I thought about this quite a lot when I was re-doing the lounge last year. I play every day, in that room, and in the end I decided on a more permanent solution and put Hercules hangars on the wall. Rob

I hadn’t but I have now. Thank you! They’re not a bad price, either.

Hi all Moving this on as I’m realising I’m just not really a PJ guy. Awesome, really well made bass, that I’ve had since new and made quite a lot of modifications too: - New tort pickguard, original included - Noll preamp imported from the states, vol/blend, bass/treble, dual passive tone control - Saddles swapped to quality slotted ones for vintage look and more control over string spacing - Battery box installed - Delano Hum Cancelling bridge pickup The upgrades add up to about the same price as the bass I think! There Is some play wear on the body, some buckle rash and a mark on the front but nothing major. weight approx 4.1kg Have a box so can post or pickup from Chessington or Central London.

These are quite cool but I think I remember it saying they weren’t safe for nitro finishes

Jolltax started following Parallelogram pickups for multiscale basses

Question for you fellow multiscalers out there : I enjoy playing my Ibanez EHB but the pickups annoy me as they are not good as a thumb rest, when playing they are not straight and at the moment its annoying me : Ever more annoying is that Ibanez seem to have recognised this problem as they give you a thumb rest which is a parallelogram creating a weird mountain range for your thumb. WHERE are the parallelogram shaped pickups which run parallel with the strings, surely this is what we need? Do they exist? Grumpy today (must be my age) J

And she's out! Stream on Spotify Would ever appreciate any streams and feedback! Cheers all. -
I've emailed Zero-Mod and will see what they say. Also tried to use an import duty calculator and it didn't seem like much extra (less than a tenner) but I guess that doesn't take into account any handling fees or whatever else.

Go with the bass with the nicest neck and that feels the most comfortable, as a learner it doesn't really matter about the pickup configuration as long as you got somewhere comfy to rest your thumb whilst playing the bottom string - decent basses all sound similar enough for pickup configuration not to matter. For me, comfort and the neck the most important thing. I think some of the best necks on (new) budget basses are Sire, second hand Yamaha (not the super cheap ones) are also lovely

Thank you for your feedback Sean, we are sorry for some experiences you have had in the past. We have been over stretched here for a long, long time now, but have just taken on another full-time member of staff, we have also just improved our warehousing and stock control systems. This should take a lot of pressure from our colleagues which will give them more time and to deal with all situations in the best way possible. We are also implementing an appointment based system, which will allow more one on one time with our customers, again allowing for a way better standard of service. Apologies again, hopefully we can welcome you back as a customer someday BD

Back when I was playing 5 string basses, the 2 basses I gigged with were both Ibanez, one fretted and one fretless. Among the genres I played on them were: rock, pop, reggae, soul (you get the picture). I never had anyone question the tone of my basses, quite the opposite. Ibanez instruments are well made and, because of the reduced dimensions over Fender type basses, very comfortable to play.

Highly tempted to get some pretty wood and have a bash at making something like this for my ABG. I've got some marine plywood with quite highly-figured top plies... hmmm...

Under "breakages" I have ordered a new volume pot. The old one crackles like mad amd no amount of Servicol switch cleaner will resolve. It's going to be a bit of a mission to replace as the new pot isn't a straight swap. The old one is soldered to the preamp board and is much longer. This one will have to be fitted to the bass body and have extension wires to the preamp.

This. Over my many years of playing I’ve found that if I am really into an instrument I will find a way of playing it that works, and if it’s not doing it for me I just won’t play it. Doesn’t matter about the string spacing or pickups if I enjoy it I’ll adapt my playing to make it work. Over time, and some that may be months or years, I’ll work out where I want to go next and for me that’s been a lifelong journey involving 4 strings 5 strings fretless etc but bottom line is that I have a bass that I WANT to play every day and that’s the best instrument you can aspire to. IMO.

Settling with my Anagram and found a NAM profile(Tech21 Red Ripper) that can do something similar so this one must go. Bought from the US including postage and customs. Paid more than my selling price. Only thing missing is the pink paper packaging wrap, won’t affect the tone though 😂 Cash is king! But can part exchange for a Cali Bass Compressor v2 in silver. Any questions, feel free to message me.   Chad
