What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

I wouldn't worry - AI is pretty much replacing session musicians now! -
Back at the Queens Arms in Brixham last night. Its a cosy corner for bands, and our drummer had recently bought a smaller kit consisting of 18" bass drum (down from 24"), rack & floor tom. It really helped fir us in and sounded good to. We did a tribute to Ozzy by playing War Pigs, Crazy Train & Paranoid together in the 2nd set. There was a large group seated in a corner who were really enjoying it and were in fine voice singing along. My usual rig of StingRay 2eq, RM500 & BF210. My Skechers are starting to show some signs of wear, but are comfy and I don't wear by best pairt to gigs. We played well and had a good night.

I know what you mean. My last recording session was at a mate's house in his living room on his MAC using Logic Pro. There was so much intervention from it that a part of me was wondering what I was even doing there! I felt like I was playing second fiddle to the software. -

Messy or not, what's on your (music) work desk right now?

Yeah I picked up the Daleks in a bag of little toys from a variety shop. They are genuine Dr Who merch. They sit on springs so if I tap my foot when I’m playing, they dance around. They each respond to different BPMs! I’m very happy with the Adams. And yes I have a bit of a thing with pedals - on skinny-string guitar anyway. I keep buying the buggers and I’m long overdue a clear out (watch the Classifieds). -

Thanks @AndyTravis I think you are on the money, a darker tint to it will bring the grain out a bit. Plus all the other natural stingrays out there are just lacquered so this will make it kind of unique! it’s the black hardware issue I’m having trouble with!
-
To be honest I’m 95% set on a natural finish, slightly toned down and high gloss. I’m not a fan of trans colour finishes to be honest, and I think it’s too nice a grain to cover up.

Good choice, great amps. And if you do a gig with an SVT supplied, the controls will all look rather familiar!

The sell off continues; arthritis in my fingers Next up is my rig, Genz Benz Streamliner 600 and Barefaced 210S. This listing is for the Streamliner amp. Happy to talk about a deal if you want both items. It's in very good condition as I hope the pics testify, and in full working order. It has been used as my back line for a few years but you really wouldn't guess that from the overall great condition. I had a full service carried out a couple of years ago and the sticker for the place that did it is on the side of the amp as you can see in the pics. It will come with a kettle lead and a Gator carry case. If you ask me nicely I could add a Speakon cable too. All of this for £400 or very near offer please. Collection or meet up preferred. Slightly nervous about posting due to valves inside, but if you are happy to accept the risk this could be arranged at cost. Here are the pics:

kwmlondon started following Weirdest Fender ever?
-
Well. I’m glad a big player like Fender can still make something that would shame a boutique builder in terms of nuttiness. I would take a whole day to travel to a store to try that slab of fruit cake lunacy! The price makes me feel much better about my own meagre, frugal purchases.

I agree, if I can’t hear myself Theres no reference point and also no pleasure Edit : I like to think “I’m doing that and it sounds amazing”. I watched a phone recording of myself, an acoustic guitard and a talented female singer. I sounded loud to me, but was inaudible on the phone. She’s always telling me to turn up, maybe she’s right I get that phones don’t always capture bass well but you usually get something

This is mine: Sound: I added neodymium magnets to the outside of the bridge pickup. Everything else is stock. Playability: I put a simple thumb rest on. Balance: I’ve extended the upper horn. Looks: I added a bit to the pick guard. The original didn’t seem to look quite right to my eyes. It’s got Newtone “Shorties” on it. I’ve had it 11 years - I think they’re brilliant !

It’s not just one though, this is the norm sadly.

Don't knock it on the head because of one bad stage sound experience. From my own experience, the worst time to contemplate your future with a band is 'the morning after'. 🙂
