  1. Past hour
  2. Ive been left very cold by the expensive basses ive tried. Ive played a few Dingwalls and couldnt wait to get back to a Fender. Too sterile for me. Same with a very expensive bass that i cant remember its name, had about 100 knobs and switches and no soul.
  3. Great MXR80 2 channel DI very good sounds (ground lift button cover missing but button works) and the awesome Keeley compressor - very simple but very effective both £90 each inc postage or £165 for both No trades or offers on these please - as priced to sell
  4. So have I, and they are great. Good with the Basschat strap locks too±

That’s what the livestream is “in aid of” or that’s the justification of it, but they’ve really pulled the big guns out - they’ve invited loads of guitar influencers to Line6HQ for it and really built it up. The speculation is that they’ll announce Helix firmware 4.0 which will have NAM compatibility but that could be wishful thinking or completely unfounded - they might even announce or give a teaser for next gen Helix 2.0 but the counter to that is that the current Helix software is only 18 months old and so I’m leaning towards the former, but I haven’t got a clue I to don’t even own anything Line6 anymore (but that may be about to change post-livestream if they do announce NAM compatibility). The livestream is 7pm tomorrow (11th) I’ll link it below 👇
  7. Good stuff! I'm a big fan of their straps. I've got two so far and they're excellent.
  8. That’s another pedal I’ve looked at in my quest to find some saturation that I like, sounds real nice too from the vids I saw
  9. Have you tried uv resin? You’d still have to use heat, or a lot of patience, to spread it. But with the use of a uv torch it sets immediately. Meaning less retraction. And if it did retract a little bit, it’s a quick, seamless fix. You’d probably be able to use it to fix the edges of that pedal. I bought the stuff for model making, but I am finding all sorts of uses for it.
  10. Best Jazz necks I've played - and that's a lot. Wonderful basses, I just wish the body curves/contours were a little more dramatic and organic. I really like the colour and MHS on this - really quite rare
  11. Was my local 7 nights a week in 80's. Happy days. Dave
  12. What's the old saying? Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Oh that is interesting news re. there being a 'big announcement' tomorrow. Because Line 6 announced Helix on 11 June 2015 i.e. tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of Helix!
  14. What's for certain is that a decent passive Fender can sound as good as anything at any price. I prefer that raunchy Fender tone to most very expensive boutique basses.
  15. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  16. Brand new set of Earnie Ball Cobolt Flatwound strings in sealed pack. 5 String, long scale 45-130. Price includes postage to UK
  17. This is a really good demonstration of the difference.
  18. Like a Prayer - Madonna. Guy Pratt giving it large.
  19. I was using a Strymon Deco which is great as well but haven’t tried the two together as of yet
  20. Sorry, I don’t think you’ll regret it
  21. While pretty basic compared to many of the examples in this thread I'm still pretty pleased with my latest DIY pedal - the Quasi-Jive! I had started to make a stripboard Jptr Jive when I realised a Zvex SHO clone PCB would get me 95 % of the way there. I added my favourite of the clipping diode options from the original Jive, and voilà! I'd like my toddler to decorate it but I'm not sure he has the attention span to finish the job.
  22. Thats interesting and I totally forgot to mention the pickups. The hum canceling ones have benefits but definitely impact the sound as well. It’s kind of a pick your poison thing. Will Lee basically wanted a more fenderish bass than the regular sadowsky J is.
  23. It’s Chapati And I’ll Cry If I Want To - Barbara Gaskin & Dave Stewart
  24. I have to sat that the finish is superb. I loved it and IMO much nicer than a glossy lacquered finish from the factory. When I received the bass it was obvious that something wasn't right. I took it to the tech I use for his opinion. He got back to me saying that the neck would need clamping, frets levelling and possibly steaming. The fretwork as mentioned is very good otherwise. I sadly couldn't afford to get the work done, I really had to push the boat out to buy it in the first place. So even if (and don't think you would) spent 300 quid on it to get it right, it's still a great price for a Stingray. And at 4.1 Kg, it's no boat anchor either.
  25. This sunday was my bands first gig this year. A nice three band matinee, at the Fiddlers Elbow in Camden with us opening the show. Decided to take the tube, so went as lightweight as possible, my bass (mendel Precision) and my tech21 dUg, going through venues Fender Rumble. Stage sound was great, audience was very receptive and we had a nice little suprise... We are an originals band, but frequently throw in a cover of Staring at the Rude Boys, by the Ruts. As were playing it, the Ruts bass player Segs walked! We had a nice chat later - great chap. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon!
