Peavey Bass speaker buzz/distorted- possible to fix?
natasha44 replied to Bluemeanie72's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing these useful tips! I’m currently trying to fix a similar Peavey bass speaker, and I totally agree that pushing gently from behind is a safer way to avoid damaging the fragile paper cone. Has anyone had success using flexible speaker glue or any other repair method? Would really appreciate hearing your experiences or advice before. -

'Everything I Own' was written by David Gates of Bread as a tribute to his father. I have added Boy George's reggae rendition to my website. Notation and tabs as usual. Boy George - Everything I Own | Ian Maidman

Was this just your in-ears? Are you using ZS10 Pros? I find these do have some pretty striking resonances and unless your in ear fit is near perfect they can sound this way. I've ended up first of all with the tripkle flange ear tips that go deep into my ear canals and ultimately with moulded ear tips and they've improved matters. There is quite a pronounced mid range suckout too, they are far from flat, see below. I'd start by trying to get a great fit but then filtering out the sub 50Hz content and boosting 100-1.5kHz to flatten out the response, or at least being aware of the response when you eq. The other thing is that the audience experience of your bass looks to be pretty good and I find the live sound of my bass compared to my practice sound is really mid dominated and thin and clacky might be a good description. If you've got your bass well forward in your personal mix then you aren't hearing what the audience hear. Even if you aren't using ZS10's the mid suckout isn't rare in headphones I'd still be looking to check for a good fit and looking to boost low mids a little for bass.

Thomastik flats (check reviews) https://www.thomann.co.uk/thomastik_jf344.htm but super long scale 36”) they fit my 34” jazz fine though E string does wind around post but no issue .. but I’m really a roundwound steels player & thought I’d try em as they are more metallic sounding than regular flats & have normal kinda tension .. less than an hours play & strung inline 4 (jazz bass) .. £30 posted

Played Northern Guitars in Leeds on Friday with Heisenbug. Northern Guitars is a great venue in a busy area of town so plenty of passers by stopping and coming in. Crowd seemed to appreciate our all originals set. Chasing after more bookings now... Check out the crazy drum kit! VID-20250607-WA0014.mp4 VID-20250607-WA0015.mp4

G&L M2000 in Sunburst Lovely playing bass in excellent condition (see pics). This is a bit different to a standard M2000 as I purchased it last year , with one pickup, 2 pickups installed but only 1 was wired to A 3eq bass preamp from Analogue Workshop, this didnt suit the 2 pickup configuration so I have installed a new Bartolini 2 band EQ preamp It will benifit from some new matching knobs so I have priced it accordlingly Very little fret wear, trus rod working fine and new Ernie ball slinkys Weight is 3.7KG's Price will include delivery to UK addresses

As title Labella Low Tension Flats for long scale 5 string. Cut for 4+1 but there’s loads (too much) left on the G so you could definitely put them on a 5 in a row Had them on a 34” Scale 4+1 for a couple of weeks, no gigs with them, they’re very fresh. Just like stingrays, flats sound great to me when other people are playing them but as soon as I play them I don’t feel right! Cost me £64 + £5 postage from Strings Direct 😭 £30 posted!

Last one for a while, Zvex one off Concert Bass Mod Super Duper. This is a two channel boost (Super Hard On), the Jive is apparently based on the SHO. This one is voice for more low end and to try and replicate a Sunn Concert Bass. I went hunting for one after playing through a Sunn Concert Lead at a jam session. It’s a little hard to control in a video but I can set it on a board for a solid 3 sounds that then drive other pedals, primarily the Beta Mk1. Again like the Kasleder, I’d probably have this with a battery and just throw it down in front of the board when I fancy. If someone ever tells me I have backline of a big old tube amp, my rig will be just this pedal 😅 My main takeaways after all these little videos are how much I love the Punchline, Beta and Cream Pie and the amount of subtle flavours I can coax out of them.
