My band is very different but we spoke to a promoter we know about how we get more specialist music venue gigs. He gave us lots of advice but the main thing was good social media. You need to have a good social media presence with photos, videos from gigs, regular engagement so you keep onto your followers. Our guitarist knows this stuff well and does a good job of it, though I'm sure there are people out there far more proactive. Studio recordings aren't as good as a decent live recording because a live recording shows what the venue actually gets... We paid about £600 to have someone video us live at a big gig, make a pro video for us, and laid over audio from a gig we recorded off the desk. It looks fancy and it shows our singer working a big crowd and the audio is unmistakably not the original. Then there's the slog of contacting all the venues to get absolutely no reply at all. If anyone knows how to break through that wall I'm all ears too!

It's not that expensive to ask some pro photographer to take pictures of you in the gig, or rehearsals, or some place... We have made it three times.

Small "Hifi" amp head recommendations sought!
lemmywinks replied to andyhaines's topic in Amps and Cabs
Try a Genz Shuttle if you see one on the used market, I played through the 10" combo and it was super clear (a little too much for me at the time!) and more than loud enough. Highs were crisp and the lows were fat but tight. The head detaches from the combos so this might be worth checking out if you're near Herts: There's also the more powerful/larger combo here: Also worth trying a Markbass F1 or F500 if you see a used one, very neutral sounding and built to last. -

Any amp with fan can go in a muffler box. Conduction into the box out of the warmed air, radiates to the outside to lose the heat before it gets too hot inside. -

Has anyone found a good one or two unit single channel compressor for bass? I think dbx used to do one, and back in the day everyone had a Drawmer, but now they all seem to be stereo compressors targeted more towards PA applications.

One other thing worth mentioning is how the band presents itself. I tend to look at 'the competition' and look at how they come across on the various platforms. It's not always easy, but you often find that video posted by audience members is poor quality, might include bum notes etc, as an example. We suffer from that as well, and so we do try and have a good think about what we post and whether it represents us as a serious band. The same goes for the images we post. I don't mean you have to group together at a derelict industrial location and scowl into the camera, but consider the images you post to present yourselves as a professional outfit. I'm not putting us forward as any kind of yardstick (far from it) but it's a thought process that you might consider.

It's also, sadly, an incredibly boring song, predictably bland and dull Pivoting away from the makeup and interesting music around the third album and embracing radio metal possibly meant they sustained a career, but made for very uninspiring music The worst part seems to be that they didn't even "sell out" for monetary reasons, but because the singer and guitarist didn't like how much attention the bassist and drummer were getting. Br br deng memes broke the singer's brain

Thanks. Was thinking of Steve Hawker. Will drop him a line.

Steve at Hawker Repairs has done some really good work for me before, including a really complicated repair on my Dingwall after the strap button screw sheared off insite the top horn. Give him a call and see what he says. https://www.facebook.com/hawkerrepairs/ But yes, if you're ok with soldering, it shouldn't be a big job. Take the switch out, and put a picture up here and someone will be able advise what you need to buy.

I really don't know how they haven't introduced a 4-string fretless, yet.

Line 6 HX Stomp XL, selling due to downsizing my board. It's in great condition, one chip to the paintwork on the front that was there from new. You can see it on the photos beside the A switch. It's spent the majority of its time on a pedalboard in a protective case. It currently has some custom and purchased presets on it, but I can reset it back to factory if preferred. It comes with velcro on the back, the rubber feet are in the box. Located in Devon. Can meet in person if nearby, or buyer decides on/pays for postage. Here's my feedback thread:

Walrus Audio Canvas Mono DI/LI. Selling due to downsizing my board. Great little pedal with with switchable pad, ground lift, and summing options. Adds a nice bit of colour too! There's currently velcro on the back, but easy to remove cleanly. Located in Devon. Can meet in person if nearby, or buyer decides on/pays for postage. Here's my feedback thread:

@amir93smith I've taken the liberty of rotating the photo in your post. It looks even nicer now

I`m wondering if it was a "snide", happens with strings, maybe people are getting in on the act with leads & stuff now.
