  2. Hooky has two with The Light, usually his son Jack on the second bass (with a couple of regular stand-ins for when Jack is off smashing pumpkins, including The Coral's excellent Paul Duffy). They'll trade off between taking high or low bits across the set, huge sound.
  3. Driving With The Brakes On - Del Amitri
  4. Yes. I use an Ischell mic with phantom mixed in with a Yamahiko piezo pickup on my jazz bass. It's great. The mic preamp is nice and quiet too. It's pretty thirsty on power with 48v phantom switched on, so you'll need a decent PSU.
  5. Yes its built in and permanently on.
  6. These were a big deal in the unplugged era of the ‘90s . Bargain ! Glwts
  7. Stop! - Sam Brown
  8. Its a tough one with equalisers versus notch filters as the latter tends to have a very narrow filter. A standard EQ can sometimes carve away too many adjacent frequencies when endeavouring to create the same amount of attenuation that a notch filter typically does to surgically deal with troublesome frequencies. The EBS' Stanley Clark and MB preamps do have a notch filter, the Bergantino Super Pre uses 'anti-feedback' processing which is useful for acoustic instrumnets struggling with howling and feedback. Another notch filter of sorts, but of the dynamic EQ variety.
  9. Bit too much colour on that Jam pedal though...
  10. Good lord, how did I forget Andy. I think he may be a bit of a busy bee - I've not seen him for a while. Good call, thank you.
  11. small board, big sound!

  13. Curve were a fantastic band. I wished I'd seen them live.

  16. I went through a bunch of different dirt pedals in a quest to find one I liked, including guitar pedals as well as bass-specific pedals. I ended up with the boss BB-1X bass driver.
  17. Each to their own, I'm not hating on it. it's just that whole generic indie scene of the late '80's was not my cup of tea musically. Most of just sounded like a racket to me. Still does now. I have always been out of step with fashion when it comes to what music I like, though, going back as far as I can remember. That said, I've got some great memories of those days, including going to to gigs by bands like Fudge Tunnel, Silverfish,Galaxy 500 et al with various indie chicks and pretending to enjoy myself. There were some very notable exceptions though, like Curve who I went to see at their first few gigs and who had something very special from the beginning. Only one bass player, but a very, very good one.
  18. Epica and Amaranth, with Charlotte Wessels at the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam next Saturday (Feb 7th).
  19. Deadbolt Will sometimes use two or even three basses
  20. They're a good bunch of lads. Their songs suggest they have a keen interest in wild mushrooms commonly found on the Quantock hills (so i hear). Are you in a local metal band as well.
  21. There was a US made 50th anniversary jazz bass in 2010 that looks very similar to this one. I wonder if that's why they released this in 2010 to coincide with the 50th anniversary
  22. Serek Midwestern 2 for sale, very good condition. Dark star pickups, light in weight, with Serek gigbag included. £2400 collected from Newcastle.

  23. I’ve heard of Gnome and most definitely heard of Nomad Lizard as I mixed them at a metal night in Taunton back in November i think. They had a serious groove about them 🤘🏻
  24. Can’t still be for sale surely?
  25. Hey folks. I'm selling this lovely rig! Sounds heavenly and the cab has never been gigged which means it's in nearly mint condition. The amp is a little worn but works perfectly and sounds wicked through the 210 with both active and passive basses. Vanderkley 210MNT £650 (comes with non original cover) Markbass Little Mark Tube £350 (comes with vanderkley spartan bag) Would ideally sell them together in which case buyer gets a FREE Tsunami speakon cable! Message me for more pictures and for any questions. Cheers
