  1. Past hour
  2. ...and the Minimark is back in the race!
  3. Someone left the door ajar and one of the kids from Reddit crept in?
  4. If I lived in the UK, I'd definitely take the entire rig. Unfortunately I'm in New Zealand. I just purchased a Shuttlemax 9.2 from Bass Chat a month ago and always looking for a backup. If you ever change your mind, please let me know. Thanks.
  5. The video wasn't even meant to be about the "tonewood debate" (yawn), he's just trying something novel, wacky and more than a little impractical for the curiosity and spectacle of it.
  6. Hi Howie, thanks bud, but they need to go as a pair as I'm downsizing. Honestly, you'll never regret taking the wonderful cab too! Cheers, Dave

  8. Ooops, A little late but here's some proof of ownership piccies. Big thank you for the positive bigging up of the amp above. Seems really strange that I won't have an actual bass amp anymore. If only the 17 year old version of me knew what was coming when I lugged my 39kg Laney combo up and down the stairs 😅
  9. Hi. Would you consider selling the Shuttlemax 9.2 by itself?

  12. There's a thread here. Sorry I'm on my phone and not totally sure if the link us right Someone has succesfully cut them bending the string 90 degrees and cutting Worth a read tbh
  13. Damn, wish I’d known that before ordering yesterday! 😭
  14. Been doing this so many times during the 90's and early 2000's when I had my own repair shop... But I always removed the rubber strip to make a full cleaning as these were still the cigarettes glory days and most of these keyboards were simply full of smoke residues and soooo sticky. 🤢🥴
  15. Due to an impending house move I'm thinning the herd. Up for sale is my Musicman Stringray Special 5H. Recently professionally set up with DR Sunbeams, classic natural look, excellent condition (there's one small ding on the back side - see pictures), super lightweight and easy on the shoulder for gigging. Comes with a hardcase which is slightly marked but structurally completely sound. Looking for £1850 collected from Stone (Staffordshire) or alternatively I do have a box to ship if you are willing to arrange a courier/insurance.

  17. Another online review - with no talking (great!).
  18. I can absolutely relate to that video… we use the same gloves at work 😁
  19. I’ll still keep an eye on the thread, Ive been after one of these for about 7yrs. Recently got my hands on a 1989 one but the headstock was pretty badly split and had to go back unfortunately.
  20. That is absolutely gorgeous! I cant justify it, but someone will be very lucky!
  21. I think it was the official Planet Rock camera person.
  22. I bought a HB Shorty when they first came out and, several years and a major bass sell off later, it is the only Fender flavoured bass I still have. I swapped the pickup for a Tonerider, just because the extra oomph suited the band better, but everything else is stock. Anyhoo, I would say if you buy cheap flats you will just be disappointed - you'll end up with a dull thud and lose all the nusanced tones that more expensive flats will give you. The Thomann flats don't come in short scale I don't think and MIE cutting longscale flats to fit usually ends up with the cut end unravelling. I have TI Flats on mine - they do a shortscale version - and couldn't be happier with the sound and playability. If you baulk at paying £40+ for strings, they usually turn up secondhand in the classifieds here for £25-ish. You just have to wait.
  23. I've made a few guitars and basses with an aluminium backbone and 3d printed body. No wood at all in the body but decent wooden necks. Nobody has yet said they sound rubbish. Perhaps they were being kind. I play them as much as I play the wooden bodied guitars and basses I own. I do not claim to be a guitar virtuoso but they sound different but no more different than my 80's Westone to my MIK Squire Tele to my Strat. My headless bass is different to my Jazz or Bitsa Jazz or Westone Thunder, not worse just different. What was interesting was how little effect the incredibly strong magnets had on the pickups. Given the strength of them, and I laughed out loud at the anvil, I would have thought it would affect the tone but it didn't appear to. I think it was a great experiment, mad but still worthwhile.
  24. Thanks. The flats for my HB are recommended by Thomann as GHS 3020 L which are £45. The flats for my Beatles bass are recommended by Thomann as Daddario ECB81M which are a bit costly at £43 plus shipping. The strings would cost me as much as the bass.😄 I do like Daddis but I am a bit broke just now. lol
