  1. Past hour
  2. Indeed. I used to have a late 1980s Yamaha that had a similar recessed panel thing.
  3. Hallo, upright people. I have never even picked up a double bass, much less played one, so please forgive that this question is coming from a place of complete ignorance... I've been listening to Miles Davis' Birth of the Cool this morning, which features Al McKibbon on several of the tracks. As I do, I've also been idly flicking through the wikipedia bios of the musicians on the record, and came across this picture of Al on his (though very little additional info, even though he lived to 86). Anyway, to the point of this post - what is all that ironmongery on his headstock? And would anyone have a clearer picture of something similar? Just curious! Thanks in anticipation.
  4. I don’t do Facebook,so I have no idea who catman is 😮‍💨
  5. Fair enough. I know little enough about either company, but my initial thought when I saw the two-tone Headstock with the big "A" was Alpher - for all I know Alpher is based on their design!
  6. Thinking about it - my Lionel Superlight is actually a little heavier now - I had a J pickup put in it as well. Not that I noticed the change!
  7. There has been some talk in my band of potentially investing in an IEM setup with an XR18. What's the best way of combining the two XLR outputs to one TRS jack cable?
  8. On both five and four string basses I tend to play all root notes on the E and A strings. I find the other strings (D, G and then the low B on the fiver) work better for accent stuff - either popping the higher octaves or playing something widdly up high, or with the low B really using it as an accent when trying to build the dynamics - kind of like a bass drop! So personally I stick to standard tuning, although do agree my E and A strings get the most use.
  9. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1399057075205363 There's a whole series of similar vids, at least it's one good application of AI. The construction-cats really make me laugh. After sitting on the throne it occures to me not everyone wants to access Facebook. I don't know how to add just the vid clip with no reference to Facebook, best I can do is just a screen shot, now imagine him slapping like Mark King
  10. That's an unbeatable price, if I hadn't just bought a l2500 I'd be all over this.
  11. Thanks Woody - the TRS to TRS is simply a 1/4" to 3.5mm TRS adaptor - please see the pic in my last but one post (bottom of previous thread page). Seems to make no difference using that vs using a TS a TRS adaptor - but that may just be us not being overly impacted by the phase issue? I think what you're saying is best practice would be to use the TS to TRS adaptor (the silver one in the same pic)? And what this discussion has also made me realise is that if we want to transition to getting stereo for our IEMs e.g. with the Swiff WX520 - the A&H CQ-18T has two stereo headphone outs that could be assigned to providing this for two members of the band. We then have a further 6 balanced mono outs which some of which can be paired to provide additional stereo IEM feeds for those that want it (obviously not an option for the Xvive U4 users). That's definitely an additional worthwhile take-away from this chat!
  12. That is eminently sensible... I went with plain transparent as I don't want to draw attention to them, which I may regret.
  13. Was procrastinating and wondering about the difference between dBu and dBV was this morning. The following article is really interesting and especially the table at the end that touches on an issue that comes up time and again in amp threads. https://www.soundonsound.com/sound-advice/decibels-explained
  14. No idea where they’d gone. They are there now
  15. Keep ruddy Zuckerberg out of it!
  16. On fretted I tend to use the G a lot when I'm playing flats where I find the tone quite full, less so with rounds. On FL I use the G a lot
  17. Have had a flick through the classifieds and it looks like the P35 that @M@23 was selling a while back was on the lighter side
  18. Hi all! A few days ago my band released a new single, I'd love to share it with you It's available on all platforms, here's a link: All feedback is welcome!!
  19. It would be exactly the same as the sound coming entirely from one side, ie 90° to you, but somehow being as loud on the back side What is a TRS to TRS adapter? Why would you need to adapt that? if you plug a mono lead in, it would be fine, its only with a stereo lead. Thats one advantage of a balanced output, it would give you a fine mono output if you use a TS jack.
  20. Are you sure Mr C, I mean I know how phenomenal it sounds through a Barefaced SuperTwin
  21. Earwax colour? Never need to clean them if you can't see the wax... OK, that was gross, sorry. Hearing aid beige would be quite ironic and meta... OK, I'm done.
  22. ^^^^This, therefore, go white, silver or yellow.
