  1. Past hour
  2. A traditional Irish bar... in Scotland... please tell me you were playing all Welsh band's material!
  3. I've always looked to John 'Rhino' Edwards from Quo for excellent examples of how to build a bass line and vary your fills, all while keeping the fills very musical, so I'd go for "Ain't Complaining" by Status Quo and also maybe his latest solo album, "Just Sayin' ". I also find myself listening to simpler stuff these days - The Blues Alive album by Gary Moore has some great playing from Andy Pyle, who previously played for Blodwyn Pig, Alvin Lee, The Kinks, and Wishbone Ash.
  4. Tier 2 fail for me. I am now the owner of an EMU Classic Keys Module, formerly owned by @ash. I can use the midi capability on my Kurzweil SP76 to drive it. Sadly, I don't yet have much piano playing capability to play it well, but so far I am enjoying the extra sounds.
  5. Can I take the flats cut for pbass please?
  6. Oops ! You’re correct, they are 4 in line… I will amend the post ☺️
  7. Driving down from South Yorkshire to Burgess Hill (near Brighton) probably Monday or Wednesday can meet along the way with no extra charges
  8. Hi @Bleezar, I'll DM you. Both the TK-421-X and Volt Thrower are really excellent bass-tailored takes on the RAT but given I have a Volt Thrower for sale I don't think it's fair to give a run down of each on this sale thread.
  9. I see the slight pink
  10. That’s nit a bad callTajuzero
  11. Today
  12. 58 Jeff Berlin transcriptions up there now. I once learned Dixie but didn't write it down, sadly. I struggle with the chordal stuff, both hearing it and in writing it down. I love that Beethoven improvisation he does on line but am more than a little intimidated by it.
  13. I like this post. You've reached out for clarification, made your feelings known, asked the questions you needed to ask, clearly and consciesly. The ball, as they say, is now with them. I hope you get a satisfactory outcome from this - even if that means you have to move on without answers, at least you've done your part with the above. Mark
  14. Just move on. If the singer attended the audition for the new bassist, she was in on it, too. This was going to happen sooner or later and was not purely a musical decision, it would seem. They've done you a favour in not wasting any more of your time. Cut your losses and put it (and them) behind you. Your life is richer with these people out of it.
  15. Dave, Try and find the Return To Forever version with Stanly Clarke. Daryl
  16. Best overdrive/distortion i’ve come across. Does everything from clean boost/eq to all out fuzz, and does it well 👍
  17. I haven't yet been removed from the band's WhatsApp group. I've just posted this on it: "[Drummer] has informed me that I'm no longer in the band. I'm gobsmacked, and I'd like to fully understand what's happened. [Drummer] and I set up the band with a particular vibe/sound in mind - soul/funk/groove-driven tasteful songs, not rock. Songs were chosen, band name chosen and [singer] recruited on this premise. [Drummer] tells me the band has now decided to go down a different musical path. How come? Is everybody on board with this? What is this new musical direction that the band has adopted that [drummer] tells me I won't like? Who decided that I wouldn't like it? Was this a unanimous decision? Why wasn't I asked? [Drummer] tells me that a new bassist has been recruited behind my back, while I was on holiday. Is this true? Again - was this a unanimous decision? I'm struggling to believe that everybody agreed this was a proper way to behave. I'm not here to argue - rather, I'm trying to get a full understanding of what's happened, and why a group of people seems to have decided to act in such a discourteous and underhand manner. Anybody can ring me to explain further, although probably no need for [drummer] to ring since he's already spoken to me."
  18. Shame that this is still here…. Took it out on a gig on Sat and it was as expected…..special!👌🏽 Waiting on a luck owner🤞🏽
  19. They didn’t take much learning, but the two new ones in the set for one of the bands I’m in are Red Light Spells Danger and You Should Be Dancing. Sounds pretty boring, but the band are a ten piece with brass and percussion and they both sound flippin’ ace. Gigging them tomorrow.
  20. Hang on, the band at the outset was you and the drummer? I would be having a significantly memorable conversation with the twit.
  21. This. The only thing harder to replace than guitarists and drummers is a proper singer.
  22. Yesterday
  23. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
