  1. Past hour
  2. The same bass, prior to the reshape and with the decal intact? Looks like a black pickguard, but presumably it is dark tortoiseshell. colour photo. Post chop, looks like a boggo Sunburst P Bass.
  3. The Thin Slice - Pink Floyd
  4. Glorious bass. Want to keep it but can't justify (I'm up to 10 now, something's gotta give... My marriage, maybe...arf) Excellent condition. Some small marks on headstock. Hard fitted case (not Warwick). The price on the Warwick website to buy one of these new is mind-bending. This particular bass would be considered 'Masterbuilt' under today's classification. This bass was built in 2010 which was before they stamped them with the title (info from the Warwick forum). Trades considered. Any high end 5s or Vintage Fenders (with cash either way if agreeable). Thanks for looking!

  6. Loaf To Loaf You Baby - Donna Summer
  7. I believe that's Ray Jones bass player for the Dakotas from (Nov 1961 - July 1964). I think that's a standard black P bass with the bottom of the headstock hiding behind Ray's suit jacket. I say that because in those days they didn't make early Precision basses with rosewood finger boards just maple with the early small headstock shape. After looking at some of the other photos I've changed my mind, that DOES look like a mod!
  8. I've been playing in bands since 1967. I don't get involved with house sound or lights. Daryl
  9. Joe Jackson's Look Sharpe! Because I really like Graham Maby playing. Pure pop goodness.
  10. For Maple Road, we're a little different than other local bands. We have dedicated sound and lighting. Our band leaders husband has all the sound and lighting set up before we arrive. There's probably a few people around when we're checking. However for most of the gigs we play I don't think it matters. For the occasional theatre gigs it's completely out of our hands. There's a set time for the sound checks before the doors open. Daryl
  11. Driving home, our old drummer " dropped off " after a late night gig and ran into a fence. He announced he was leaving the band at the next gig. His wife was not happy with the event. Daryl
  12. I wouldn't suggest anyone buy a loudness meter as some sort of gauge for your performance volume. It'll give you more bad info than good, and steer you in the wrong direction if you don't know how to interpret it. Cheap decibel meters aren't accurately calibrated, and they show a peak value. Proper loudness motoring takes in to account that music is a dynamic source and measures with averages over a particular timescale (often a 15 minute average, but usually no less than 5). If you stand at the back of a pub with a cheap meter you'll see all sorts of shocking big numbers pop up when the dynamics are up or the drummer throws a big hit in - if the untrained person holding it tells you "you got up to 112dB!" and then you're moderating what you do based on that, you're chasing your tail because that momentary peak means nothing in terms of genuine perceived loudness in the room.

  14. Any bass player from Ozric Tentacles. Or Marcus's bass playing on any of Luther's records. His bass playing on this is the reason he is regarded so highly imo. It's just a masterclass in for the record understated slap.

  18. Ever wanted that mega Bi phase action like a musitronic! But smaller and cheaper. These are difficult to find, so my last bump.
  19. Wunderhorse at Cheese and Grain in Frome....not been there before. Little warm up gig before they play Glastonbury.
  20. Ropy Music and their spinoff, Poxy Music. The High Ladas Motorheap
  21. It's hard to shift them but on the other hand, the sale of one CD generates about the same profit as having 1,377,339 people listen to the album on Spotify.
  22. NOW £80 POSTED Mackie 802 VLZ3 mixer Cracking little desk, I've used it for home recording and gigs - sounds great for both. Tons of features, great mic preamps, full working order, complete with PSU (euro plug with adaptor). Selling as I'm just not using it any more. Manual here http://kunstencentrumbelgie.com/overbelgie/802VLZ3_OM.pdf I'm in Manchester over the next couple of weeks - happy to meet at a services or even drop off if you're near the right motorway. Trades - I'm interested in Jamerson's original P Bass or *possibly* a compressor pedal - feel free to offer anything else.

  23. I have one, it is very good, possible to plug in your mic for your volume and eq and then a line out to the main PA ….it took me a while to sort that out. I position it on a low mic stand about 3 feet away facing upwards to me/my mic.
