Dave and the team are great. I had a wide boy 500 head that I stood on it`s end after a gig in the Hard Rock Cafe in Glasgow, I turned my back and heard a thump and down it went. Gubbed. Spoke to Dave and I sent it down to them, they repaired it and sent it back via TNT and wouldn`t take any kind of payment so sent them some sweeties. I would still use an ABM of some description but having to lug about the band pa means I have a Rumble 800 but Ashdown`s service is second to none.

Agreed! This was especially impressive at the time because so many of these bands and artists were constantly getting radio airplay at the time. Believe me, we significantly increased the number of American bands to add to the list shortly afterward.π

What's the going rate for Stingrays nowadays?

That is pretty cheap for a 95! Having said that, the 95 that I had, sported a 'transition' bridge (or that's what I was told), i.e. the bigger, original style bridge, but without the damper felts. Also, the battery cover for my 95 had a metal battery cover, rather than the plastic battery box. -
It's just the way things are going my friend. You can subscribe to a HP laptop now. I've been a Linux user since 2007 and there always an alternative. If anything foss has got better as companies have got more greedy because more people are seeking alternatives. I can't pretend to be a recoding expert but when I have done it I've only ever used Ardour and free (price) software plugins. The results have been good enough, and it certainly wasn't the software that was holding me back it was talent.

I like how the website allows you to select a quantity. Dangerous when drunk online shopping. You could end up with 12 of the bastards and no house. -

If you are on the ball (1 hr ago) they still turn up cheap (I didn't buy it)! -

I understand from people who know such things that given the levels of incompetence and laziness in most large organisations, when things like this happen no matter how deliberate it might seem, thereβs 99.9% chance itβs a cockup, 0.1% chance it was planned π

That is a song that's on my list of bass lines to learn, even though it's unlikely i'd ever get a chance to play it live. All the best getting it under your fingers.ππΎ

Nice! I'd love to have one of these in mapleglo, but the pricetag is a bit more than my budget can accommodate.

I have been wanting to get some of this guy's stuff down on paper for a long time (I have an excerpt on here somewhere). I came across this one today. It is a duet with French lute/therebo player Claire Antonini. The important thing to note here is that Garcia-Fons plays a five-string double bass with a high C (not a low B) so that means there are some very high notes and a lot of the chart is written 8va. For transparency's sake, I should tell you that I tune my own five-string double bass the same way as RGF which is one of the reasons I am drawn to this guy. Also for the record, I can't play this in tune (yet). https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/nove-alla-turca-renaud-garcia-fons/

Hey I just stumbled across this kania bass thread, glad to see its found a home! I was wondering if you had any contact information on the person you traded it with.

I understand why you might think that but from my experience of RM/PF, their tracking is cr4p at best. I received a bass via them and it was still showing as being at the drop off point... hours after it was delivered to me. Conversely I had to enquire about a bass which I posted (insured 3rd party) and I was told that they concede since some form of RM/PF amalgamation that the system wasn't communicating as it should!
