Am I the only one who wondered what was going on with John Fogerty? It was like watching someone with hearing difficulties / a severe speech impediment - & often out of tune especially in the early part of his set. Really disappointing. His band were great though.

Energetic? That's one way of putting it. I think the clue is in the name of the band! 😄

Is it my telly or did John Fogerty sound really empty? Most of the band had mikes but there was no backing vocals at all. In fact John kept turning away from his mike so often, it sounded like an instrumental karaoke show. 😐

Thought Amyl and the sniffers were quite energetic. Never heard of them before but quite enjoyed them.

Watching NY, I am just so pleased that Spooner Oldham ( at 82) is still alive and kicking on keyboards. A wonderful musician / writer who’s been playing in Neil’s band on and off for decades. Saw him at an intimate gig in Manchester in the late 90’s where he was performing with Dan Penn, absolutely brilliant.

Still instantly recognisable even at nearly 80. Shambolic? Yes, the perfect description. He's come a long way on four chords and an unturned guitar but as you say, despite everything he does, there's something timeless about him ..........and long may he continue.

To be fair, there's something timeless about Neil Young. He still sounds just like he always has; shambolic. That's his great strength, though. Long may he continue.

Not sure this counts but i'm hoping to go see a local band called Nightfly who are playing The Dreadnought in Bathgate the day after we play. Its a Sun afternoon gig week tomorrow. These guys were possibly the first band i ever saw when i was 17 in our local rock venue in Wishaw (The Heathery Bar). They've changed their name from Fire Brigade to Nightfly over the years and at one point in 80-90's they were called Isis but for obvious reasons they had to change the band name. They cover bands like Supertramp, Joe Satriani, Steely Dan, Gabriel, It Bites, Santana and they even did a Toto tribute one night. Fantastic musicians. Bass player uses an Overwater fretted 6 stringer and is the main singer in the band. 4 piece band with bass, drums, guitar and keys. Been meaning to go see them for a few yrs now and just never managed. When i mentioned i was interested in going on the gig advert the Owner of the Dreadnought jokingly offered to put a bed in the dressing room if i wanted to sleep over save going home and back again. 😂 (i think he was joking but you never know as they are a brilliant venue to play in) Love a good old blether with owner and manager and we always get the same SE Pete who is also a bass player so i always get a great sound. Well, Google vs Meta is a bit like choosing between Charles Manson and Fred West as babysitters, but Whatsapp can do polls which is useful when you have to offer a choice of dates to a group. Nextcloud could do all of this, but you either need to pay someone to host it or host it yourself. I really do like my Nextcloud and it's much more reliable than it used to be. I'd choose Nextcloud if any of my bands were up for using it.

I've done that since my first desk with that capability, a Yamaha 01v, in 1998.

There's something very Amy Winehouse about her. Enjoying her set. Great cello playing.

They do lose SOME highs, but I got a more-than-a-year-old cobalt on my Ibanez and it's still got that Prec tone alright, not terrible at all. When my rounds lose their highs, it's much worse.

I just put my first set of Cobalt Flats on my Classic Sterling because I was curious and … I really kind of can’t believe it: Not only do they have highs (including harmonics Jaco would‘ve enjoyed - we‘ll see how long those last), they also provide an absolutely beautiful rock sound (straight neck, flat action, digging in a bit). What a pleasant surprise.

Joanne Shaw Taylor is fabulous in concert! I've seen her twice in Birmingham UK. She's playing Wolverhampton in September, so I should try to get tickets.

There seem to be quite a few in the crowd on iplayer at the moment, including a big one right in the middle.

Amazon is currently selling the Fender maple Precision to Jazz conversion neck for £211. At that price it was rude not to take advantage and buy one to convert my 20+ year old bitzer from a beautiful unlined fretless into something I could actually play without causing people to grimace. The neck is coming tomorrow, but I wondered if anyone knows what tuners it is drilled for? I think I have a spare set of the hipshot lollipops that come with JMJ & vintera 1 mustangs, plus a set of big 70's style hipshot lollipops — I hope either of those sets will fit without needing to redrill as it will save me tens of minutes. The bass currently has an unbranded generic alnico pickup in it which sounds fine, but I know I'm likely to want to get an EMG Geezer for it. Do the frets typically need much fettling with these replacement necks? If so I can take it to the Gallery (or more locally, Feline in Croydon) but it would be nice if it is fine out of the box.
