  2. A friend of mine posted a picture of his 54 Telecaster today, as he's had it for two years. In that time he's had four fret dresses and a pickup rewind, but he does play about 350 gigs a year. That's how vintage guitars should be treated.
  3. Picton Music and John Hamm’s Music in Swansea were the places that got me started with Satelitte, Westone, Washburn, Charvel and the other hallowed 80s brands. I’ve still got my Arion tuner from Christmas 1986 that came from Picton Music. Legend has it there were bigger music shops in Cardiff, a whole 40 miles away, but we never made it that far (too young to drive and too far to cycle).
  4. Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here

  5. Korg B2 + Korg PU-2 + Gator GKB-88-SLIM + RTX 93 + RTX KBX, everything in almost new condition and, of course, fully working. Replaced by a Studiologic Numa Nero, which was itself replaced by a Studiologic SL88 GT Mk2, as I only used it on vacation or as a master keyboard. NO TRADES! PRICE NON-NEGOTIABLE! Asking price, fully insured delivery with tracking number, to your home, for the following European countries (for other countries, please contact us): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom: €375 (£325 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros; the new price of the whole set is €686)! Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. It will be delivered complete with PDF user manuals, namely: Korg B2 (with power supply and music holder), new price: 419 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/korg_b2_black.htm), Korg PU-2 (optional triple pedal), new price: 75 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/korg_pu_2.htm), Gator GKB-88-SLIM (semi-rigid carrying case), new price: 109 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/gator_gkb_88_slim.htm), RTX 93 (adjustable keyboard stand), new price: 37.50 Euros (https://www.woodbrass.com/stands-clavier-rtx-x93-stand-p20358.html), RTX KBX (adjustable bench), new price: 45.50 Euros (https://www.woodbrass.com/banquettes-clavier-rtx-kbx-p17536.html). A grand total of 686 Euros, new. I'm leaving everything, in impeccable, almost new condition (I'm a maniac for my gear), for €375 Euros, delivered to your home or picked up at my place, in which case I'll be offering a Lewitz/Revoltage HP710 (closed-back headphones), new price 23.90 Euros (https://www.muziker.be/fr/revoltage-hp710). The Korg B2 also has the advantage of being able to act as an audio return via its USB port, which is very practical for using it as a master keyboard on a PC, and having the sound coming directly from the keyboard. Link to the Korg B2 website: https://www.korg.com/fr/products/digitalpianos/b2/ Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus left and right shoulders injury, without mentioning a painful tendonitis on the right arm, I'm selling all the stuff I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! 6. A quick google seems to show this is two channel and also not available anymore? Looking on Andertons etc. there are some single channel studio compressors, but all quite expensive and I'm not sure whether they would cope in a travelling rack (as opposed to being mounted and left alone in a studio). I think the sort of thing I am after is a Keeley Compressor pro, or maybe Empress bass compressor, but in a rack rather than a pedal.
  7. Ach, no matter, probably blast a couple more coats on that, then flatten back, then polish. Should be fine. Was just annoyed because it had been going on smooth and great until then.
  8. @ClusterOne Thanks for the info. Same buzz with cable but no bass. Briefly this morning when I had some time I connected both the 500 iii and the 300 iv and left an instrument cable unconnected to a bass. Both make the same noise/sound, with the 300 being a little louder. Touching the tip, same sound. And, kind of "shorting" the cable trick by touching the sleeve and then the tip, both make noise when this is done (louder hum). I had input/output low as it was early. At lunch will try again, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's not something in the house since neither one was quite when I "short" out the cable. (Said the person who knows nearly nothing!) Wed night I will try another location entirely and see what happens.
  9. I didn't actually say anything about my actual core tone. I just find that I can get a decent pick or finger tone without having to massively change the EQ I am using at a given time. My main amp is a Mesa Walkabout, about 50% of the tone shaping on the amp is based from where the gain control is set. It isn't a very 'flat' amp with settings all at 12 o'clock to start with, but it sounds really nice fingerstyle or pick, so I tend to EQ more for the room/stage rather than making big tonal shaping moves on the amp.
  10. I just bought an A4 sheet on eBay, lots of sources: sheets of different sizes, rolls...
  11. Quick one for you experts. I'm tempted by a Barefaced Big Twin 2 Gen 3 that has come up, reasonably nearby to me. I already have a BB3, and the Big Twin would take up a lot of space in my car alongside an upright bass. Possibly I couldn't get both in. But in the heat of battle the BB3 alone feels like it's at it's limits. I have already blown a crossover once. In my position would you resist the Big Twin and look out for another BB3 to stack? Am I going to get the same meat from 2 BB3s as I would from a Big Twin, do you reckon? It's just easier to transport 2 smaller cabs, and I can leave one at home for smaller gigs. Cheers Patrick
  12. I totally agree with you @Stub Mandrel.
  13. My late father would have had the exact answer in no time as he explained me why, once (he wasn't pedagogical at all, so only once), why the orange peel effect appears, so as all, but the environment has been excluded, it was certainly too cold that night compared to the other times.
  14. @dagrev btw that sound sample you posted sounds to me like 50HZ from mains… If you plug the cable in but do not plug guitar, what does it do? Does the buzz go away? Because it may be that the pickups are picking up some noise from poorly filtered dc adapter or something. Funny enough, yesterday i got myself some cheap cab and had to place it somewhere so as a result my bass is now picking up (pickups more precisely) some electromagnetic interference from the Warwick gnome i have sat on the top of it because it is practically right in front of me about a meter & half from pickups. Not as noisy as in your sample but i also noticed when i moved around with the bass the noise disappeared or faded away. I mean I should have known better but it didn’t click 🤦‍♂️😁 So that’s normal, in sense you can use the bass to track where the interference is coming from by following the signal.. By any chance do you have any power adapters (dc power supplies) plug in while using the amp? The other day i had cheapo dc supply that feeds my pedals transmitting an interference much worse than the one in your example. And I accidentally found out when unplugged it from mains..
  15. Starting to get its shine and chatoyance on now.

  17. Only because I'm (hopefully!) going to be looking for one in a few months, G&L L-2500 Tributes that aren't in Japan (or which pretend to be in Japan but don't actually exist).
  18. Rocket Man - Elton John
  19. Here's your chance to grab one of these sought after compressors at a great price. It's been sitting unused in my stash. Price includes delivery within the UK. Go on, treat yourself !!
  20. Our last gig I had to wear headphones to hear myself at all on the phone recordings, even when it was a bass solo.
  21. Oof. Lucky for me, it hasn't got the headstock with the volute... GLWTS!
  22. Right someone needs to buy this I think 😁 £135 shipped - I’m taking an almost 50% loss from what I paid to import it, and this is a monster of a preamp if you’re an SVT head, this is an absolute steal! This video 👇 is a guy on TalkBass who gives it a good run thru and shows what it an do at fairly low gain (mostly 9-11 o’clock or less), into a cab, and running other drives into it, specifically how this preamp run fairly clean can make some pretty cheap drives sound good run into it. Anyway make your own mind up, I thought it sounded good
  23. Yep, been there, and am playing in the venue where that happens to us annually a week on Saturday - yay! Last time I played there I brained a dancer twice with the headstock of the bass before she learned not to dance so close to us despite the postage stamp-sized area for people to do so.
  24. You might want to confirim re the Fender fit Walshy, just in case your's has been customised? Lovely looking neck, and these do not come around very often, almost tempted to start a new bitsa
  25. Looks like a 4-bolt MM neck but won't slot straight into a standard Fender body
