I have gone over the Cork and Kerry mountains and my family name is the same as a highwayman that was allegedly the subject of the song but I've never robbed Captain Farrell or met Molly, so can I or can I not sing "Whiskey in the jar"?

New Fender Vintera II Roadworn 60's Precision

Have to admit I’d forgotten all about the JMJs (how I don’t know) but yes as in similar price range the expectation should be these will be of similar quality. -
PTB started following Maruszczyk Jake 5 pickguard - white pearl
-
When I had one of these basses, I treated it to a new pickguard from Adrian Maruszczyk as I wanted a different look. The bass was moved on a few years back but it seems I held on to the original so here it is. The new one cost me £45 so I'm listing this for £30 including UK shipping. My feedback thread is below:

JMJs seem to range from £1340-£1440 new. Generally very, very well regarded, so it can't be surprising that a P version (up to a point) is in the same ballpark price wise (no custom SD pickup though). -
Here's a top quality speaker cable I no longer use. It was made by our very own @OBBM when he was running his Bassic-bits cable business. It's 105 cm end-to-end and is made from top quality components including Klotz LY240T cable, a substantial Rean jack plug and a Neutrik NL2FC Speakon plug. Price includes UK shipping. My feedback thread is below:

This is our initial list: Bruce Springsteen: Dancing in the Dark Bonnie Tyler: Holding out for a Hero Whitney Houston: I wanna dance with somebody The Police: Message in a Bottle U2: With or without you Flock of Seagulls: I ran so far away Billy Idol: Rebel yell Hall and Oates: Man Eater Glen Frey: the Heat is On Huey Lewis: the Power of Love Some songs might get swapped out for others... E.g. Dancing in the Dark may get swapped for Born to Run to get more sax involved.

Clamp to the work surface, preferably between two thin bits of wood, this should stop lifting and cracking... Jigsaw, make sure you cut in the right direction... up stroke or down stroke, and have your work piece the right way round.

Hello all, I'm want to modify a Harley Benton Beatbass to be able to make a half way house between Macca's two most famous basses, his Höfner and Rickenbacker. I'm looking for some pickup suggestions - I'd like some Rickenbacker voiced pickups that are drop in, or would require minimal modification (for example, making my own pickup rings). Any advice gratefully received 😁

A fretless Alembic with a stainless steel fingerboard? Although it did have flatwounds on and one dull thuddy bass sounds very like another dull thuddy bass.

We had a group of Inca pipers at one time, and today there was a young drummer playing to tracks in the main pedestrian area, but never a busking bass player.

PTB started following K&M 19766 Biobased Tablet Holder
-
I'm having a clear out of various bits and pieces......let's start with this tablet holder. This is the type that screws onto a mic stand rather than clipping to it. It's very solid as you'd expect from K&M. I used this for a few months when I joined my current band and needed charts to hand. Now the songs are all safely installed in my brain, it's time for someone else to enjoy this. These are £23.70 new from Thomann (plus shipping) so how about £15 including UK postage. My feedback thread is below.

I had a 200MB for years, the original speaker expired and I put a replacement in that wasn't as good, eventually found I could get a Pyle speaker identical to the original so got that and it was good again. I eventually found I wasn't using it any more and sold it. Now I find that a tiny combo weighing just over my 10kg limit would fill my needs for some things I'm doing, and @Thornybank pointed me at one at Fair Deal Music. Dropped in there today, gave it a quick whirl (I'd forgotten just how loud they go), and took it away with me. Jam night tonight so that'll be its first outing.

New Fender Vintera II Roadworn 60's Precision
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
I expect they'll be the same quality as JMJ mustang bass but less roadworn. If so they'll be worth every penny. -
D is the original solid state preamp, compact chassis. 350W or 800W WD is Walkabout, class D, 800W BD is Bass 400, class D, 800W TT is Tri-Tube Topology, class D, 800W (I wanted to name it TD, but that name is already trademarked by Lab Gruupen, used in class TD) 😥
-
The Stinger, the OSH Park circuit, and the Classic Preamp are all the same circuit. I didn't try it with the original pickup but with the Warman MM5 it sounds fine.

For a one-off job, cutting by hand with a scroll saw is probably best (easiest/cheapest/safest). Get as close to the line as you can with the saw, then file the edges smoother if needed and use a razor to scrape down to the final shape and to do the bevel. A router works well (template bit for the outline and a chamfering bit for the chamfer, obvs), but only if you have a template to work from. 12mm MDF at a minimum, 20mm or more is better as it's stiffer and gives a more solid footing for the router base. For a one-off this is more work than just doing the plate by hand, but even if you only need two the same it makes more sense (so they'll be exactly the same shape).
