  1. Past hour
  2. It looks like there's a Geezer Butler, Rob Trujillo and Kerry King on there
  3. The one in The Gallery is a nice thing. I tried it the other day. Thin neck, nice tone, looks the part. My reservation is that I think it might be a bit pricey for what it is. But I guess the gallery has overheads that we don't. Your shortscale will undoubtedly be nicer to play, and what with these both being quite 'thumpy' semi acoustic basses, I doubt the scale length will make any real diff to the tone. GLWTS!
  4. Highway star - Deep Purple
  5. Any actually useful responses out there?
  6. I've been quoted two years a while ago for either a standard model or master built/custom shop (right handed). Sounds like Sadowsky Germany are pretty accurate with their estimated delivery times. That is very valuable to know. Thanks. I hope it was worth the waitπŸ™‚πŸ‘
  7. Flat wound strings and a piece of foam under the bridge are favoured by those looking for that old school, P bass thump (think James Jameson on the old Motown recordings). Stick with what’s on there for the moment, until you work out what you want from it tonally, then you can investigate the many options. Fortunately, there is plenty of help on Basschat in this regards. Nice bass you have there. πŸ‘
  8. I think I bought a lawnmower from Salt Raspberry, many years ago. Nice fella.
  9. Wheels of Steel - Saxon
  10. Bass Direct often have John East knobs in stock: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/east-knob/
  11. And don't forget the Kawai Aures 2 series where you get the same as the ATX-4 plus the option to hear your piano or whatever connected via Bluetooth to it through the very soundboard of the piano itself thanks to transducers exciting the said soundboard. The sound is quite impressive.
  12. For washing it down in the shower.

  14. This would look so good alongside my MTD Super 5......must sit on hands and must resist...GAS does not exist...... GLWTS!
  15. Hi Guys! First time poster here. Do any other Gretsch Junior Jet 2 owners have issues with the action on their bass? Since the warm weather has descended I thought it best to do some set up on the Gretsch to get it back to how I had it in Winter, but for the life of me I can't get the strings to stop buzzing on the frets when I totally straighten the neck out. I'm inclined to replace the nut and the bridge, just to give the strings a little more clearance but before I start doing any noob stuff I would like some advice! I've always taken my guitars/basses to a luthier for setup, but I think it's about time I learned how to do it myself. Please be kind Chris

  17. I'm really not good on diseased trees, Mick. πŸ˜‚ OK, I can see it's not beech (I used to own a small beech wood), and I can see it's not pine (I've been to Ikea, y'know), but beyond that? Yup ... it's wood.
  18. In my mind a 50W bass amp is a toy, practice amp at best. I haven't used that little power in decades! I see nothing sexy about it.
  19. The only ones I can confirm are definitely genuine are Abraham Lincoln, Samuel Pepys, Glenn Miller, Jesus, and Paddington Bear
  20. Lovely bass for a very fair price. GLWTS!
  21. I think they were discontinued before the Specials came along, maybe quite a while before. They always sounded really good to me in the YT demos I saw. Never got to play one. From memory, they weren't that much more expensive than a bolt on model. Certainly not enough for people to raise a fuss about at the time. They weren't in production for very long, probably because there wasn't much demand for a non-traditional Stingray. Players are fairly conservative, and so many have already got Stingrays anyway. For a company like EBMM volume of sales is always a big consideration because they have limited production capability so they need to put their resources into making stuff that is going to sell. That's why they can't keep making models that aren't selling very many. With a limited range of models and options they can more accurately estimate what raw materials they will need and end up wasting less time and money.

  23. Didn't J Squiggle once play in The Searchers?
  24. +1 to that, Chris... I had the pleasure of meeting David at the weekend and having a play on this gorgeous Yamaha bass of his. The neck is absolutely stunning - straight and true, and a joy to play on. What's more, the bass sounds lovely too... Especially so because it's got a passive tone control that does what it's supposed to; you can get a nice bright and clear tone (think of the opening to The Eagles 'One of these Nights'), right through to that phat, rounded Motown tone with just a quick twist of the tone knob. Gorgeous! But the thing that surprised me most about this bass is how lightweight it is - which is quite something for an Ash body.. Anyway, suffice to say, it's an absolute bargain as you said Chris. Proper 'old skool' P Bass goodness and quality, for not much money at all when compared to vintage Fenders of the same era. GLWTS David πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  25. Any thoughts as to who some of these signatures belong to or what event this might have been signed at?
