  1. Past hour
  2. Aguilar Tonehammer DI boxed with instructions. Some marking to paintwork but fully functional and sounds great! Postage to a Uk address included
  3. Stick a gold anodised pickguard on it and keep it 😎
  4. Again, do you not understand how this place works Jack?
  5. I'd wait to to see if it became a massive hit before I threatened legal action. Somebody else bears the initial costs and he then reaps the rewards. Mind you the chances of this happening to me involves complex maths with the probability circling zero. More chance of Donald Trump making sense, actually no, I have more chance of writing a number 1 hit than Trump making sense. Rob
  6. Ta-da!!
  7. Trace Elliot probably stuck the caps on after realising that Geoff Capes was the only human capable of lifting a Trace Elliot 4x10 combo on top of another cabinet.
  8. Sorry misunderstood. CAD = Cardboard Aided Design
  9. Here's most of the bits. I need to cut and drill the aluminium backbone and floor. I've done the drill guide for this, and thats about 90 mins of work with pillar drill, tap and die set, and finger grinder followed by lots of hand work with a file. The wiring is all done, I'm printing a pickguard in white as I write this. The neck heal all fits the neck, strap buttons are done. I do need to put a small amount of maple veneer on the back of the neck, but need to source some first. I really want to do a proper quality paint finish on it, but wondering if I can do it before the SW Bass Bash so it'll dry.
  10. Hi, Just spotted this on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/167HdLzW7L/? Surely, for £150 it’s like for free i guess..
  11. Was this the amp in Blackburn that was on Gumtree for £120 - if it was you got a good deal as I would have had that if it wasn't for the fuel costing more to get it! RE a matching 4x10, should be able to find one for under £100. There are a bunch of very optimistic people trying to sell them for crazy amounts, but if you look at the other thread you will see I have found plenty similar cabs for under £100 (I think I've picked up two 4x10s in the last year for £90, one with a head as well). Worse case scenario is to buy a couple broken ones and combine the speakers.
  12. I just mean as a temporary experiment to find the best locations.
  13. And those positions in mm from the bridge are...? I can easily print two pickguards with the mounting points in different positions, so could do a 60's, a 70's position and/or a Musicman / Jazz Bass 70's bridge position. Rob
  14. The original rail concept is long gone. Too many small hassles.
  15. Because I'd have to have designed that in from the start on this bass and I didn't do that. I did design a pickup system that runs on carbon fibre (!) rails for my headless bass. It was very, very fiddly, very time consuming to design and build. It actually is on the headless bass now, so if anybody at the SW Bass Bash wants to see it, they can marvel at it. Part of the problem is that I had to take pickups that were designed to be screwed into a body and make them fit the sledges and rails whilst still fitting it all into the central cavity. It took a long time to get it right. Now if I did it, I'd glue the four mounting blocks in and simplify some of the other parts. Hindsight is great. I just want to make a first stab at where the pickups should go is all. I've found a site that suggest 54mm from the bass bridge for one pickup and 172mm from the bass bridge for the neck pickup. I also found sites arguing over 60's positions vs 70's positions. Thanks Rob
  16. Dropping the price to move this on, now £500.
  17. Still available. I'll pop it on the scales tonight and share the details with you!!
  18. Fired a guitarist for missing a gig and then a studio session. He threatened legal action if we used his songs live or used them to promote ourselves. I ended up quitting said band 18 months later once I realised that the drive from the others was not there and they had no desire to gig. They booked a studio session a month later and recorded and released a song that I wrote... didn't threaten them with legal action, did I?! The whole band split another month after that.
  19. At least cut the plate down a bit, like on one of the Variax guitars:
  20. It might if you could actually buy one.
  21. Why not put the pickups to rails? Or attach them like in Spalt vViper. https://www.spaltinstruments.com/instrument-gallery/special-projects/vviper/
  22. Yeah, it's a fine looking bass but that's brand new Status money so.........
  23. Should be pretty close. The action will have to come up slightly for the TIs at the very least.
  24. Misa Quadwave would solve the latency issue.
  25. Nobody asked, but how much does this thing weigh?
  26. I've tried a million different brands of flats, and I've got clear favourites. This is what I use: Fender AM Jazz: Labella Low Tension. I love these. So smooth feeling and sounding Fender 70's Vintera Jazz / Le Marquis Jazz: Fender 9050's on both. I'll never swap these strings out. Ric4003: Rotosound Jazz. These suit the Ric tones well, although I'd prefer if they were smoother. I think I'll swap these out for Labella's. Fender AM P Bass / Aerodyne Jazz: Tomastik TI's. They sound great, just a bit sticky for my liking. Hofner 500/1: Beatle Bass Labella's. Lovely and thumpy. My top two are the LB Low Tension's and the Fender 9050's. Either would be great for you I'd say. Be warned that the Fenders take a good bit of time to break in, but once there. Oh man. The sound..
