Thanks for posting this. Long time fan of Living Colour and Doug Wimbish. I know Vernon Reid's playing style divide opinions in guitar circles, but I have long admired his very dark sound and unique approach. Love Muzz Skillings' playing on the first couple albums too. Very peased but not surprised that they still sound so good. Unique band in the rock space.

Hmm interesting mine on its way back to G4M. Sounded ok at home but fired up in a rehearsal studio not so good. The studio has a pair of SRM 450s with matching subs. Used the auto gain all good so far. But everything (guitars Vox ) sounded thin and brittle I found myself adding loads of low and low mid and tailing of the top end. Bluetooth dropped out twice in two hours. Plugiong back into the bettered studio Mackie Pro FX set flat give a marked jump in sound quality. My verdict Is it’s very cheap to my ears it sounds it S

No, I've not played a full fat US Bill Dickens, but I do own this US full fat Custom Shop 8 string Conklin, which I imagine wouldn't be too dissimilar! And probably weighs similar!

Excellent condition (pedal almost ‘as new’, box is a little more beaten) MXR Studio Comp. This is famously EXACTLY the same circuit as the MXR Bass Comp, but with a different enclosure. MXR did this to sell it more effectively to the guitar market. To be fair, I think it looks smarter than the Bass Comp. This is MXR’s take on an 1176 comp I believe. Not much else to say, solid pedal, nice transparent sound, effective compression. Cool. £120 inc UK postage. No trades unless you have a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white (+money your way of course 😅). Cheers Si

Have you ever played the USA Bill Dickens model, Russ? I did at the Frankfurt Musik Messe, when they were released, under the surveillance of the master himself, who has huge hands that said. It sounded really really really well, but even back then I found it very heavy, the bass, not Bill, though... 🤪😉🤔

I would say that The Electric Bass Guitar is a Whatever-You-Want-it-to-Be Instrument! Original purpose is irrelevant; after all, Viagra wasn't invented as "support instrument" either...

Band Mule: A calendar app for bands Anyone using it?
Phil Starr replied to Phil Starr's topic in General Discussion
That's interesting, how long ago was that? I got the strong impression from the information I gleaned that it is still pretty much a beta version/under development. I wouldn't want to use something that crashes too often because the band won't use something they don't have faith in. -

Band Mule: A calendar app for bands Anyone using it?
Phil Starr replied to Phil Starr's topic in General Discussion
I do hate google with a vengeance, I hate that it invades everything you do after any engagement with it at all and i don't consent to it using and sharing my data. I've used Timetree and it is such a poor piece of software. Really clunky and counter intuitive to use. I mean it works but finding out how to do anything complicated on it is a nightmare. Ive also used Doodle to gather in availabllity data and liked the simplicity, it's got a lot more sophisticated recently and moved to a paid model but I've recently discovered Rallly which does look and behave just like the older versions of Doodle. You send out a survey with a list of dates/times and people fill in their availability. It's great for booking rehearsals and identifying dates the band are available for gigs. The bit it doesn't do is generate an actual calendar the band can see. -
I'll probably go with BEADGCF tuning. I have a USA Custom Shop 8 string Conklin, an ACG 9 string and a Bee Bass 10 string (Binky), so I'm used to these oversized beasts! Scale length I believe is 35", spacing I think is 17mm.
