  1. Past hour
  2. Sorry to hear that. When and how?
  3. Opening for celebrity level bands is always fun. I only have two under my belt, Charlie Daniel's (RIP) and Peter Frampton. The one with Frampton probably doesn't count. We just happened to be the band that played before him on a multi band festival stage. Daryl
  4. My first bass lesson was a shout: "Where's your cable!" Now I carry at least one in every gig bag I have. And one for the g-word player who...
  5. Parking, a bathroom dedicated to the band and comped food and drink are important to me. Even if I don't eat any food it's still the right thing for the owners to do. Daryl
  6. For Sale: Burns Marquee Long Scale (34") Bass *Brand New Out Of The Box*!! This instrument is from the same old client of mine as the red MIM Jazz I sold last week. This one didn't even make it into a Gig Bag until I put it into one after taking it out of the original packing box. (Apologies for the Polystyrene dust!) The Marquee has a variety of available sounds via the three Burns "TriSonic" chromed pickups. Controls are Volume/Volume/Tone with a five-way Blade Switch, giving it a sort of 'mudbucker' sound, a Gibson EB3 sort of sound, a Precision-esque sound, a Jazz-ish sound, and a back pickup sound. There's also a 'Vintage' control via pulling the Tone Control upwards, much like a modern Rickenbacker has. The Bass is totally unmarked and as you'll see from the pictures, still has the labels hanging from the tuning pegs and the polythene cover is still on the Scatch Guard. The transparent red burst finish is very nice too. Price is £375. Trades considered, buyer to collect from DE7, or will happily meet half way, max distance 100 miles (up to 200 miles in total to you from DE7.)
  7. Yes, that's what I have. It provides a check of each plug and tells you if it's correctly wired and grounded or not. I'm no electrician (and the guys who put in the cabling also have an RCD) but I do it every venue I go to now to ensure me and my equipment will be OK. One of the singers in my band got a shock one gig and we ended it early as we had no faith in the safety of the venue. After that, I didn't want to take any risks.
  8. Thank you - I can't find a Bossa bass anywhere in the UK. I have another Bossa guitar that was Brian Monroney's (Tom Jones etc) and it's my #1 💛
  9. The opportunity to talk with other musicians and friends in a festival setting can be tough. Our old drummers band just happened to be the band that played before us at Wisconsin State Fair. We only had time to shake hands. Daryl
  10. It may jolly well be. I've bought two Chinese fretless necks of eBay thus far. They are very well built. The only issue, aside of side dots placed where they would be on a fretted one, with the first (with coated maple fingerboard) was its width at the nut (38mm). The second one was more of a hit than I expected. Although described as having a rosewood fingerboard, it's actually got an ebony one. At least, it looks and feels like ebony. Love it. As for the first one, I'd love to ship it free of charge should anyone here need one. The screw holes at the heel are drilled to fit into a Sire P7.
  11. According to Fender, rolls off highs without increasing bass/muddiness
  12. Dave, While we play regularly which keeps us from getting rusty I would love to rehearse and add a few new songs and maybe change a few intros and song endings. Daryl
  13. As I've said before how do you establish the monetary value of a piece of music? There are songs on my current band's forthcoming album that I have been working on over the last 40 years, and others that were written from start to finish in a single 3 hour practice session.
  14. Hi, For sale the above, in full working order and great condition. Not needed now, recording finished. Price includes UK Mainland Delivery.
  15. In Working, Used condition with signs of wear. It was gifted to me by my Father. It’s a lovely instrument but it is genuinely wasted on my level of playing. My Father used it on many sessions, gigs and TV work throughout his career (it’s been played on TOTP and used for the theme to Challenge Anneka and other late 80’s and 90’s TV). As a working instrument it’s got signs of use, however it is super smooth to play and sounds lovely.

  16. I'd like to try it as such too. However, the neck of my fretted Elwood L (a JJ type) has a slightly different hole alignment on the neck. At least that shows that neck and body weren't 'cookie cutter' creations.
  17. If Mozart was still alive he would agree, and it's been the same for almost any classical musician considered now geniuses, but not back then as most of them were always short on money, except a very few, like Rossini. So every penny generated by some kind of recognition is more than welcome for an artist ... when he's alive. For the record Vincent van Gogh officially only sold one painting (La Vigne Rouge) while alive...
  18. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions and advice. I’ll take a look over the weekend. @Chienmortbb I’ll drop you a DM now. Very good point from everyone regarding storage. Up until a couple of months ago. All cables were stored (squashed) into our Stanley lead (tool) box. I’ve now made a point of splitting out our vocal XLR’s in a hard case with the vocal pedals. And guitar leads are now stored in guitar gig bags. Mine are stored in my box with my B6. The newer XLR cables with vocals are coiled in a circle and Velcro wrapped, as our my bass leads. But, the other (and all up until recently) are figure of 8 and wrapped around themselves. I was taught this was the correct way of doing it when i was younger. But, recently, working with some Stage management companies, they all seemed to circlular coil theres. Thanks all. Alex
  19. There's a socket tester in that link for £5.00. Is that the kind of thing you mean, if so, I'll get one?
  20. I've got my beady eye on something, so this lovely condition 2023 Aubergine Fender American Performer Mustang is first for the chopping block. It's been with me for a few months and is set up beautifully with 40-95 Elixirs (of course!) Plays like a dream and is in excellent condition with no scratches or dings that I can see. It has only been used for one set on one gig in our live tribute show, so it's not earning its keep and therefore has to go. Comes complete with bill of sale from original owner and the original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag & case candy. I would record you a demo, but I'll let 'Nick Campbell Destroys' do the honours below - he does a lot better job than me! For sale at £825. (New price is £1400 these days!) Interesting trade options considered. Buyer to collect, or can meet half way at a distance of up to 100 miles from DE7.

  21. Certainly one of the most beautiful Vigier Passion to date. Furthermore Brian is the coolest guy around. GLWYS, Brian.

  23. Yes, I took the plunge and bought it. I tend to have a rotation on my basses as I like buying, trying and then after a while moving them on for the next flavour. Sometimes I'm impressed and keep them for longer (current longest one I have is 12 years) and sometimes it just doesnt gel for whatever reason. I'm not often badly dissapointed and its a fun learning curve. The lightweight isnt a problem and it balances well on a strap. 👍 Yeah I have noticed its still for sale. 🤷‍♂️ The Gallery tend not to update their webpages as often as they should, either for sold instruments (mainly) or new ones they have in for sale.
  24. I'm surprised and disappointed that a musician should think that way. If people are using your music, even 50 years later, to sell their products then the music should also be earning for the creators. If a scientist discovers something and patents the idea he earns from that. Music is no different.
  25. We always take plug testers to gigs after a dodgy connection. Cost £15 or so and easy to stick in the gig box. https://www.screwfix.com/c/tools/socket-testers/cat7910008
