  2. Unspeakable Elvis - Geezer Butler
  3. ...and if you have 7.30 to spare, watch the video but stay focussed wherever possible on Moon, 100% in the moment, 100% in the music, and 100% in the zone. Sublime
  4. You only need half of those If you got rid of everything fret wise above the octave and every part of a fret on the two treble strings, you could make it a hybrid fretted/fretless and do all the pointless noodling on the bits real bass players don’t use 👍 #joking
  5. Like a lot of upright bass players I have a David Gage Realist pickup on my bass and play the majority of my upright gigs through a Markbass head and 210 cab. I’m not familiar with the J-tone pickup but I’ve rarely had feedback issues with the Realist. I also regularly play the same bass through a big Ashdown rig with a 6x10 cab with no problems, plus it’s been through a bunch of festival hire rigs (usually Ampeg SVTs and big 8x10/4x10 cabs), again no problem. It always helps to have a bit of distance between the cab and the bass to avoid feedback issues, more so as the volume levels go up. The only times I’ve had an issue have been when I’m right on top of the amp as you mentioned, or when playing a hire bass with a crappy pickup.
  6. Based only on an acoustic bass and amping, I’d go to the PA every time
  7. Ignore this comment please utter stupidity on my part
  8. At 4.46 in if you look at the version with subtitles they're all singing 'Gerald'. They're not, they're actually singing 'cello', because during tracking PT apparently asked for cellos to play those stacatto notes but was told the record company wouldn't foot the bill. So the band - bless them - sang the word 'cello' instead
  9. I spoke to him a few times - he was super-helpful
  10. Originally sold to @bigthumb but it was returned due to a neck issue. The neck was left off the bass for 3 years, and now seems there is a slight bow in it. The action is set very low, and if adjusted it may improve, but currently the strings buzz on frets 8-11. i just dont have time to get it sorted. So taken £200 off the price for someone to get a good deal. @bigthumb will be able to tell you the quality of the refinished and fret work.its really excellent. Originally a burgundy colour that was then sprayed orange, so i had the bass professionally stripped and refinished in clear satin. beautiful ash body. The original neck has been completely refinished, fret board cleaned and refretted, the headstock has a new coat of clear coat. The rear of the neck has been left as natural wood as i don't like sticky necks, the neck is now unbelievably fast playing. 2 scratchplates are included but no screws. Electronics were tested and cleaned. All original hardware. I have a gig bag and cardboard box, so it can be posted, I think fully insured would be about £30.
  11. Sat in the pub tonight discussing this very track. OK, JE was one of the great bass players, and Daltrey a decent front man, but Moon and Townsend are just incredible in this, in fact it's Townsend's guitar that holds it together at times. f***ing glorious 🙏
  12. Tuners now sold Neck and pickups still available p&p £5 to uk mainland .
  13. The Beta V 2 band eq reminds me of the old Stingray I asked Greg SGFX about the Beta V and the new Diamond EQ Boost Drive , now deciding what to do
  14. They weight virtually nothing. I’ve done a bunch of gigs on a Kala U Bass over the years and you barely notice you’re wearing it. It’s worth adding a strap button at the base of the neck if it doesn’t have one (neither of mine did) so you don’t have to hold it like a regular ukulele. Sound wise you’ll be fine for most styles I reckon. They’re surprisingly versatile.
  15. Oops ! You’re correct, they are 4 in line… I will amend the post ☺️
  16. Hi @Bleezar, I'll DM you. Both the TK-421-X and Volt Thrower are really excellent bass-tailored takes on the RAT but given I have a Volt Thrower for sale I don't think it's fair to give a run down of each on this sale thread.
  17. Calling elvis - dire straits
  18. That's awesome news! Made up to get that update.
  19. Todays Still messy as it took me several days to remove the gunk from the old velcro, so I’m now afraid to recommit.

  24. theres a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis - Kirsty McColl
  25. In the 70’s everyone was putting DiMarzios , Badass bridges and brass nuts on their Pbasses. Today just about all of those are now back to stock. You never know …

    East Pre Amps

Well crap, not looking good then! I hope all is ok on their end. Hopefully someone somewhere hears something soon!
  27. Hey peeps. Moving on my Melvin Lee Davis preamp,DI &ir loader with data cable to install software as well as power cable. I bought this to use as a silent practice setup. Never left the house, or gigged. It’s like new tbh. I’m including the data cable you need to install the software. Great sounding preamp. It has a low and high pass filter which is accessible on the software and sets once you disconnect. Software has drum beats and a loop! You can also use this as an audio interface. Extremely capable tool. I’m moving to the mighty plug pro2. Asking for £100+shipping. I think this is fair considering the cable and power lead. Happy for collection if you are in London. happy to answer any questions.
