  2. I guess we will have to agree to disagree, Kev. I don't believe it to be my bass or signal chain as it's always first in the chain and this is with Passive P's and Active Rays. Playing is subjective of course, but I use both pick and finger style and half of our set has been solo octave work for nearly 10 years now so I'm confident in my technique when it comes to this stuff. Like I say - I'm glad it works for you and many others and I really wanted it to work for me. I've bought two off the back of glowing reviews (although there were a few others both on here and across the pond who've reported similar experiences). After purchasing an Anagram I was really excited to move my 3Leaf on. May try the MXR VBO next...
  3. I use the solo’d -1 Octave of the OC5 in vintage mode as my ‘clean tone’. It’s always on, 100% of the time. I can’t detect any latency at all and certainly no difference to my OC2. If there is latency, it’s the same as the OC2 and I no longer feel it having played with that pedal always on for years. I actually borrowed a 3Leaf recently from a friend (we did a swap over as he wanted to try my OC2), I couldn’t hear much, if anything, in it tone wise through my set up. There was certainly no difference in ‘feel’ for me either. This is of course, within the context of my set up. Maybe the pedal is more sensitive to other bass inputs, power supplies, effects chains etc? I’d love to do a side by side in person with someone who does feel like the latency is there! It would be great to see if I can feel it using their set up and if they can acknowledge it’s not there using mine etc. In the interest of science, where are you located @thisisswanbon?
  4. my much loved Audio Technica ATH WS1100 headphones have bitten the dust, and are no longer available, I've tried Audio Technica's ATH M-50X's but they haven't got the pronounced bass or depth of the WS1100's. I'm not interested in monitoring with them just listening and practicing through them and I like emphasised bass, any suggestions what to try next?
  5. I guess I can only conclude it's more sensitive to bass/signal chain/playing etc in that case. Odd but interesting.
  6. Phil's right. A banjo is not an instrument that sustains. Its construction - effectively a small drum/large tambourine with strings stretched across it - ensures notes decay swiftly. You could try different heads (an old style, thick head will deaden notes more), a heavier bridge as Phil suggests, experiment with string types and add a resonator if it doesn't have one fitted, but the nature of the beast will mean it won't sustain like, say, an acoustic guitar.
  7. Interesting point. Not sure i've seen a typical covers band do a promo vid. Seen wedding or some tribute bands do it. Dave
  8. It does though, which is why I'm confused about how yours is behaving in your setup? I've owned a lot of OC-2 and OC-2 types (including the 3leaf clone), and although it was a few years ago now, the OC-5 didn't fall short at all for me. Sure, it wasn't QUITE as rubbery in tone as the OC-2 when directly compared solo'd, but it was extremely close and I'd never tell them apart blind, and there was no latency. Didn't like the other mode at all, but vintage was spot on.
  9. There's the caveat though - almost. I've been running it in vintage mode and there is absolutely a difference - it's minimal admittedly but it definitely effects the attack and feel of the note. Punters don't notice it, and the band don't notice it but the fact I feel it and hear it is enough to detach me from what I'm playing. It was especially noticeable to me on sharp staccato riffs and fast upbeat octave playing (as is in the majority of the EDM stuff we do). I've had the same results on two new pedal, two years apart and I really went into this second one with an open mind based on all the positive experiences people have had - it's absolutely a thing.
  10. Does anyone have/use one please? I've just bought one, terrific keyboard but I'm concerned it's faulty. The vibrato/chorus switch (green) doesn't seem to alter the sound when changing between the two, constant vibrato (which lessens with the depth slider as it should) but if there is a chorus I can't hear it. Anyone have any experience with this?
  11. Quick demo of the bass as I received it. Dead rounds with some foam at the bridge. Enjoy 😎 Motown Blues (Jan 26).wav
  12. Slip Sliding Away - Paul Simon
  13. I would like Boss to make an updated MS-3 with more loops (6?) and options for parallel paths, plus all of the GX range effects also embedded. Make it powered by an IEC cable and include a pedal power supply too.
  14. Oh absolutely - It's not a bad pedal by any means and certainly does a good job of what it's intending to do. The only thing I can thing digitally that comes close is the SA C4, but I doubt you'll find anything better than the OC-5 for the guitar stuff you mentioned. It just doesn't do the soloed OC-2 thing as well analogue, which in reality is likely a small percentage of it's intended target audience.
  15. One of my favourite 1x12 cabs - incredibly solid in build and tone. This looks like an incredible bargain
  16. The Boss WL-20 is an amazing wireless dongle. It’s great at open mics (or anywhere you swap instruments) as the ‘little switch’ cuts it when you pull it out so there’s no ‘pop’. No finding the tuner or other mute. Just pull it out and stick it in the next one! It’s easy to charge the two dongles together and it lasts forever. I can do a rehearsal an open mic and a gig on one charge. But it only comes in 2.4ghz :-(. I’ve had to stop using mine live because the interference is so bad. If there was a 5.8ghz version I’d get one straight away!
  17. For sale, a Hipshot Kickass bridge (4 string) in chrome. This has been hanging around in a drawer with lots of other bridges and bits and bobs. It looks new though I suspect it's been fitted previously (but not by me). It comes with the adjustment key, 5 screws and the replacement/extra saddles shown in the image. It's a standard replacement Fender pattern. The bridges sometimes come with a couple of springs but the latter weren't supplied when I bought the bridge. I should be able to ship for around £3.00 in the UK. Any questions please just ask
  18. Heres mine
  19. I’m pretty confident that everyone who sold one of these regretted it pretty quickly 👍
  20. This was the result of some experiments I carried out on stacking cabs. To cut a long story short, it's important when stacking to keep the bass drivers as close as possible. With cabs that have a tweeter on top, that means placing the bottom one on its side, with the top one in its normal orientation.
  21. My blue sparkle
  22. Two used cables - a Fender Custom Shop Tweed (S-RA) 18.5ft, and a Fender Standard Coiled (S-RA) 30ft. Both tested and fully functional. Condition is used but very good. These seem to go for £19 and £27.50 respectively without postage, so hopefully £27.50 for both shipped in the UK is reasonable. Bank transfer only please as I can't currently use Paypal
  23. Hardware wise, he’s using a mix of Roland TD30 module, SPDSX Pro, Yamaha DTX 12 & occasionally pulls out a rather nice kit of triggers that look like maple drums. We both use Logic to host our software. My MacBook is running the bulk of the synth stuff & we slave his Logic to mine (I hit play, his runs in sync). I’ve no recordings of our stuff with the singer that I can share as yet, but I’ll try & get something up soon.
  24. My typical settings playing with a pick with Pre Shape ON and compressor ON post EQ I add back low mids just to bring the tone out a bit and the combination of Pre Shape and pick works well Pre Shape adds 50hz boost which you cannot achieve from the bass control EQ as it’s 70hz
  25. Agreed. I have a Markbass Compressore that I've stopped using since I got the Trace. The compressor's that good.
  26. In vintage mode, the OC-5 responded almost identically to the OC-2. If you're actively noticing a difference in latency, that's very odd. The other mode is an entirely different matter, but on the one I had, the vintage mode did not suffer any latency.
