  1. Past hour
  2. A related thing is how isolated bass with loads of distortion can sound really loud and evil on its own but disappears or at least sounds much mellower in a band context.
  3. I know a pub with a hard stone floor, roughly 3m ceiling height and a length of wall in front of the band space also 3m from the wall behind. f=speed of sound/wavelength f=330/3 = 110. Oh yes, that room is perfectly tuned to a bass's A string's first harmonic and boy does it resonate...
  4. If you have a damaged collarbone it doesn't matter what strap you use. Maybe you could put the strap over your right shoulder, or better still, grab a bar stool and sit, until your bones are properly mended.
  5. I think the clue is in the title, Speaker Placement Basics. He doesn't go into a lot of things but has stuck to the sort of set up most beginners will be working with if anything I doubt many bands have this much equipment to play with. Wall placement isn't a panacea and wall reinforcement is unnecessary if your subs are adequate. Placing them to one side means you can't match the level of the sub to both of the tops. Subs may be omnidirectional but the sound level still falls with distance so the bass will potentially be too loud on the side nearest the tops and not loud enough on the side further away. In any case most people viewing this for the first time probably won't have access to subs or centre fills. Steve's question is about directional speakers and where to point them and the heat maps are a really useful way of looking at this.

  7. That grippiness makes them an outstanding solution for neck dive. They also make the heaviest bass light on your shoulders. I have one on both my heaviest fivers.
  8. @Terry M. Seeing this as a production model would be lovely 😄 and as previously mentioned a run of BB3000 models. Possibly a few more finishes on the current BB line. Would it improve sales? No idea but I guess that's a gamble all Manufacturers take?
  9. Blend in a ring nodulator and have the guitarists kneel before your filth proclaiming their lack of worth.
  10. I was about to suggest this. Bicarb is slightly alkaline and breaks down the oils and greases that make most of the smells.
  11. Have you looked through this thread yet? There's a lot of brochures showing the badges used over time.
  12. Leaving On A Jet Plane - John Denver
  13. To Live is to Fly - Townes van Zandt
  14. I think some were jyst held on by hot melt. @Rosie C I can 3d print one for you if you dont mind painting it yourself. This is my design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6675528
  15. What do you feel their current line-up could benefit from that would translate to improved sales?
  16. And then there was one?
  17. Fly Like An Eagle - Steve Miller Band
  18. This is a wonderful bass and a steal at the price Peter has reduced it to. The one slight correction to make to Peter's advert is that the 6-way varitone switch is actually an original Aria SB-1000 one that Mike came across in his parts box during the build. The neck is a work of art in its own right! I can also attest - as many have before me - that Peter is an absolutely top bloke to do business with. If I had the funds spare I'd have this back in a flash, but sadly retirement has reduced cashflow significantly these days.
  19. It's partly curiosity but also something to possibly record my acoustic guitar.
  20. The badge on my 2x10" is riveted on but there are no holes on the 15". But then in that ebay listing the badge looks stuck on. Hmm... An unexpected bonus is the valve pre-amp. I wasn't expecting that and haven't had any kind of valve amp before 😊
  21. If you use thumb plucking down and index finger plucking up alternately to do the octave pairs it's not too hard to keep up.
  22. Yes an Ibanez 5 string (SBX) it had a fingerboard so wide that you’d need a native guide to get from G to low B and it sounded completely soulless I have large hands but only medium stretch and it was far too uncomfortable to play
  23. I have two longer than that that have been up for years. And my walls are made of that grey compressed powder they used after the war because presumably they had thrown all the bricks at the enemy.
  24. I've gigged with 2 One10's in a loud top 40's cover band using a 5 string bass and these cabs handled the gig perfectly. I also successfully gigged a Two10 and One10 in a loud blues rock band. I see no reason why the 310 wouldn't come through with flying colours.
