Fender US Deluxe P5 - opinions sought
Si600 replied to bassbloke's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
You could always ask @chrismuzz. -
The subscription cost for a Shopify site like that is… steep. The lower subscription tiers can be cheap (they just take a smallish cut of your sales via Shop Pay) but once you scale up to something with all the bells and whistles, it can get very pricey very quickly. But, compared to a lot of e-commerce solutions, it mostly “just works”.

Yamaha's are Yamaha's no matter where they are made. It will be a well made bass regardless.

I'm not sure about that - I've got quite a few free jazz albums and enjoy listening to them. Of course, I usually have to wait until my other half is out in case she complains of "oh no, not more Desolate Shore"... BTW, a couple of times I've seen arguments about free jazz break out on another forum, where things can get quite heated indeed. I failed to make clear that I liked listening to it and received some interesting abuse. Re your jams, it seems a bit off that there's no planning. Good luck getting a house band together and starting your own!

Kevdbass started following Matrix XT2000 power amp.
-
Used but in great condition. I have used this amp in my PA rig running top boxes and it has been amazing and has never been driven hard. The power handling is superb. Sadly It really does not get used enough to justify my keeping it. It has amazing power with fantastic build quality. Sold in the SKB rack case that it lives in. Picked up the following description which if you don't know what this is will give you a good idea. I will ship well packaged for £15 and it is also available for pickup from CF833SR. Happy to use your choice of carrier at cost. The XT2000 outputs 1000 watts of great sounding class AB sound per channel from its 7.5 kg chassis. Often used for high powered compression driver arrays on large systems, kick bins, large top boxes requiring up to 1000 watts at 4 ohm and the bottom end of sub / satellite systems where the subs require 1000 watts at 4ohms, each. Can also be used with; high powered compression driver arrays on large systems kick bins large top boxes requiring up to 1000 watts at 4 ohm pairs of subs requiring 1000 watts each at 4 ohm. The switched mode power supply ensures that plenty of power is available for the output stage to faithfully reproduce every transient in your original source material. The dual speed temperature controlled 80mm long-life fan draws air through the front, exhausting heat from the rear of the rack. The amplifier has fully balanced Neutrik XLR inputs, Neutrik Speakon® NL4 output sockets and is connected to the mains by a fused 20A Powercon inlet. Number of channels:2 Height (RU):2U Watts (rms) per channel, 8R:600 Watts (rms) per channel, 4R:1000 Watts (rms) Bridge Mode, 8R:2000 Average Supply Current, Full load:10A Mains Connector:20A POWERCON Frequency Response (±3dB ref 1kHz):8Hz – 24kHz Signal to Noise Ratio (ref full power, 1kHz):99dB THD (20Hz - 20kHz, full power):0.07% Slew Rate:65V/μs Damping Factor (ref. 8R, 100Hz):>500 Cooling (Temperature Controlled Dual Speed Fan):1x 80mm Fan Cooling Direction:Front to Back Dimensions, mm:482 wide x 88 high x 210 deep Weight:7.5kg Gain: 37.2dB Sensitivity: .950V RMS for full output.

These are Absolutely fantastic , units I use one as a Tubescreamer , a RAT and a Big muff , this thing gives you all the benefit of " behaving like analog pedals with blend functionality but with the flexibility of pugging the thing in and swapping the "Pedal sim " for somthing else on the menu . A huge stable of options , And even the ability to switch it from " toggle to latch" for those ... i want my Fuzz in the Chorus only moments, So much versatility for the price , bargain. -

I know what you mean. I've been out playing my Status basses, GB Spitfire and even my regular American Elite Jazz regularly on jobs for a few weeks, and the other day I sat down and got my Fender American Original Jazz out for the first time in a while. There's a simplicity and naturalness to the tone of a really good passive bass that's both refreshing and hard to beat. Yes, sometimes we need some active preamp shove, but that pure simplicity of a good passive bass is so satisfying. Interestingly enough, my new walnut/graphite Jazz build is going to start out passive with the Fender Pure Vintage 66 pickups and the initial plan is to see how I like it passive. There is the possibility of a John East Jazz preamp lurking in my mind, though... -

This is very true, but as I have returned back to long scale (for fretted at least) I think my fretted Jabba spalted bass (which is almost identical to @wrinkleygit's) will be on sale very soon.

greghagger started following McCartney’s ‘Something’ Bass Line
-
I was listening to the Beatles, 'Something' the other day, and I've never noticed before how incredible Paul McCartney's bass line is on this song. In my opinion, McCartney is at his best on this bass line and because of that, I decided to feature the bass line in my new YouTube series, 'Bass Lines That Changed Music Forever.' This bass line has everything in it: 🎸countermelodies 🎸dynamics 🎸substitution chords 🎸chord tones 🎸slides and vibrato The 'Something' bass line really enhances George Harrison's composition and is an integral part of the song, elevating bass into the limelight. You can get a free copy of my note-for-note transcription - link in the video description.

Feedback from the sound engineer from last nights gig: “A pleasure - enjoyed myself. My vote for best numbers goes to the Floyd one, and Sledgehammer. That octaver effect on Warren's bass was spectacular! 🙂 Mike” I’m using it again tonight in a different band on red preset 2 for You’re The One For Me by D-Train. Absolutely spot on for it.

An update for those of us searching for information on the cases relating to Michael Mason. There was indeed a hearing (at Leicester Magistrates Court) on 10th September 2025. The result of that hearing was that the defendant was given unconditional bail and the case was sent to the Crown Court. That next hearing will be on 26th November 2025 at Leicester Crown Court. That's a little over four weeks away. I found this out by calling the Telephone Enquiries line, here: 0330 808 4407 (Crime customer service centre - Monday to Friday 08:30am to 5pm, Saturday 8:30am to 2pm). I found those contact details on this page https://www.find-court-tribunal.service.gov.uk/courts/leicester-magistrates-court . Before I was given the information by the clerk, I was asked to provide a case reference number (33JJ0821825 - which I picked up from when the case was current at Leicester Magistrates Court), and I also needed to confirm my relationship to the case (I was a friend of the victims of the alleged crimes). I have also made other enquiries about the case - you are welcome to DM me if you are interested (or eager, or impatient), but I expect to be able to share those further details in 20 days time.
