I’ve had a RH750 for about 10 years and have found it to be a very reliable and versatile amp, what with the tweakable eq points I have been able to replicate the sound of just about any amp, in particular my Trace Elliot 250 SMX which I was finding a bit too big and heavy to lug around. A couple of the knobs began to crack, but I contacted TC Electronic and they immediately sent me a replacement set for free which I fitted easily and I’ve had no problems since. Also I find the three presets very useful. I have preset one set as per the TE 250 SMX, the next one completely flat, and the third one with completely different eq plus compression and distortion etc, all a bit bonkers really, so I can quickly get the right sound for whatever the musical situation or for the size and type of room, plus all very tweakable on the fly. Oh, and the built in tuner is amazing, very useful indeed. Still get the dreaded GAS 😱 from time to time though, so may well get tempted by something else eventually!

Props to Nile and Jerry for realising that it's pointless to try to make CHIC v2 sound exactly the same as v1. Jerry playing CHIC lines his own way was always going to be the best solution.

Nah. Others may have different outcomes, but if I'm selling, it means my current #1 is better, so no chance of becoming a #1 bass.

I stupidly had this Custom Shop Jazz Bass up for sale once or twice, despite always really liking it and never faulting it. I think it was because for years I was a P-Bass guy and ever since I sold my last vintage Precision I just thought I 'should' have a better P Bass, so I was going to get a Custom Shop to replace this Jazz. But then I finally dropped my 'habit' and acted on the fact that I prefer P's for bands, but J's for home and recording, and health issues mean I'm not in bands anymore. Fast forward to now and it was the right choice. It's now my only Fender, and for the first time in 25 years I'm choosing a Jazz over Precision, and can't even begin to justify owning a P... even typing that still feels dirty 😬

After having a Line 6, G50 for a few years, I bought the Black Star Air Wire i58 for a little under £150 while in Fair Deal Music in Birmingham. They use this to demo guitars and basses in their shop. Small, transmitter plugs into bass/guitar and the receiver into the amp. No cables, no relay station, rechargeable, select from 4 channels. After 4-5 months, I’m really happy with it.

Yellowstone Trails - I was initially aiming for a baggy folk type tune, but this somehow evolved with a slight country feel - which was a nice surprise, taking a walk down different trails.

First gig I ever went to was The Stranglers at the New Theatre in Oxford in 1979, a school friend’s dad drove us there. The sound of JJ’s bass is the reason I play bass and they have been my favourite band ever since. Saw them live in Warwick in July and as usual, they were fantastic.
