80 years old, recovering from the flu, stupidly hot weather and allegedly spent £300,000 of his own money to bring the full band over from Vegas for this one gig. He's earned his time for me so I'll cut him a bit of slack...

Personally don’t find the Digbeth “weak” or “bland” at all - for me it added just a nice subtle “something”. I was getting tired of the BDDI and Darkglass models on the HX Effects and this is nice flavour of different which works really well for my Americana gig and my pop/punk gig. I guess a lot depends on what bass/amp/cab combo you have, what you’re playing and what you’re trying to achieve. For me, the Digbeth seems to be a good preamp with a voicing which works but I guess if we all liked the same thing the world would be hugely dull

The moulded jack socket on my KNA DB-1 pickup has started playing up, I think one of the contacts has lost it's springiness, the plug sits loosely in it and crackles intermittently. I like the pickup otherwise, so I'm happy enough to fit a new socket on there and stick with it. But I'm wondering what the best available line jack socket is. Some of the US made pickups come with Switchcraft jacks which I can't find over here, the locking Neutrik jacks are huge and won't fit in my jack clamp, otherwise there's the Rean model or acoustic guitar type endpin jacks with the strap pin washer removed. Which to choose?

The Dingwalls are cracking basses for the money but i'm not spending a lot on any more gigging basses after my VM4 was knocked off its stand by a drunken bum while sitting on stage and i was getting changed after the gig. If i can and have the space i take my bass into changing area when not on stage but not all changing rooms have that amount of space. Dave

Strange how some people keep their voice - Neil Young for one but Arthur Brown is another.

I did like my NG2 5 stringer and now sticking with 4 strings that would be nice too but its approx £1k more than the Epi. Dave
