HeadlessBassist started following Alnus Basses - Anyone got one?

Definitely interested in these - He seems to have nailed the classic 60s Precision sound with his in-house custom wound pickups. The fact that you can hear what a particular bass sounds like also helps. Prices are very reasonable, too.

I asked warmoth to make me a body between 6-7lbs and they sent me one at 7.5lbs. I need a bass that balances at about 45 degrees, otherwise I spend the entire gig fidgeting to try to get get it to sit at that angle. Luckily I train 3 times a week so 14lbs for a 3 hour wedding isn't too much trouble

Who released Tiger Feet ? Was it sweet or Mud ??
Clarky replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
First two singles I bought were 'Tiger Feet' and Hurricane Smith's 'Oh babe what would you say'. And yes I used to do the thumbs in belt dance, while drenched in Brut 33. -

Wow, how did you manage to make a Jazz bass weigh 14lbs?! I thought my recently sold Status KingBass Mk-II was bad enough at nearly 12lbs. When playing, watch out for random sink holes appearing underneath you - you may find yourself in Australia for Christmas!

I remember blokes doing that dance at heavy rock discos in the late 1970's. It was definitely a thing. Probably much safer than headbanging, too. Not that anyone bothered about anything like that in those days, though. -

Connecting my Midi piano to Cubase on my PC
bass_dinger replied to bass_dinger's topic in Other Instruments
That's a lot of good advice, both for me, and for anyone else who wants to connect USB-midi to midi-din - thank you. Interesting to see that a USB B to A adapter is necessary, and available. That was, quite literally, the missing link I will contact you directly, regarding the your offer of the Cakewalk connector. Robert -
Yes, but in a good way. To be fair, I don't think John Entwistle was searching for the perfect tone when he was amassing his bass collection. He just liked buying stuff.

Small, articulate Bass Cab in excellent condition complete with a Roqsolid cover which is also in excellent condition and cost over £90 alone. Dual Speakon / 1/4” Jack input & link. The OR-110 is a front-ported lightweight 1 x 10” cab with a custom designed Ashdown speaker – making the perfect companion for the OriginAL Head or extension for the OR-C112 combo to achieve the maximum output from the 300-watt power section. The cabinet is constructed using premium grade far eastern ply and is wadded to retain specific frequencies. The fine-tuned reflex port allows for more air to be moved, giving the little cab a surprising volume. Rated at 150 watts at 8 ohms, the OR-110 is one of the most portable cabs on the market. Adding further convenience, there is a top mounted grab handle positioned to offset the weight of the speaker magnet for ease of transport. For those pub gigs, pairing two of the OR-110 cabs provides enough volume to keep up with most drummers without having to DI through the PA. Otherwise – one OR-110 cab alone sits very well as a personal stage monitor, when using the OriginAL Head’s on-board DI to feed the front of house PA. Ashdown have focused their product offering over the past few years, delivering some really inspiring products focused towards the needs of the modern bass player. The OR-110 is no exception to the rule, building on the success of the OriginAL Range and adding something of real value to bass players delivering everything you need from a compact rig solution. The OR-110 Specifications are as follows: H:360mm 14.1” W: 390mm 15.3” 😧 360mm 14.1” Weight: 10.7KG (23.5lbs) Power: 150w Impedance: 8Ohms .Collection from North Staffordshire preferred as l do not have a suitable box at present, but l may be able to source one in the not too distant future & if so the postage would be at cost to the buyer👍

Who released Tiger Feet ? Was it sweet or Mud ??
Mudpup replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
Rob Davis (the curly haired guitarist from Mud) wrote Can't Get You Out of My Head for Kylie, Groovejet for Spiller and Tocas Miracle for Fragma. I bet he earned more out of those than Tiger Feet..... -
I've got an RM800 evo III on its way to me, so look forward to trying it. I've never owned an Ashdown amp (I had a 6x10 cab once though). I have used them before though and have a question. Does anyone actually use the drive, compressor and sub controls or are they just gimmicks best left turned off? I seem to recall that the ABMs I've used previously were much better with the compressor and sub completely off.

Connecting my Midi piano to Cubase on my PC
bass_dinger replied to bass_dinger's topic in Other Instruments
Right now!? You are Santa Claus, and I claim my £5. No rush, indeed. I plan to order the piano after Christmas (but before the 2026 Gear Abstinence Challenge starts...). Even then, I can forego midi connectivity, until the right bit of kit comes up. I am puzzled by the Roland/Cakewalk MIDI to USB devices - that cable will only plug into the FP-30X's USB Memory slot (rather than the USB Computer output, which the guy in the Roland shop said I should use. However, he admitted that it was not his area of expertise). Also, the guy in the Roland shop didn't recommend the Roland/Cakewalk MIDI to USB device - odd. Hence, my question about connectivity, here. -
Maybe we should have a team of coordinators who could coordinate the other coordinators who are coordinating the various things they, errr, coordinate?
-
I hear you. Yes, it’s a sign of our age I guess. All the best to you matey.

Connecting my Midi piano to Cubase on my PC
Hellzero replied to bass_dinger's topic in Other Instruments
If you want to use two dedicated MIDI devices, as MIDI is an in/out protocol system, you'll need something like the CME that you mentioned with an USB B to A or C cable: https://www.thomann.co.uk/cme_h4midi_wc.htm You'll need to have 4 MIDI cables, 1 USB B to A or C cable and a power supply. Otherwise, there are simple USB to MIDI cables like this one: https://www.thomann.co.uk/cme_u2_midi_pro.htm But you'll need an USB B to A adapter as it's always been that stupid, like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/PRO-POWER-Adaptor-High-Speed-Converter/dp/B0839VHWVD I've used the Roland/Cakewalk device with great success, but it's USB powered: https://www.thomann.co.uk/roland_um_one_mkii.htm Mine is an old Cakewalk, which has become sticky over the years, and you can get it for postage fee, should you want it: -
Agreed. I think Simon Gallup has played pretty much every bass there is at various times, particularly live and he always just sounds like Simon Gallup.
