  1. Past hour
  2. ....although he now plays wooden necks again...... (will be a great bass assuming it's what I think it is) 👍
  3. I think Ric's plasticware (and shinyware in general) is the best in the business.
  4. A JazzRay! No, er... A StingJazz... Aha! A JazzMan! That's better. Interesting how several of us are going down the same route and creating something unique. 😎 Mine is a sort of Vintage & Modern theme - taking the things I like best from my walnut Status S2-Classic and my workhorse American Original 60's Jazz. Typically, you can't get the Fender Pure Vintage 64 pickups anymore, but I've already got a set of the 66's (from the current Am.Vintage II) in another bass. So in keeping with the '66 theme, I've ordered some Gotoh lollipop tuners in black, like the rest of the hardware.
  5. That would be great, but we're talking places like Cheltenham if we go south, which is only tangentially Midlands. Then there's Warwick / Leamington Spa etc. Again, we're a bit on the western fringe. I realise that Nottingham, where we had the one I organised back in - 2021, was it? Or 2022. Anyway, it didn't suit everyone, by any means. Google says Meriden! Or Fenny Drayton. Not much help. Sorry.
  6. This was on my list but somehow I tried this in Bass Direct over the weekend and it followed me home. I'm really not a fan of white pickguards but this bass was all sorts of shades of amazing in both feel and sound palette. I even liked the price. I had to do it. There are options to configure a darker colour on the Public Peace website but not sure I can be bothered 🙂 Shout out to Adam their newest staff member. Really cool guy.
  7. Ooh, it's ready to collect!
  8. Chushin Gakki, Japan, mid 70s. Pickups may have date codes. On the whole these are very, very good copies. Might have been branded Shaftesbury but these turned up with a bunch of names, and if the bass is in Sweden it probably had a local importer or retailer's brand. Odd comment about the 'cheapest possible quality' parts. The pickguard's a bit of plastic, not sure the bits of plastic Rickenbacker use are made of superior material! The closed-back, cast button tuners are Gotohs, and should be perfectly serviceable. Shergold used them back in the 80s. Eko never made a 4001 type but Italian manufacturer Gherson made some nice ones.
  9. What can I say? Pete is an absolute legend, the Höfner gig bag I bought arrived quickly and well packed. We had a great conversation over the transaction too. Thank you Pete!
  10. 😆 nice find!! Brilliant! - I'd forgotten about that one! 😁 super cool lil bass too! {edit} I was writing about sending a bass in to a flatter response set up, here's a good example! (The reverb has nothing to do with me).
  11. Nice one. That chord progression though... 🤯
  12. I missed out circa 2007 but I’ll have one of these one day!
  13. Surprised you didn't recommend this. It's woody by definition.😀 I'll get my coat
  14. Today
  15. Agreed, I need to gig the Hofner Club and my Gibson Thunderbird more often. Daryl
  16. Thanks Dave, We have 3 " hot" gigs in a row under our belts now. This Saturday we're doing a Harley event with a 12 noon start time. This won't be The Harley Motor Restaurant . I believe this will be a dealership event. Daryl
  17. A fair few answers there, much appreciated. I will check out the suggestions mentioned. As always it's a question of available funds. If I could afford it I would just buy one of everything ! 😆 My current amp will do about 300 watts into one of the 2x10 cabs, 600 into both cabs, however each one weighs 21kg which is the downside to it. My fitnmess is currently ok but I'm not getting any younger, and am built like Mr Bean, so really just trying to make things a bit lighter, more compact and manageable for me to lug around when it comes to it. Both my electric and the acoustic do sound great through the current rig though and have found the room eq/ hi/low pass/notch section on the amp to be a genuinely useful feature. I am intending on this being a 3 piece, 4 at most, no full drum kit, more percussion/cajon so nothing too intense. Gig wise small-medium pub size venues will be the aim initially.
  18. Maybe Gregory Peck (The Wooden Actor...)..? ...
  19. You could try running the search in google with site:www.basschat.co.uk/<the for sale area you want to search> and -sold
  20. That's what I call a "high end" gig. Nice. Daryl
  21. They made semi-acoustic models.
