  2. My guess is they have to protect against tyre kickers. You get a lot of those in shops. I prefer Mono M80 Vertigo bags. IMO it's a gig bag. Do your homework, find a good one, that fits, and just buy it.
  3. I think the way Vox have crashed the used market for the s-s Artist is clumsy to say the least. Owners who bought at full RRP (over £1300) or even after the first price drop (to £799) as I did are quite obviously pi55ed off that the second-hand value is now determined by the final 'refurbished as new' price of £399!! Seems to me that Vox have effectively managed to lose a significant number of repeat customers by turning what was initially a happy group of owners into a group with a grievance. I also think the change-over to standard scale length is a mistake for a brand that was traditionally associated with s-s basses. If they had got their marketing right they could have secured a big share of the now significant s-s bass market. Instead they have done what Gibson managed to do - squander the value of a 'heritage' brand name by messing with its DNA.
  4. In glad you’ve mentioned this, I often hear hear how there’s not much difference between a squier and US made bass, in my experience there is a big difference, I bought my nephew an affinity jazz and it felt and sounded nothing like my CS and AVRI jazzes, it was an older one and I’m sure they’ve improved since, I can’t say if the price difference is worth it because that’s up to the individual , they both do the same job but I think it’s what makes you happy and feel good playing
  5. PM’d with asking price 👍
  6. Thanks for this. It makes perfect sense this way. As sad as it sounds, as well as playing it, I’ll study these to see what he’s doing against a chord to try and understand it. I’ll just print it and write the chords at the top in pencil and we’re good. Appreciate it’s an improvised line!

  8. Back from 2 days 'business' in Cologne to find the Conklin patient waiting for me upon my return! I forgot just how well made these things are... unbelievably thin neck profile, no real visible or 'feelable' difference in build quality to that of my USA Conklin (hardware, pickups, preamp, woods etc aside...)
  9. This is subjective. On paper yes the Fender is supposed to be superior but...
  10. I've had these a while, using them in various amps with valve preamp stages, but my move away from such amps means they are now surplus: Mullard ECC83 - code B6B3 means made in Blackburn, third week of February in either 1956, 1966 or 1976 = £50 Mullard ECC83 - (code backward3)91 means made in Chelmsford for Mullard by Marconi, but not sure how to date the rest = £50 Mullard ECC81 - no code that I can see = £25 Caveat Emptor: I have tested them in my Demeter amp and they are all working fine at time of writing, but as always with old valves be aware they can fail at any time. Please do bear that in mind before you buy.

  11. "Always on" version of the famous Boss tuner pedal. Takes up less space on your pedalboard. Pretty much mint condition. Price includes postage. Stock image below for now.
  12. Here we have a used but not abused Rockboard Tres 3.0 pedalboard setup that, with the addition of the power supply and patchbay, means you are set up and ready to go. No need for mains power to the board, you just charge the power supply before the gig and you can enjoy hum-free pedals all night! I've never had any issues with this setup. The battery can do a two set gig with no issue. Currently, I have left the USB cable connecting the power supply to the patchbay, so you can plug an external USB into it and charge without having to remove it. Lots of other wiring options are possible though. The carry bag is fully functional and in good overall condition, athough it has some light scuffing on the outside as you'd expect. New, all of this would have been £200, so I think £125 posted is fair. Thanks for looking EDIT: Forgot to add proof of ownership to the pictures, but hopefully pages and pages of feedback (see link in signature) will confirm I am a legit seller!

  13. I picked this up from @Basilpea not that long ago. It's a great cab, but it isn't a cosmetic match to my other AT210, so being the fickle person I am I want to replace this... It's got some small dents from being gigged, but overall in good condition and absurdly light. You can pick it up with two fingers! It's also very loud. W52 x D33,5 x H57 cm 600 watts at 4 ohms 103dB SPL Also comes with GR Bass soft padded cover. GR say: The lightest 2×10 bass cabinet in the world. Thanks to its size, lightness, and power, the AT 210 is one of the most versatile cabinets in the entire catalog. Suitable for both small and large live shows, it allows you to always have your sound with you. With the AeroTech line, you can have the incredible innovation of our Carbon Fibre cabinets combined with the Pure Sound of GR, which is the pure sound of your instrument. Incredible sound, lightweight, power, impact resistance, and a beautiful modern design. I'm afraid this is collection only, as I don't have anything suitable to ship it in. No trades either thanks. I'm using @Basilpea's pictures, which I hope he's okay with.

  14. This amp is now £400 on Amazon. Incredible. I will drop the price for the amp, adapter, pedalboard and case to £500, which is still a good deal I think, but I really cannot go any lower. If it doesn't sell at this price I will just keep it as a spare.
  15. This will shortly be going up as a commission sale, so if you are interested please do get in touch with me soon.

  17. I bought this beautiful bass last year for a project that has managed just two gigs in 18 months. I recently joined a new band and now need a different coloured bass. Before I bought it, I tried out the Squier and US versions, and this one has by far the smoothest, most playable, modern-feeling neck. It weighs 3.8kg / 8.4lb. It’s a joy to play, and the pickup is thunderous. I’ve swapped in the Retrovibe 4-brass-saddle dual-entry bridge for easier intonation (the original will be included). There’s a small dink by the bridge (pictured). Otherwise, there are no marks. It’s got new GR Balanced Nickel strings, and comes with a Fender gigbag. However. While it’s perfectly playable with a low action, the truss rod won’t tighten any further. The action at 12 fret is 3mm, so it’s fine with lower tension strings, but would struggle with thicker gauges. That’s why I’m selling so cheap.

  20. I like the individual sounds of my Fenders, if I'm honest. They all have their own individual sound characters. All instrument makers have had to deal with increased costs in parts and labour in recent years, and Americans (and Mexicans) want financial security, houses, cars and pensions (same as us here in the UK!), so everything gets more expensive. Food, cars, houses, etc have all doubled in price in recent years. Unfortunately, musicians' earnings seem to be ignored when it comes to said increases, so instruments seem to get ridiculously pricey to us. I recently bought and set up a Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz for a pupil. Yes, it's a great sounding & playing bass, but a good American Fender bass still sounds and feels superior. But yes, that difference is definitely getting smaller while the price differential gets ever larger.
  21. It's a blues in F. F7, Bb7 F7 / Bb7 / F7 D7 Gm7 C7 F7 / I don't normally do chords as the purpose of the transcriptions is to promote reading not learning theory. There are people/websites out there that do all that better than I can. I'm just dumb enough to sit there for hours transcribing details that no-one else can be bothered to look for.

  24. For the lucky ones that nabbed this pedal early, can you comment on the tracking outside of standard tuning? What's the 5 string mode like compared to the 'normal' mode?
  25. While you might not be being unreasonable I am sure they get thousands of requests of this nature and never hear from the person again.... Like when any of us tries to sell something online. I had a bass up for sale "can you record it playing through a distortion pedal please?" Errrrr why? Or the thousands of back and forth messages with people who then disappear when you try to confirm they will buy and pay.
