  1. Past hour
  2. I'm in lots of bands/dep occasionally and the golden rule (as others have said) is: If you've said yes to a gig and it's in your diary, you do it. I've just had to turn down a well paid wedding gig as I'll be up in Manchester (playing for next to nothing - an old mate's originals band) next weekend. This gig was organised months ago, so I'm doing it. If you start ducking out of gigs for better paid ones, people will quickly stop asking you to gig... you're only as good as your word. Use Google calendar and encourage everyone else to - this makes everyone's life a LOT easier and cuts down the potential for oopsies in my experience. As someone above said - if someone in your band is getting offered stuff like IOW festival.... that'd be a different matter. I'd imagine they've made that pretty clear from the outset! And as someone else said - get a few deps on board! As for people turning up to gigs/rehearsals without having practiced... that's just laziness, surely?!
  3. amazing, well done everybody
  4. Is that Daphne blue, or some sort of metallic? Slightly muted guard looks really nice. Darkening up that fretboard might also lovelify it further, too.
  5. Love that venue.....I played indoors there last year with US blues/rock guitarist Dudley Taft!
  6. Can't say I'm looking forward to tonight - had a stinking cold for the past couple of days and while it is abating, I'm still only operating on about 75% strength. Wireless shenanigans may be curtailed - hopefully won't need a chair.
  7. I thought all this stuff but some Chinese factories do good copies and you would not expect high quality for that price. Just happens to be my dream acoustic guitar….never heard the bass
  8. Only just spotted the post! never mind it has saved me some work! - I just can't resist figuring out faults, and possibly retaining a useful spare part, finding a new replacement at such a good price was handy. Polar seem to be selling off all of their old stock spares ATM so probably the last chance to get some of those hard to find items.
  9. I hate it when you trip up and your credit card falls in the card reader. Nice score there.
  10. Monaco is the best all in one solution cab I've ever played through. Proud and delighted owner here!
  11. Someone buying a used bitsa for £200 can't expect too much, but OTOH they could get a used Squier for similar. If the seller enthuses that they've put a lot into the build, set it up, and so-on, then perhaps the buyer could take them at their word. It's possible that the buyer got GAS and then someone else looked at it and went "hang-on, it's got issues". Given that you mention "customer satisfaction", it is possible that the buyer took you to be a business and is therefore viewing it as a fault with a retail purchase. They might've become disillusioned with the whole thing. I'd be wary of buying Chinese parts and tarting them up, as their quality can be questionable - I've had a couple of howlers. Mostly "yebbuts" from my side, but I do hope it gets sorted satisfactorily for both sides!
  12. I'm actually glad i'm not playing this weekend with all my Glam gear on it would be very warm. Today i will be mainly loafing. Dave
  13. We played a small pub where 3 of us started playing together at the open mic. We were a little concerned that we'd not get anyone there to be honest. The heat, the pub hasn't got an outdoor area or a way of throwing the doors open and getting some air flow, and several bigger events going on. Oh and it was a Friday. However, we had a decent turnout, the crowd were great and we've been asked back. Can't be bad.
  14. That stance does not fly in my part of the world. I'd go as far as to say being in one band and one band only is not the norm at all.
  15. Genuine Ebmm scratchplate in black pearl from an early 2000s USA sterling 4h. good used condition
  16. For me, because changing the blade is a massive pain in the joolies, I tend to stick with the widest blade. It's best for straight cuts, and anything with a tight corner can be achieved with relief cuts, rather than one continuous cut.
  17. Hi, now donated elsewhere, sorry should have said.
  18. I bought a little keyboard stand. We were just too loud as a band and the angled cab thing didn't help. It was more about elevating the cabs so you were in full battle with the cymbals.
  19. But as long as it was agreed by the whole band, I think that would be fine.
  20. One of my bands has an exception to this. The BL is also in a pro band (they are playing the IoW). They have to jump when called.
  21. SD and Passive. What value pots and particularly capacitor 0.1u, 0.47u? Couple of quid on a Cap swap
  22. I meant prioritise in the short term to cover a specific choke point. But if the choke points become frequent then perhaps it is time to have the difficult conversation? The alternative is either not knowing who will be playing on the night of the gig (if you can get a dep) or cancelling gigs because there's a clash. Neither are good and the latter will ruin your band's reputation. Could it be that some equate 'Blues Band' with 'easy 12 bar covers' and see it as something they can fit in without too much effort? (I should add that it's not my perception.) As you say, 'near enough is good enough'.
  23. Due diligence in relation to effectively and advertised as a used bitsa £200 bass being sold on FB Marketplace which you collected and played on collection (no issues) and then had for over 2 weeks (no issues) to then find an issue at the 2 week point that is so severe (rocker on 19th fret) that it is unplayable. I maybe doing the buyer a complete injustice and obviously I will sort the issue out. Other possible scenarios for the buyer are; I now don’t like the bass and can’t be bothered with the hassle of selling i needed a jazz bass for a gig/studio job and now can’t be bothered to sell it. I’m short of cash and can’t be bothered to sell it. The buyer dropped/damaged the bass The fret has moved due to the heatwave. the new neck has settled/aclimatised to a new environment causing the fret to move. the seller (me) didn’t check the frets and playability (I did) the seller (me) is a completely incompetent buffoon and scammer who knowingly sold a pile of excrement bass (I’d like to think I’m not) All I can do is offer to get it sorted for free and provide my version of the tale of woe for others to form their own opinions.
  24. Makes you work for your money on the night. 😂 I used to play in a "Friends of DP" tribute and we covered any band that was directly linked to DP which allowed us Rainbow, Whitesnake, DP and even Sabbath thru Dio. Loved playing Stargazer, that was one of my all time favs. So much energy and emotion in that song for a bassist. IMO of course. Dave
  25. Hello everyone, Having recently upgraded both my touring and backup boards with Cioks power supplies, this is now surplus to requirements. It has recently been serviced and re-capped, and everything works well. It comes with a useful amount of standard 2.1mm pedal leads in short & long lengths, including the useful Voodoo Labs 18V adaptor lead, and a pair of mounting brackets. Also included, but not photographed, is a brand-new Thomann UK kettle/IEC lead. Everything is in used, but good overall condition, and ready to go to work! EDIT: I'm looking for just £100 for the lot, which includes mainland UK postage. No offers or trades please. Please message me if interested, and thanks for looking! Etienne
