  2. This lovely condition 2023 Aubergine Fender American Performer Mustang is for sale/trade. It's been with me for a few months and is set up beautifully with 40-95 Elixirs (of course!) Plays like a dream and is in excellent condition with no scratches or dings that I can see. It has only been used for one set on one gig in our live tribute show, so it's not earning its keep and therefore has to go. Comes complete with bill of sale from original owner and the original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag & case candy. The American Performer Mustang is also another instrument in the line (since the Highway 1 series Jazz/Precision) which utilises the 'Grease Bucket' tone control, which lowers tone without losing bass/volume. I would record you a demo, but I'll let 'Nick Campbell Destroys' do the honours below - he does a lot better job than me! For sale at £825. (Recommended retail price on these is now nearly £1400 these days!) Interesting trade options considered. Buyer to collect, or can meet half way at a distance of up to 100 miles from DE7.

  8. I bought a body a while back and have just got to the point of being able to add the neck (hooray) so it's the first time I have noticed the string spacing setup - and it varies currently between 20 and 15 mil between different strings. I want to get it back to the comfy 19mm everywhere but I can't work out how to adjust the black barrel bits. They seem like they should twist to move but I can't work out how.....
  9. If postage ever becomes an option please DM me @Lozz196 and let me know, this would have sold within a week if it had been I think
  10. Company I worked at for ten years ran a Paul Smith line. Wristwatches. Made in China, hideously overpriced, garishly designed, same innards/movements as the products we used to put into Argos for £20.00 a pop. People are stupid.
  11. And back on planet earth. Building contractor sorry guv we are booked solid for the next 8 months with actual real jobs that we have been to the property and provided a quote for.
  12. That's cool, it's like a Fodera Monarch and an Ibanez JEM had a lanky baby
  13. Welcome to BC @DanDoesBass I'm a paid up member of the Mustang Brotherhood - which is weird, because a few years ago I would have laughed at the idea. I bought the '66 Mustang on a whim and fell in love with it, especially with rounds. Since I had it modified with new pickups it's become my favourite bass. I realised that short scale would be really well suited for fretless, given the additional weight afforded to the higher strings. I bought the '72 Musicmaster and a fretless Mustang neck to test that idea, and it's fantastic. Shortly the bass is going to a local luthier who is doing a few other bits such as correcting the electronics, replacing the bridge and possibly epoxy coating the board.
  14. These tuners came from a JMJ Roadworn Mustang but I assume they will fit any Fender with a similar post size and screw pattern. They are full size tuners with a wider post unlike the Gotoh version that was made to fit the MIJ Mustang basses. I’m sorry I don’t know the model number. They have been lightly aged so wouldn’t look out of place on a vintage Fender needing a better quality tuner. They come with mounting screws and ferrules. Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost UK only. Thanks
  15. Lovely basses but I sold mine due it not getting enough use. I have a 2012 2 eq EB Ray under the bed if the need arises. Ian
  16. It would be good if the OP would come back and actually explain what he means by his question. 🤔
  17. I've used roundcores on that type of bass. I found the secret with a headless and round cores is to put a Z bend in the string after it has gone through the head string clamp - but before it is actually clamped. Just a hard left and right bend is enough to stop it unravelling and then clamp it. Doesn't have to be a long Z - just do the bends as close to each other as you can with pliers. That gives the wrap something to bind on. When cutting the excess off leave the Z bend alone so it's always there. With the effect of the Z and the clamp you can even then take the strings off and put them on again later without them unravelling.
  18. I don't think it's right. You can use 'it looks a bit thirsty' for a lot of things, including wood. But I don't think I'd say it needs a drink.
  19. GL M-2000 Tribute Bass neck in great condition Bought for a project that never happened! Fitted with decent Gold Finish Machine heads -- Truss rod works fine. Any inspection welcome or can Post at Cost --- Heel size in photos
  20. Funny thing: many grunge and indie guitarists of that time started playing Fenders because they were available cheaply. Especially their offset models (Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang) were available at pawn shops all over the US for silly money because they were either deemed too finnicky / complex or silly 24" student guitars that no serious player would ever want to own. It's what set off the Fender offset craze, first fuelled by Fender Japan who started producing them again and since the late 90s there are many US and MIM models too. Might be the same with the basses: came back in style because influential bands could get their hands on them cheaply when they started out.
  21. Damn I really wish you were closer... I too had a Tech Soundsystems 4x12. A religious experience when cranked!
  22. I'm heading to the Peak District in September so could take it should anyone that way be interested. Cheers.
  23. Thanks (sorry for the late reply - I've only just seen your response). I've still got my eye on getting a Ray 34 Purple Sparkle: I've got to admit though, it is almost entirely down to the paint-job that I want one. I've always wanted a purple sparkle funk-machine! (What's more funky than Purple Sparkle Stingray? Nothing!....well, apart from perhaps a Purple Sparkly Bootsy Space Bass, but I don't think anyone apart from Bootsy can pull off that level of funk!) My main 'wants' for a Bass = Light, Passive, front facing jacks, headless, Purple Sparkle. ....so it seems that the paint job might make up for the other things!
  24. IMHO £3-4K or if you actually want to sell it £2.5-3K, but if its that beat up less, but thats my opinion of course (i repaired some dings on mine it's not as big a deal as Headless USA will have you think, with the right stuff)
