  2. Every year I promise my wife 'no more new basses and no more new gear'. Every year I fail. But I'm weak you see. And I'm retired and it rains a lot in Cornwall. Woe is me I shall go and disembowel myself 😔 Just get myself another bass before I do.
  3. Hi - this is a really cute short scale (29.5" scale) Jazz from Bacchus in a lovely Dark Lake Placid Blue finish that I imported from Japan a while back. Nice & light at 7.4lb according to my luggage scales. Didn't feel the need to mod it as, so all original & has only seen home use since I bought it. Still have the original box & branded gig bag too so UK shipping is an option if collection from Newcastle wouldn't work for you... Let me know if you need any more pics... 👍
  4. I like the harshness of it this year. "I walked past a shop and saw a nice bass in the window." "Get tae f**k, yer oot!" 😁
  5. Having a clear out of my studio and have a few pedals that I either have doubles of, or aren't seeing much use! All boxed (apart from 3 Leaf) and well looked after. Will post photos as soon as I have time! Can be posted, or collection in South East London. Origin Effects Cali 76 Compact Bass - £185 Diamond BCP-1 - £175 Sadowsky SBP-2 - £50 TC Electronics Ditto - £50 3 Leaf Audio Doom (No Box) - £200 Basswitch Iq DI - £200
  6. I’ve done charity gigs. They cost me money, so I expect to be paid. I object to the expectation that it's OK for musicians to give their time for free and no one else is expected to. They don't use that line on the bar, venue or catering companies!! I guess being a musician isn't a real job, so it doesn't matter! Giving your time for free for charity? A neighbour used to be a senior executive in the Red Cross. You wouldn't want to know what his salary was, and pension now is!!!
  7. I think tony lost his original 3 string in a fire...still pretty funny ;)
  8. 3/4 gig bag free to a good home. Great bag more than good enough for gigging, decent foam thickness, heavy zips and all in great condition. It was issued with new Laurence Dixon bass, which I sold last year and the buyer didn't need the bag when they collected it, so it's been taking up space here since. Have attempted to sell similar before and it's a right royal PITA esp with postage - just happy to see it go to someone who needs it! Collection only from Beckenham BR3
  9. ok, they have arrived, and after a few days now of comparing them. there was no doubt something wrong with the other pair as these new ones are definitely better with no phasing going on. soooo.... after a good listen.. and from back up responses from my older mixes. the last few mixes i have done with the superlux HD660 some have said the mix is a little dull and needing more sparkle at the top. this i can now put down to the superlux are alot brighter at the top end so when i do my mixing or more to the point adding EQ at the end, i am pulling down the hi end thinking there is quite a lot going on up there, when in fact it was the HD660s ( being over bright) Very noticeable when i now use the Beyer DT770 pro. so i went back to one of my mixes, and reEQ the mix as a quick test, and hay presto my mix is now brighter, and more accurate to the top end when trying against the monitors they now seem right. the bass end also is is better i can clearly hear the more subby lows in as much as the Beyers will go to that i just could not hear with superlux. But for now... thats all i have for you guys as usable information, i can only see how it all goes as some of you say they need to "Burn in" ? But as AL Nico says above "they really let you know if something is a bit harsh in the highs." i can only agree with him there, thats bang on as prooved in the twice mixing of the same song. A real learning curve here, we are always learning. but i still maintain when you get use to one set of headphones and then change them you have to almost reEQ you head. Anyway i am really happy now with the DT770s so i will just stick with them for now and see how i get on the more i use and get use to them Cheers guys
  10. MK Studio P EUB, with stand a original soft case, in very good condition. I bought this from a fellow Basschatter last year as a tour backup for my Yamaha SLB 300, but it was never required, so has had very little use apart from a few hours practicing. Great design. Really well made and compact, and very quick to set up. Sounds great straight into an amp, and even better with a decent preamp. I wouldn't want to risk shipping this bass so collection in person only. I can rendezvous within 15 or so miles of Southend if necessary. Might consider trade for a Fender American Professional 2 P.Bass with maple fingerboard, in very good condition. PM for more details.

  12. Some things it would be nice to do in 2026: 1. Improve my DB soloing. 2. Improve DB speed and endurance for when horn players call rhythm changes at high tempos etc. 3. Do more jazz gigs on DB, ideally with multiple horns. 4. Get together a jazz group with me on guitar.
  13. Must make an effort to finish this winter project. (rubbish photo)
  14. Yeah they’re lovely bodies, let me know if you want me to send it down 😉
  15. This is my bitsa Jazz; it has an unknown body which was previously a manky brown sunburst, a CV neck and tuners, Limelight pickups and a big green Russian tone capacitor. I painted the body in CAR using rattle cans and it turned out pretty well. Although it's a bit heavy it plays well and sounds awesome, so overall I'm well happy. I could have just bought a CV, I suppose, but I had way much more fun doing this.
  16. I don't think I've seen any political extremism in posts on here. However I don't spend a lot of time in Off Topic. There have been opinions that don't always align with mine, but nothing that I would class as extremism.
  17. ...isn't that the point 😈 ?
  18. Good lord. Is this still here? It’s feckin gorgeous

  20. Couple of rescue fretlii for your perusal folks Both rather nice in their own way, the Jazz is VERY jazz in an upright kinda way, the other thing is rather Wal-esque, surprisingly so in fact. Nordy PUPs are OUTSTANDING
  21. For sale, my Radial Tonebone Bassbone OD preamp pedal. A two-channel bass preamp with HPF, piezo input for double bass, DI out and switchable overdrive. A great pedal, I used it for years to double on electric and DB. Made it really easy with the dual EQ, switchable HPF, boosted input for the DB and tuner out. I've gone to more separated signal paths now (still via a Radial I/O!) so this is just sitting around not doing anything. Comes with original box, papers, and PSU. NOTE THAT THIS USES A 15v CENTRE POSITIVE PSU so you need the proper power supply or one that can feed it the correct polarity supply. A 'normal' Boss-style PSU won't work and will fry the pedal (as I found out with another one of these - this is the replacement one I bought). Recently PAT-tested too. Has Dual-lock on the bottom. These are now RRP £439! £260 posted.

  22. Shame, they are great DI pedals but sadly the HPF is important to tame excess bass, variable as you say, why did you keep it ? I would have sent it back for a replacement Finally V3....hope it worked out for you in the end.....
  23. No problem. I'm happy to post if you still want it.
