  5. I'm offering this amazing cab as part of a general sell-off due to retirement from playing. It is about a year old, immaculate, gigged once and includes a Roqsolid cover. It weighs 11kg but actually feels lighter! These are brilliant cabs and work very well on their own or in pairs or with a 1x15. I have the original box so postage is offered in the asking. If the buyer collects, I will reduce the price accordingly. No Trades I'm afraid.
  6. Pfft. 500 miles is a short trip in Aus. Near Brisbane to Melbourne to pick up a bass, and a pair of speakers, the latter of which I sold for enough to pay for the entire trip. 1700km e/w, driven pretty much directly, except for a couple of hours napping. It was about 50 something hours round trip. Bass was an Alembic S2.

  8. I bought one of the 3D printed kits from Ebay. It just needs some 25mm x 25mm stripwood and eight woodscrews. I carefully cut the stripwood, 4 pieces, to the length I wanted. All good and I used some dark mahogany wood stain I had in the garage. There was a little bit of a wobble so I unscrewed the screws slightly and pressed on two corners to try to straighten it out. CRACK! B*gger. After calming down, I used the remainder of the wood to replace the broken brackets. I also added some feet to give an angle and some small blocks to add strength. Adding the new side pieces adds 50mm to the width, and it is now bigger than the padded bag I keep my pedal board in! Here it is with the wood colour on again:

This fantastic box adds a wealth of functionality to existing synths, including extra envelopes, LFOs, arpeggiator, sequencer (notes and parameters), extra patch storage, selective note aftertouch, and much more. This one is in the Prophet style with all the available extras. Has the walnut end cheeks, 1/4” CV ports, the all-synths pack, the option pack, white OLED. The unit is brand new and unused. I literally only opened it to upgrade the firmware for a potential buyer and to check that all knobs and switches work. I helped Steve at Yorick with a few feature and UI ideas. These are no longer being made. I’ve just come to realise that having simplicity/limited options works better for me as it means I spend less time designing sounds and more time playing. Also I need to recoup some funds due to unforeseen health circumstances. Can be posted in the UK via Special Delivery for around £20 (exact price to be confirmed). Collection in person also welcome.
  11. Absolutely stunning unlined fretless made by Ruach. 35" scale Flame maple body and neck with an ebony fingerboard. Beautiful instrument but my playing has led me away from fretless and as such I have hardly touched it since purchasing in 2023, in fact I've had 1 rehearsal with it and that's it and it really is something that deserves to be used. More than welcome to try it out in Cardiff. Price includes UK postage but it pretty firm only selling for this price as this is what I paid here when I got it but it cost £2100 new in 2013.
  12. That's a rather blanket statement, that I don't entirely agree with. I like the BW and wide dispersion, and the clean SPL from reduced cone movement from the 15 operating at lower excursion. My rig is used for 5/6 string bass (B-C, E-E) as well as guitar at the same time (same gig, not simultaneously). I've yet to find any smaller drivers that I like that work as well for what my system needs are. Overall, I find what I use to be a pretty good compromise in terms of LF, SPL, physical size, weight and form factor, and these are far from the first systems I've engineered.
  13. I did drive about 550 miles in each direction to collect a Markbass cab, but to be fair I was also going down to the SW Bass Bash anyway, so I don't know if it counts as I wasn't going there with the sole purpose of collecting gear...

  15. I think this thread covers why, but full backline and full IEM/Modelling are both good and bad. The tow best live gigs I have heard were a pub gig with a band called Chicago 9 Blues band (based around Southampton I think) and Black Country Communion. One was in a PUB, the other in the Hammersmith Odeon. The blues band were clearly very experienced and using some EV 12s plus an old fashion PA amp. All instruments and the blues harp went through the backline. The vocals were as clear as a bell, each instrument has clear and in its own sonic place. Simply a good band with a great sound. BCC had real amps on stage, Three Orange AD200 stacks for Glenn Hughes, Two 100 watt Marshall stacks for Bonamassa clearly the keys and drums were through the PA. I was up in the gods, but the sound was superb. There were no props, no special lights. The whole setup was smack in the middle of the stage. It was a really stripped down gig. Clearly this gig was hybrid, although I have to accept that they may have fooled me, but they had wedges on stage and I could not see IEMs on either Hughes or Bonamassa. I saw Glenn Hughes a few years earlier at the Engine Room in Southampton. They were using a full PA with small amps on stage. The sound was awful, every beat of the kick obliterated the rest of the sound. Clearly a good sound and experience for both audience, and band can be had either by having a silent stage or full backline, and evangelists on both sides are both right and wrong.

  17. I've not gone far but I had someone drive at least several hundred miles from (somewhere in) England to collect a double bass from me in Glasgow, despite him apparently not having played before.

  19. Curious to hear thoughts of those who have used both and which they preferred? Long story short im trading a guitar for another guitar + a Kemper rack. Currently I have a Helix Floor but am get to gig it. Still very much getting back into playing music properly. Either the Helix or the Kemper will be getting sold at some point but would love to get options from you lovely lot.
  20. I get the feeling I'm way down low in the house mix. To me that means our sound engineer doesn't think bass should be heard. I'm not going to argue with him about it. I get paid either way. Daryl

  22. I echo the above, I have one and they are amazing little amps, loud, punchy and super clean. I'll never part with mine and actually considering getting the 600w version as well.
  23. Just to clarify, her current board was made in the 50's and has a metal board, which we think is zinc or some sort of brass combination. Here it is....
