  3. Their drummer was on double duty and depped for the Metallica tribute after the Fury set!
  4. Its loudness is dependent on the sensitivity and output of your cab. I have the of 20t and tested it on a 102dB/1w 4x12. It fell just short in a metalband setting with koud drumbeast and 2 standard guitarists going in 100w tube amps. The 50t might have pulled through there. Just saying that the amp is not the only factor in the signal chain.
  5. Most likely not. To kill an opamp you would need a very big electromagnetic unit used in hospitals (MRI scanner) and the IC could still survive.
  6. It all depends on the power of the magnet.
  7. Yep, the opamp could have been affected.
  8. One more: which power are you using with pedals? Have you tried batteries? I think you are close, as this sounds like DC somewhere.
  9. Could the magnet have affected the active circuitry?
  10. What sort of not work, completely nothing, as in you put the receiver in the amp, put the transmitter in the old one, get a sound and then put the transmitter in the new on and nothing, then swap it to a cable and they both work? That is odd, there is occasionally a problem with the transmitter with stereo plugs in active basses, but that one is just the basic mono plug (i have had some of those).
  11. I have watched a bunch of his youtube vids, but I decided to put my money on the TalkingBass course instead (just felt a bit more polished and complete to me). I think Josh gets a lot of good press around here, so certainly not a bad choice. My tip would be this (which ever course you go for): set aside a dedicated timeslot in your diary to work on the course - I'm a terrible planner so haven't done a lesson in a couple of weeks now and I feel like I'm forgetting it all already.
  12. I have someone coming to try it out today so it might not still be available. I'll update the thread if so. Differences, off the top of my head, are a carved body, inset black bridge, inset tuners, brass nut, set neck, black pickup cover. Not sure if the hardware or electrics were any different in terms of quality.
  13. It's a bit odd if it simply doesn't work 'at all'; I could understand if it were distortion, lack of output or other issues. Do both basses work OK with a regular lead? Is the plug inserting all the way into the socket? Do you have anyone local who could test your system with other basses and/or have a wireless system that you can try with your basses?
  14. I've had a re-think about the shape and I'm going to go with a more faithful recreation of the St V after all. The Explorer version looked alright in smaller sketches, but at full size it just didn't look right at all.
  15. Sister Seagull - Be Bop Deluxe
  16. Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here. Would consider part ex for a Cali 76 Bass compact

  17. Albatross — Fleetwood Mac
  18. Yeah we get that a lot around here. Very long road with bits that are 50/60/40 and most people just do the whole thing at 47ish (including the 40)
  19. Teslas and Jukes on the road: I often wish I had an RPG to blast them off the roads. Also, over the weekend I've three times been stuck behind dullards in Volvos, who probably think they are being safe drivers when they're doing 10mph below the speed limit ("no, it's 'up to' 60mph") (actually, one of them was doing 35 in the 60 road and then sped up to 37 at the next 30 sign - go figure).
  20. My Rics have white pickguards to protect them when I'm playing with a pick; I mostly don't use the controls and sometimes play them through a Trace Elliot Elf... oops! However, I do agree on the techs are not luthiers thing ("My luthier changed the pickups").
  21. Spend the amp cash on a decent acoustically oriented DI e.g. EBS Stanley Clarke and go into the PA or if needed a powered cab, you’ll have far more options and with an acoustic some of them are life savers 👍
  22. Today
  23. Jad Freer, just because he sounds like someone I’d get really annoyed by. I’m not even sure he’s a person or not but if he was I bet he’d drive either a Tesla, Juke or a VW camper van
  24. I think it's easy to be too snobby about this. The quality of budget speakers is of course variable between brands but the quality can be surprisingly good. I can remember getting a Maplin Pro Sound 12" monitor to repair and being surprised by the quality of the well braced cab and the decent magnet on the 12" driver along with a nicely made crossover. It sounded OK too, not brilliant but definitely usable. The cheapies are getting better over time too, I auditioned the Alto's before going on to buy my RCF's and back then the gap was very obvious but I've played through more up to date ones and the gap is closing. The other thing is that the speakers are only one link in the chain. The weakest link is always the operator and I'd back a decent sound engineer with budget gear against someone with cloth ears and little experience using the best gear. I suspect someone singing through an SM58 clone into RCF's might sound no better than someone using a Beta58 into Alto's and possibly worse. If you only have £50 to upgrade your sound swapping mic's rather than speakers might be the better bet. Come to that my singing into top touring gear isn't going to match Freddie Mercury singing into a tin on the end of a string! It's a matter of buying what you can afford and learning to get the best out of it. If I'm listening to a live band how they play and perform is much more interesting than their speakers even to me and a poor mix is going to ruin an evening far more than losing a few Hz from the bass response or 3db off the volume level.
  25. No, my bass is still away having them fitted. I'll post here when I've have it back...
  26. This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers
