  1. Past hour
  2. Gotta Go - Agnostic Front
  3. Damn. I looked at that list, praying they wouldn't have the only bass I would consider buying, and yep, there it was. Happily its still more expensive than anywhere else so no go for me.
  4. Five CD/1 Blu-Ray set commemorating the best live rock album of all time. Gonna argue? Plus book, poster, replica tour magazine. This copy still sealed and unplayed. Yours for £45 (RRP £70-75). Review from Bluestown Music This 50th anniversary reissue is not just another expensive deluxe box; it is a MUST have album for every rock fan as Deep Purple plays immaculate live versions of fantastic studio material. Highway Star, Child In Time, Lazy and Space Truckin’ are 100% musical live hard rock/metal weapons that hit you like a hammer and kick you in the teeth for sure. Steven Wilson did an impressive job with the remix and all the seven songs (Highway Star, Child In Time, Smoke On The Water, The Mule, Strange Kind Of Woman, Lazy and Space Truckin’) sound powerful, crispy, and immaculate!! This is more than just a collector’s item; it is a must have album for every rock fan and needless to say that you have to play it LOUD. The Super Deluxe edition is a five CD set (plus Blu-ray). CD 1 has a Steven Wilson Dolby ATMOS remix of the original 77-minute album, CDs 2 to 4 have the three seven song sets in performance order and on CD 5 there are all six encore performances for the first time; Black Night at all three shows, two versions of Speed King and one of Lucille, plus three single-only edits for completists!
  5. A thousand results from a LeBonCoin search (100km radius from here, in France...). More than half are not basses (either amps, guitars, hard cases, ceramic vases and more...). Of the several hundred left, most are 'beginner' or 'budget' basses; there are few that would attract attention, still less warrant going to see. The one or two that might (I say 'might'; depends on one's taste..?) interest some here, the prices seem to be... err... 'optimistic'..? A 19c Jaquet contre-bass at 15000€..? S'gonna be hard to shift, I'd have thought. Fender Telecaster bass, 1968..? 5600€. '71 Ricki 4001, at 4000€ and a '67 Guild Starfire XII, with original US case, for 2750€ seem almost reasonable nestled amongst the dozens of accordions offered for several thousand euros each. If it's squeeze-boxes you're after, here's the place.
  6. cheersd for allthe help guys, really appreciate it.
  7. The cable's probably tinned copper. I wouldn't be happy using 40-year old wire when it's easy enough to replace with some new stuff.
  8. I thought this would be about getting the band members to pay their share of the rehearsal space hire. -sometimes just as difficult...
  9. Location would be useful! 😀
  10. Well, it has been nearly two months, so hey-ho and up she rises, etc. Bump.
  11. Thanks mate, it really is a lovely thing, I'll be gigging DB again next year and am buying back my old Mesa Walkabout 15 with that in mind (the WA worked really well for upright and a combo is so much easier if you've also got a 4/4 in the back of the car), and much as I'd love to keep this even I can't justify three large rigs, the WA will do great for DB and smaller gigs, and my M-Pulse with 115/106 for the bigger ones. I'll miss it's lovely edge of breakup tone, I'll miss all that chrome, and I'll miss the inevitable queue of musos at gigs asking about it (and our drummer making jokes about making toast), but c'est la vie
  12. I Gotta Get Outta Here - Alice Cooper
  13. shame about the neck because it's absolutely gorgeous, sure someone could sort it out though and might be worth it for that finish
  14. A similar tale here. The ‘73/‘74 Jazz I’ve had since the early/mid 80s has had five different sets of p/ups in it - the originals, 70s cream coloured DiMarzio, first generation EMGs, a sourced set of ‘74 p/ups, and currently a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity. The original owner was responsible for the first two sets, and I’ve piddled around with the rest! I took off the tug bar and covers (as most people did at the time) and left them in a wardrobe at my mum’s decades ago. She then had a clear out and they ended up at the main Coventry tip! The original case is long gone too. It’s been played to within an inch of its life, and I still love the thing as much today as the first day I had it…
  15. I think the cables are steel, Bill. Not sure if that makes any difference? Still, thanks for the tip; all knowledge gratefully received. I managed to clean the grille cloth today. After some umm-ing and ahh-ing, I took the agricultural approach and pressure-washed it, which worked a treat!
  16. Looking for bass players to join our jam sessions on the 16th November. The jams have been running for nearly 3 years and include a wide variety of musical genres. For transparency, this is not a paid gig as the purpose of the session is to have fun playing music together and it's not a commercial enterprise.
  17. Well, here in yeovil it is mostly fenders, but there is a Jabba telecaster bass and a 1960s Vox Symphonic. There is also a Kay bass at a comedy price and a Peavey milestone 3 with a 'custom handmade walnut body." - that sounds a lot better than it looks.
  18. We have a PA consisting of a Behringer Wing mixer (too complicated for me to use. I like old fashioned knobs!), Mackie SRM 450 tops and SWA1501 bottoms. One 1501 is ours, the other is "borrowed". We've been looking for a second 1501 for us, but I see on-line that they can have expensive reliability problems. If we bought another manufacturer's bass bin and use both together, would it / could it cause problems? At least then, if the Mackie died we would still have the other.
  19. Same search for Falkirk returns about 40 odd basses. Mostly off-brands with a smattering on Dingwall, Fender, Ric and Sandberg; none I'd consider buying.
  20. Come to lovely, sunny Derby. It’s……..erm……..in the middle. 🤪
  21. Today
  22. Not much better really. East Yorkshire is a little bit out on a limb from the rest of the county, so we tend to be a bit forgotten regarding stuff. North Lincs is only a trip over the Humber Bridge but unfortunately not much better there either.
  23. HPW said mine was bubinga too until i asked him to look again. Afzelia Was the standard wood for Thumbs from this time...
  24. Joyo Ironman Rushing Train mini pedal, mint condition, complete with box. This is a Vox style amp sim pedal. It's essentially a mini version of their ACTone pedal, one of a series including the American Sound, British Sound, Oxford Sound and Californian Sound. I read somewhere that these were, in turn, based on the Tech 21 "Character" series of preamp pedals, but I can't vouch for that. So if you want that Vox-ish sound in mini format, this is the pedal for you. £20 posted within UK.
  25. Is this still available? Would you take £800 cash this evening?
