Saw the Crow live Shepherds Bush Empire '94. Birthday prez from my GF at the time. She brought out Clapton On Sea for a couple of tracks, which i didnt particularly like since i aint a fan of his. Still, a brilliant gig tho. She has class, and played some kinda Les Paul bass, amongst some guitar playing

Laney R500H 500w Bass Amp I'll put some current pics up tomorrow but here's the thread from when I bought it off here. I've only used it live a couple of times. Moving it on cos I've just bought an EBS 350 off here and I don't need 3 amps. No trades ta I have the original box and courier will be around £10. There was one on eBay from Japan for £400+ so obviously it's rare, desirable and probably lawsuit era 😂 New pics added Original post

Knackered truss rod and fingerboard removal HELP PLEASE
Andyjr1515 replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
If you were trying to replace the fretboard (rosewood only) then presumably you could do it like this (though why would you...any major modding on an old Fender will potentially destroy its resale value, however well it's done) but remember that a Fender neck is a single-action truss rod, inserted into a curved carve from the back and then hidden by the 'skunk stripe'. I don't mess with genuine Fender necks so I'm not the one to ask - even the frets are done differently - they are inserted from the side of the fretboard... -
Great news. I have subscribed and looking forward to receiving my first issue. Is the sample edition available in print form?

From memory i bought this during lockdown for when i would be gigging on guitar and not bass....never happened and my bass Pedaltrain is still going strong so this is just taking up space. Apart from the Velcro applied to the board everything else is near mint. Collection and cup o' tea from Warboys PE28 or can post to mainland UK

Does it have a truss rod ? i remember for years he refused to install rods in his "wish" "basses" so they had really wonky necks and insane action!

It's the white Hamer Scarab bass that I always associate him playing, from the "Hysteria" era.

Knackered truss rod and fingerboard removal HELP PLEASE
Belka replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
Just out of interest, would this work on the 1962-1982 veneer rosewood boards seen on Fenders, or might that be too fiddly compared to a slab? -
I see the BTB865SC 's pushing £900+ with VAT/Duty/shipping from Reverb EU 3rd party JPN sellers but if your will to go direct using the Zenmarket/hardoff route with surface shipping you can get one from Japan landed into the UK for about £700 'ish (if your willing to wait 3 months! for surface shipping) im thinking of doing this but need to move some other gear first (not somuch for the money just the space!) Surface shipping is about £40 pretty sure its just me that refuse's to pay £120+VAT for air shipping!

I agree - never use steam. Steam can be useful for getting a glued neck off, but I quite agree, never a fretboard. -

Wow that's not a fretboard that's a veneer ! Mad skill that you got that off in one piece! /bow Set temp Med/High to start will and up it to max if you need to, as you start to get heat into the wood/tools it will become easier/faster to move onto the next section. (also i never need to add any steam myself) -

Knackered truss rod and fingerboard removal HELP PLEASE
Andyjr1515 replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
Probably a bit quicker - as you are moving it forward a few mm at a time, the wood ahead gets 'preheated' as the iron gets close - but yes, probably 30mins to 45mins -

Schecter do have some great basses imho . It’s true about resale value though . Dont know why . Looking at that picture , I wouldn’t have recognised Rick Savage . Perm gone . Looks great though. -

I use a travel iron on hottest. Not sure what temperature that is compared with a standard iron but it feels pretty hot to me so probably a 'cotton' setting or similar -

Knackered truss rod and fingerboard removal HELP PLEASE
Andyjr1515 replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
Forgive the poor scaling of the shots - I've directly pasted some random JPGs This was the thin fretted fretboard of one of @Owen's basses back in 2024. See how close the bottoms of the fret slots are to the bottom of the fretboard...that's not a lot of wood! The problem was a totally seized - and fully adjusted - trussrod With due warnings to Owen that it might well snap, I got out my trusty travel iron and sat it on the heel end for around 10 minutes, testing every now and again with a Stanley Knife blade: Once the glue was soft, I progressively moved the iron forward, sliding a steel sheet I use for bending acoustic guitar sides into and along the softened glue. Any thin steel can be used, a decorator's platter, a thin scraper - main thing is to slide horizonally...NEVER lift!! And you DON'T RUSH, and inch it along a few mm at a time: And eventually, it's off...and still in one piece. That is one well k*******d trussrod! : -
GAS is a a terrible thing. So there I was all content after a really good year, then boom and 'must have ' bass punched a mighty hole in the budget. So, my two latest acquisitions need new homes. They are brand effectively and we all know the G & L story so this is it, want a new one?, you wont find any better. Check out my other listing for my SB-2 or take a look at this... NOW £450 Anywho. 3 TSB Jazz bass, the G & L version, spicier pickups than your average J type bass in this price range. Beautifully finished and in 10/10 condition. Vinyl wrapped plate easily removed . I have been after a nice example of this since seeing Ritchie Kotzens 'riot'. I finally pulled the trigger on this new one in the early summer and very pleased i am too or was until i fell for 'another' way more expensive J beast. As with the SB-2 i'd love to keep it but needs must. I love the bridges on these bad boys. Fully set up with fresh EB slinkies. Can ship at buyer expense, pickup from Rochester or exchange somewhere near to the M25.
