  2. I think the realisation you have there, Daryl, is a good one. If we’ve got good band situations going it’s important to nurture them. Be reliable, not a drama-queen etc. As you get older it gets harder to start over. As to why guys (and gals) give in, my experience is often physical aging. The driving, parking, gear loading, standing playing for a couple of hours etc. gets harder. Luckily, I’ve been blessed so far with good health, but I don’t take it for granted. I also have a drummer friend who now has carer responsibilities for his disabled wife. I try to cut him plenty of slack, as he did many years ago when I became the father of twins!
  3. Doesn't it feel good to be popular? Slow down sir, I'm not able to listen the songs at the speed you push them out!
  4. @Bluewine you are looking marvellous for 71. I reckon playing music is helping! I hope I am still playing in my 70s
  5. I usually enjoy the gigs but it`s all the associated guff that surrounds many bands that folk decide that it isn`t worth the payback of gigging. If it wasn`t for the fact that 2 out of the 4 I play alongside I really care for, I could happily knock it on the head.
  6. if you click the edit button on the first post it lets you also edit the title. Add the word sold at the end, and it will auto lock and mark as sold. Also 'withdrawn' or 'traded'
  7. Great perspective Len. I realize that I have a pretty sweet thing going for me with Maple Road. Fantastic bandmates, for the most part decent gigs and good money. Daryl
  8. Lots to think about. Looking forward to getting hooked up
  9. That's super kind of you, thank you. I'm in Camberley, Surrey so not far at all. When I'm closer to going for the change I'll drop you a PM. Thank you 😊
  10. Well, I’ll start off with a quote I first heard many years ago and still holds true. ”playing music with other people is about the best fun you can have with your clothes still on”. I’m just about to turn 67, actively gigging in two bands and getting involved with new musical ventures where I can. I don’t plan to stop until I have to.

  12. This probably is more for you guys that are over 60 but not necessarily limited to that range. I'm 71 and most of the musicians I grew up with and started playing with are no longer gigging and have zero interest in it. Share your thoughts and position on why you're still gigging and why you think some guys lose interest. Daryl
  13. I ordered some this morning and they're due to be delivered tomorrow, fingers crossed. Hopefully this will turn out better than the last time I bought strings on Amazon... I received a mobile phone case.
  14. I think about 4kg maybe less but I can’t weigh it to see. I have another bass which is 3.6 and there’s not much difference between them
  15. Thanks for the additional details Axe. Interesting scenario. With this singer's background and experience I'm surprised the audition didn't go better for him. Daryl
  16. Bloody hell. Over 500 views today.
  17. Nearly there. Patitucci's bass part on 'One Hand, One Heart' from the same 'West Side Story' recording. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/one-hand-one-heart-dave-grusin/
  18. Today
  19. I got a little lift-off lid flight case for mine so it can live in the case when being used. As per the end of this Facebook thread - the udggear case. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3457246984538074/posts/3768296876766415/
  20. Come on all you Vincen Garcia fans. This is the funk machine of 2025! 😎👍
  21. Beautiful bass. How light?
  22. Hi H = 44cm (incl feet) W = 47.5cm D = 40cm (51 P bass pic for comparison purposes!)
  23. Never had a problem with Evri, must just be lucky with local staff.
  24. More progress today, putting the side dots into the fretboard, fitting the fibre optic strands and glueing the fretboard to the neck
  25. I’ve owned and loved this bass for many years, it’s light, has a thin silky smooth neck and sounds just so right in most styles of music. The way it balances on the strap is amazing and it feels and plays like a 34” scale but it’s a 35 as they all are. it’s serial number dates it to one of the first 100 basses produced and has the bart pickups and original preamp. I replaced the bridge for a genuine USA Lakland one but couldn’t get one without the logo as it would have been originally. Apart from that it’s totally standard and un touched. Condition is virtually as new, there is a small mark on the front near where your thumb goes but it’s hard to show in a picture or see even when you are close up. Other than that, it’s dam near perfect. It has the original lakland hard shell case as well. I’m not even sure I want to sell it so won’t be accepting offers because I believe it’s priced very reasonably already. I would like a Yamaha BBP35 or similar PJ 5 string so px is possible with cash. I am looking for 2 x 112 vanderclay 600w cabs as well. thanks for looking
  26. As title, excellent condition, no box but have a generic PSU. Price is posted.
