There is probably very little in it between the two, tiny amps, light cabinet, sounds good. My regards to Aberdeen, I was last there in the late 70's as a Petty Officer on the frigate HMS Scylla (affiliated city going back to WW2). HMS Scylla was sunk as a diving site in 2004. Although I am a scuba diver, I have never dived it and now prefer the Red Sea or the Maldives to the English Channel! All this has absolutely nothing to do with bass amps, just an 'uncle Albert' dribbling into his pint glass......

Actual rosewood fretboard too I think. They're going to be hard to resist at that sort of money. -

Good afternoon If you've been following the old thread, you'll see that me and @prowla are going to try and sort something out for a basscentric get together. Provisionally, we're looking at St Sebastian's Memorial Hall, Crowthorne, Berkshire. The room is decent (and there may be side rooms), good parking, connections, railway. At present, no date...I'll wait until the hall comes back to me with available dates. Here's a link to the hall. Hopefully it'll prove adequate. We'll need raffle stuff, a guest or two, discussions etc. Let this evolve. In the meantime, add your name to the list. Cheers Paul

I totally get what you're saying second hand vs. new. I wasn't suggesting you had anything against the seller - just trying to put your mind at ease, that's all. But if you'd like another data point for your investigations - my BH250 was also second hand. Probably doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but just giving you all the info I can think of which is relevant. The BQ250 does also look like a great shout, but it's always a compromise. I did consider it when I was looking for a backup amp. With the BQ you get a more controllable preamp gain (being a pot rather than a switch between two levels on the BH), a clip light, an extra band on the EQ and built in compression (which, arguably you can have on the BH if you load up the Spectracomp toneprint). But you lose the built in tuner, the mute switch and the Toneprint of the BH. For me, the features found in the BH were more important to me than those found on the BQ Believe me, I was sceptical about the simple passive/active gain switch vs. a knob - but it works well for me in practice so I guess the two levels the switch works at were well chosen. Both amps are probably great.

** The 15th South East Bass Bash - Sunday 12 November 2023 **

OK, started forming a queue. I'll wait for the rental quote and hall availability dates to come through. MODS! Can you close this thread to comments and I'll start a new thread. -
This is true, and one of the reasons the SE Bash worked so well.

As per messages, I'm in!

Interested! Whilst multiple rooms would be the ideal, in the absence of that I’m sure we can come up with a cool event with a slightly different spin, as @NancyJohnson says

I would loved to have seen this!

My go to 'can do it all fuzz' is the Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler V2. Annoyingly there are very few demos and most of them just show off the extreme stuff it can do, which, IMO, isn't its strongest point (also there are a few bass videos to the V1, but the V2 is a very different beast). It does amazing thick fuzz, from classic muffins, to stoner, all the way up to synth lead stuff. It's a seriously awesome bit of kit and one that I've never even had a hint of 'maybe I should sell or upgrade for something else' since the day I got it. And that's a rare feeling.

Dark, Broad, Woody Jazz Pickup Recommendations?
BenTunnicliffe replied to BenTunnicliffe's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm actually looking for something that does have fairly tame, dipped mids rather than something that is really aggressive in that area. I'm forever pulling out mids so that I can sit beneath everyone else in the band! Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone!
