  1. Past hour
  2. She was indeed, and she is their current bassist. I've known Becky for many years, in fact she actually depped for me waaaay back in the dim distant. Since then I've watched her career rocket off through the roof, and it's all down to her hard work and determination. She's a great example to us all, regardless of gender.
  3. I'm heading to the Peak District in September so could take it should anyone that way be interested. Cheers. Edit: Now been.
  4. Just bought a barefaced one10 off nick. All very easy and quick. Cab was packed well and delivered intact.
  5. We all get you’re a slave to your art and that’s great. I work as a writer and my job is being destroyed by AI. In August I earned nearly £1000 from depping which enabled my family to eat and enjoy our holidays. I earned £500 from my writing work. (Thankfully it’s picked up now.) Depping is a job like any other. Can you pick and choose your clients? I assume no. It’s the same thing.
  6. I have a couple of old Wem Westminster amps and love them for bass. I saw Richard Hawley on the Coles Corner tour last night and he was using both a Dominator and an earlier Watkins Westminster (with onboard tremolo) on stage. Sounded great. These amps are very capable and last for ever!
  7. Gregor form BassTheWorld is a big fan!
  8. Oscar Schmidt by Washburn Guitars. https://www.oscarschmidt.com/instrument-type/autoharps/ 😎
  9. I should also probably have mentioned that it comes with the GB Shuttle 4-button footswitch. And the soft cover.
  10. That's a great sound!
  11. Questions have been asked about the fitted hard case ...
  12. I should probably have mentioned that it comes with the original Owner's Manual.
  13. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/

  14. My eye (yes, I have two. Don't worry...) was caught by the cool looking lever at the top of the bridge - does this amazingly manly bass have a lever that deploys the string mutes? Bet MusicMan wish they'd thought of that before adding those fiddly tiny metal round screws under the bridges of Classic Stingrays. Seriously impressed by the intonation calibration markings on the bridge as well. If Bang & Olufsen made basses, they would make basses like this.
  15. From what's above, the problem is likely to be a failed capacitor underneath what looks to be nasty stiky-backed foam. The undulating foam suggests surface mount components, which can be tricky to work with The good news is tracing back from the output jack via the volume pot should lead you, eventually, to the dodgy capacitor (if that is the cause).
  16. Replied above - yes, reducing volume to 0% is a workaround for now. I've been putting up with it for a while but with some big gigs coming up I've now decided it's no longer "acceptable procedure"! Pics above - but I don't really know what I'm looking at and can't see anything recognisable to me as a capacitor. Sounds like that (or the pedal version posted by @chyc) might be less fiddly than replacing the capacitor inside the preamp circuitry, and a cheaper solution that replacing the entire preamp. Will check it out, thanks.
  17. I was very tempted for the Monza the first time I played it as well @Chienmortbb. I was loathe to upgrade my amp power though, and my Silverstone was plenty good enough for me. And I’m tight with money, lol. But the Goodwood is wonderful.
  18. I see depping for bands the same way as I see my graphic design day job. I am there to serve my client. If I think that they are VERY wrong I will politely suggest an alternative. Once. If my client chooses to ignore that advice I will produce them exactly what they want without further comment, take their money at the end and thank them for it, and ask what other projects they have for me. I won't have a moan about it, because it's not worth the effort. I might even use the work in my portfolio if the client is an impressive enough name or if their brand is relevant to attracting potential new business. It's gratifying when I do produce something that I can also be proud of from a creative PoV, but first and foremost I do it for the money, so I can pay the bills. However I think it is telling that the one piece of graphics work I have produced that will live on in the public domain after I am gone is something that I did for myself and not to any client-supplied brief. So, for me music is too important for me to waste my time playing songs I don't enjoy. Aside from the fact that I'm simply not talented enough to take on any depping job, I don't want to do that. I've played in covers bands enough to know that for me it's a route to hating songs that I used to enjoy. If I was good enough to be a dep I'd play the songs, take the money and leave it at that.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. Here's a bit more info and some photos.... The problem does not occur when volume knob is turned to 0%, or when the battery is removed. It does still occur when the battery is plugged in but the active/passive switch is set to passive. (This means at least I have a workaround as I can just roll of the volume between songs to activate switches.... but that's not really helpful in the middle of a song!)
  20. Have you thought about a two channel amp with independent EQ? Most of these have a footswitch control for channel switching.
  21. In the end it's what works for you, but personally I would never entertain the idea of non-programmable pedals for live use again. You should be able to do what you need with what you already have provided you are prepared to put in the effort creating and organising the presets and then having a couple of technical rehearsals with the band to fine tune them. It will also depend on how complex the EQ changes need to be. Most of the bands I have played with have required fine tuning of the EQ for every song in order to get the bass to fit into the right sonic space created by the other instruments also changing sounds for each song. And that doesn't cover any mid-song EQ changes required for when the bass needs to be more or less prominent. Without programmable EQ I wouldn't be able to do any of this.
  22. I hope not. By and large they make great basses, but their distribution has been patchy in Europe.
  23. Not a way to get ahead with depping... 😁
  24. Great basses for reasonable money back in the day. Prices are creeping up now and there are many butchered ones out there. I was lucky enough to find an unmolested Stingray 4 SUB in black not so long ago.
