My Monaco was awesome and if I had £895 I would invest in one I think the OBC112 probably aren’t for me as I still think they suffer from vibration. My MarkBass MB58R 122 Pure cab is a nice cab and weighs 17kg and is rated 800w. I get nice sounds out of it and it’s loud enough for a single use cab too
-
Nice! I love my regular sized one.

Email this morning (he’s been on hols) my cab should be ready to collect in the next week - so when I’m back from my hols 😁

Can't get enough of that band. I always say they are the one band I would play in a tribute band for 😆

That one had a 1974 pickup so it would be a no from me.

Impulse buy from Effects Bakery. https://www.effectsbakery.jp/en I had never heard of them and I wanted a univibe type thing. Most of their models are about £50 and available fast by ebay. It only took a week to get it from Japan and it sounds great!

I sold mine a while back and the Terror head as well. I bought a Barefaced Two10S to replace them and I tried various heads. I have now landed on a pair of LFSys Monzas and Ashdown RM800 v2, or Blackstar U700. I don’t think I’m going to move from this combination unless I win the lottery, in which case I would get 2 LFSys Monacos. The Orange cabs were nice, lightweight and matched well with the Terror head but the LFSys cabs are in a different league.

MARSHALL BB-2 Not to be confused with the original Bluesbreaker pedal, which was essentially a preamp-in-a-box - this is a dedicated, dual-mode overdrive pedal. "Boost" mode is a transparent-sounding clean boost, designed to push the front end of your amp harder, while "Blues" mode gives a much more shaped (and saturated!) tone, reminiscent of the original Bluesbreaker amps being dimed. I bought this pedal back in something like 2010. It was my main distortion effect for a while, and did a handful of gigs with me, but as I've experimented with new effects and different amps, I find myself using it less and less. I still have the original box and user's manual, which are a little worn in places (see pictures); the pedal itself is in excellent condition. Only one thing: the controls originally had black position indicators painted on them, which have mostly rubbed off over the years. Up to you whether you leave them as is, or paint some new ones on! Price includes postage to mainland UK. If you'd like it sent to a different country, drop me a PM. Open to sensible offers!

Bass-wise I've only bought Luminlay inlays from Japan, but have bought a fair bit of vintage camera gear from there with very positive experiences every time; they seem to take communication and customer satisfaction very seriously

I have listed this on Reverb at £850 and got some interest but would prefer a sale here. Make an offer of interested. Just putting out a feeler because new kitchens are more expensive than you think... I recently got this bass with the intent to use it in my 80s band. It's brilliant and it's rare and it's been made even better! It's a factory fretless, I've added a Nordstrand MM pup and a Retrovibe Stinger pre, as well as having a new nut fitted. It's wearing flat wounds and it's had a very recent full setup. Realistically I just don't need a second fretless, I barely play the first one and that is staying with me forever. If anyone is interested please drop me a line. Price is negotiable, just had to put a number in there. The pics are from before the upgrade, so on the plate there's now one less knob and a jack socket.

Sometimes you need a middleman as many Japanese shops are simply not prepared to deal with foreign sales. The two instruments I bought in person came from shops that would never have considered selling to me had I not been there in person with a native Japanese speaker to help out. As others have said Ishibashi are great, but they have people specifically there to deal with enquiries and sales outside of Japan. The only disadvantage is that as a foreign buyer you will need to deal with them through email and due to time differences and the fact that the instruments are also be on display in one of their shops, you can sometimes lose out to a local sale that occurs between receiving and replying to your enquiry.

Buying and Importing from Japan

Hi Neepheid Thank you very much for replying and for sharing your experiences. I've taken a quick look at Ishibashi web page (thank you for the link) and will take a closer look tonight. Definitely worth checking out. As for the 'Middle Men' personal shopper types thank you for flagging these characters up. On ebay in particular their adverts with different prices and juggled around photos are a bit of red flag are a bit of a giveaway so me thinks I'll steer clear of these ones. Just don't want the risk (almost as bad as other stuff advertised on evilbay where the seller claims 'UK based seller' but 2-3 weeks, or more, after ordering the goods eventually arrive and you know damn well they've come from abroad - usually PRC
