  2. Hi Folks, Very sad to let this one go! Fabulous resto by CARLSIM on this Bass well documented here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/479078-xotic-xjpro-5-string-sold/#comment-4973009 Additionally there is a blog and Carl has kindly offered to answer any questions if required? So I bought this in from Carl in June 2023 and it has never left the house whereby apart from a fettle and my setup, a set of USA Dunlop Nickle wound brights 45/130, new batteries and several polishes it is exactly as before! Plenty of info and reviews out there and I can 100% confirm how good this bass is! Does all the Jazzy things you would imagine plus has some very unique tones of it's own due to those incredible pick ups, very playable neck and balances well. Cash is king, not really interested in trades, however a nice J/MM 5'ver with 18-19mm spacing plus cash might tempt me? Meet within a reasonable distance preferred or I can courier strictly at the buyers risk and expense albeit my packaging is legendary lol! Gaucho 5 IMG_0026.MOV

  4. I've had a couple of basses off Tony in the past. They're above market value but both in great nick. I had the SX version of this bass which was okay but not my thing. I believe the bass collection version are well regarded by some but not me I'm afraid. Just out of interest Terry what would you buy for yourself if you wanted a 5 string with 18mm spacing and a budget of £500 give or take ?🤔
  5. That's very, very nice JJ! Congrats
  6. Drop to £2000 before withdrawing.
  7. Thanks mate, you never know, dreams may come true!
  8. Ah, I think we were referring to the grooves the height screws sit in to reduce lateral play, hence the confusion. Very nice bit of metalwork that either way 👍
  9. If you can get a roundwound string through the hole, you could use that to enlarge the hole.
  10. Thank you Lozz196, I'm pleased with it, and that's all that counts.... 😎
  11. should get locked automatically as far as I know? SOLD
  12. This has not been used very much and never been out of the house. I'm not a guitarist, but it's got some really nice sounding presets and effects built in and is quite loud. It'd make a perfect practice/home amp. It has the instruction manual, USB cable and original box. 14. To be fair, that 8x10 was easier, in my humble opinion, to cart around than a lot of the older-school 4x10 (I.e not a Barefaced, GR Bass, Markbass etc. 4x10). I had an Ashdown ABM 4x10 prior to the Bassman 8x10 and slipped a disk in my 26-year-old back carting it up 5 sets of stairs in Birmingham’s O2. They’re heavy and awkward, with low handles and bad ergonomics. The 8x10 was easier to control with its tilt back wheels, could be carried or slid up/down stairs and stages with the skid rails on the back, and also had handles on the bottom so a mate could help with any stairs action. It does take up more room in the van/garage/storage, though. The SVT was a pig to get on top of the 8x10 though, and weighed a solid 20kg more than the cab when it was in its flight case! Luckily it had wheels…
  15. IIRC you then see a fight breaking out between old and new band through the control room window in the background.
  16. Shuker 3 is currently wearing the pink ones...
  17. No worries. Mine works fine with my Android phone, but I was just checking out other options. David
  18. Profile is quite shallow nut width just over 41mm
  19. Well, as you say, there is the nickel allergy. For me though, it's how they respond to distortion. I'm someone who looks for maximum clarity. The preservation of all the overtones and harmonics which you can get whilst playing. Optima's really respond to this and my own style, so that's why I like them. One could also argue that they are surprisingly downtunable and still maintain pitch as well as lasting longer than a lot of other strings. Obviously, if you want to play with a fretwrap, this isn't for you. I don't use them exclusively, but I have tried them on different basses so I know what difference strings can make even within the narrow category of just nickel roundwounds. As ever, it's if you think it's worth it to get more expensive strings or go cheaper or just cheap. It's all about what's important to you. For example, I don't care if Rotosound steels are cheaper, they're still rubbish and die within 4 hours of playing, so I don't buy them.
  20. That is lovely. I would have to send away the pickguard and have a brushed anodised gold one made from the template for that 1959 vibe 🤩
  21. I promise this isn't a "tone is in the fingers" comment, because it isn’t, but in Lemmy's case most of his sound comes from the bass and the way he plays it. His actual amp sound, and distortion, changed a lot over the years - you've got the classic early neck pickup tone to his later oft-quoted bridge pickup "bass off, mids full, treble off" which to me sounds like chewing tin foil. People also forget that those EQ settings will only work on a Marshall Superbass, so the bass and treble are effectively flat rather than fully cut. The Okko seems like a decent pedal but the distortion was only one part of Lemmy's sound.
  22. ....and sold....and I have no idea how to remove the listing : /
  23. I love that they’ve got a strong family visual identity. I like the look of the OBM500, but damn, look at the cab covering and cloth combo on the SBM112! Want…

Saw this is the classifieds and thought it’d be an exceptional buy for someone. Congrats!
  25. Sandberg VS4 California Passive Lightly Aged Finish German made Sandberg VS4 Passive version. Really fantastic passive Precision type bass with subtle lightly aged Fiesta Red finish and aged hardware. It’s very light at 3.6kgs and has a lovely dark rosewood board and slim maple neck. Amazing German build quality and sounds like a good Precision ought to. I have two of these but I prefer maple boards on P type basses and since I recently bought another Ric I’m afraid this has to go. It comes with Allen key, manufacture info leaflet, Sandberg gigbag and original box. Frets are in superb shape and trussrod works as it ought to. The only marks to my knowledge are the factory finish ones. Beautiful bass for the money. Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost UK only no trades sorry.
