    I think the tort guards can make or break a bass, the only ones that come close to the originals are spitfire and Avantguard , but they are really expensive

    I sold a p bass with them on to a guy who was clearly 73,989 times more talented than me. He said “I love the bass but what are these strings? They're amazing” I said “adagio cheapies” and he looked at me like I was lying. They’d been on there for two years -recommend that you give them a shot. If you don’t get on with them, list them on here for £7 and I’ll take them off you

    Brilliant post, Spencer! For me, it's the white/parchment/mint that always looks wrong. They make a nice bass look cheap (unless it's mint on aged white), because that's what the Mexican basses had in the 80's & 90's. A nice dark red or brown tort goes with practically everything, and a black scratch guard solves all colour crimes. I recently put a tasteful dark red tort on a black American Professional II Jazz I took in as a p/x. Looks much better than the OEM mint.

    Ah, well that makes a lot more sense then - an independent operation but with a license to use HB branding and import a select product line. That tracks with what I've seen over the last few years (as an observer). Guitar Fetish will no doubt have been hit hard.

    TBG seem to change the pricing on their site once a bass has sold from basses I’ve been following. I don’t know if it’s to do with sale minus commission and they record that value on the site.

    Gewa BS 25 Double Bass Bag 3/4 Looking to get rid of. Happy to give away for free. Collection only. I don't have much space to keep it around, so will be looking to throw away towards the end of Feb. Just in case someone wants a case. Used for 10+ years so general wear and tear (show in pictures, do message and ask for more if needed) Handle by bridge has slight rip through, can be an easy fix by sowing a patch/securing on if you are good with your hands. All other handles are fine. Wheels for easy transportation (wheels are in great condition, I don't really use them so has good amount of life left) Has shoulder straps (tucked away as I don't use them) so should still hold well. 25mm of padding, sufficient to keep protected - been protected enough travelling in and out of London. Faux leather parts have been peeled off with age. Dimentions: Total length: 186 Body Length: 112 Upper Body Width: 53 Lower Body Width: 67 Height inc. Bridge: 45

Extra Long Scale so fit a 35” scale or a string through body. 60/70/94/115/135 Tapered B string, which makes a big difference on the quality of the sound you get from the B string, especially with Tapes. Bought on here for £45 as barely used, I put them on a bass and played them for maybe 40 mins and ended up selling the bass so they came off, only have 1 x 35” scale bass now and that’s got rounds on so they’re just in my string box - too good (and expensive!) to just sit doing nowt, and I’m after some flats for something else so I’ll sell them. They cost £52-£80 a set depending on where you go, too much to take a punt on and see if you like them, so I’ll make them cheap enough to give em a whirl! £28 Posted Cool video (not sure about the headband tho) of someone with a set on a P7 👇
