  3. FTFY. Granted it was an excellent bass sound, but I am finding that rock and metal bass tones now fall into one of two categories 1) Sansamp 2) Darkglass

  5. Hi all, The speaker in my Markbass Mini CMD 121P (Combo Head II) has failed, and I’m looking for a suitable 12" replacement. Here are the specs I need to match: Impedance: 8 ohms Power handling: 400W RMS (AES rated) Amp output: 300W RMS @ 8 ohms (500W @ 4 ohms) Cabinet type: rear-ported bass reflex It doesn't have to be the exact same speaker model that originally came with the combo, and I don’t mind if the replacement is a little heavier than the original (I know Markbass uses neodymium drivers, but weight isn't that much an issue for me). Has anyone here replaced the speaker in this exact combo before? I'd love to hear what you used and how it worked out — especially in terms of fit, screw holes, tone, and handling the amp’s output. I don’t have much technical knowledge about amps or speakers, so any advice in plain language would be very helpful. Preferably, the speaker should be available through Thomann. Thanks in advance for your help!
  6. Problem solved, La Bella LTFs, thanks everyone for taking time out to help 👏👏👏
  7. Amazing amp! Only selling as I’ve just bought a Mesa that will do 2ohms, which I need. Excellent condition, 900w at 4ohms and I think 600w at 8ohms. Really does sound superb! Comes with newish Eich amp case. £375 plus P&P or collect from Plymouth. May trade for Markbass NY151 cab or possibly MB 12” combo.

  13. Hi folks, just thought I'd post an update here based on a few conversations... I appreciate this is a big - and expensive - item and it's a long way to travel for many people so I've had a think about how far south I'm able to travel for a meet up from Edinburgh... West - Abington Services on M74 East - Berwick upon Tweed. Middle - Jedburgh Hope that helps a little. It's not a heavy cabinet but it's dimensions make it difficult to package up for posting so I don't think that's an option. Thanks for the enquiries so far.

  16. Cool little amp for home-practice or small-medium gigs. It’s only had light home use with me, and so is in as-new condition and boxed. Part-ex’s in the form of a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white welcome! Collection preferred from near High Wycombe, but can post for £7. Cheers Si

  17. Excellent condition (pedal almost ‘as new’, box is a little more beaten) MXR Studio Comp. This is famously EXACTLY the same circuit as the MXR Bass Comp, but with a different enclosure. MXR did this to sell it more effectively to the guitar market. To be fair, I think it looks smarter than the Bass Comp. This is MXR’s take on an 1176 comp I believe. Not much else to say, solid pedal, nice transparent sound, effective compression. Cool. £120 inc UK postage. No trades unless you have a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white (+money your way of course 😅). Cheers Si

  18. I have severe arthritis in the little finger of my left hand. So much so that a couple of years ago it started to cease being straight and align with the ring finger next to it. As it got worse (and the knuckle more painful) my little finger elected to head off in a different direction and folded underneath the ring finger next to it. As time went on I began to lose the use of it and it started to get in the way too. I'm right handed so my accuracy on the fretboard started to diminish with a useless little finger waving around as my left hand moved up and down the neck. More recently I've been through the investigation process and very soon I have an appointment with a hand consultant at my local hospital to discuss amputation or permanent fusion. Should make playing bass (and keyboards) interesting !😂
  19. I've had excellent results using Boswellia extract. Both thumb ip joints are now pain free, took about 2 months to kick in. Snake oil? I dunno, I'm happy with the outcome.
  20. Been working my way through videos of the show. Haven't watched it all yet, but Gojira slayed, Tool smashed it (loving Justin's "bohemian caveman" look these days), Halestorm were fantastic, loved Jack Black's video contribution with Scott Ian and Tom Morello's sons, Metallica were, well, Metallica. Good, but you know exactly what you're going to get, and the two superstar jams were probably the highlight outside of Ozzy and Sabbath - Nuno Bettencourt didn't miss a note the whole day. There's a man who's done his homework. Sammy Hagar and Steven Tyler both sound amazing for 77, and the tune with Whitfield Crane, Nuno, Scott Ian, Frank Bello and II from Sleep Token was probably my highlight from the whole thing (Frank's new Spector sounds the b0llocks). That Yungblood bloke was pretty bloody good too. The only set I couldn't get through was G'n'R's - was not impressed. More to watch, but what an event. Jealous of those of you who got to go.
  21. "Slinky as raccoons in the roof" it is - pretty standard Robert Smith behaviour there! On "Give me it" by The Cure, he sings about slitting cats open like cheese... so it could be worse. Not quite a song I'd choose for a wedding bash though.
  22. Bought new December 2024. Light home practice only. DELANO SBC series bass pickups are dual or quad-coil electric bass humbuckers in the classic bass soapbar shapes, available for four, five, six and seven-string basses. They represent the leading edge in dedicated bass transducer technology. Unbelievably full and open sound throughout the entire spectrum with tight bottom, airy midrange and heavenly harmonics unrivalled by ANY other bass pickup. Finally your bass CAN sound like it should. Available as individual units or in perfectly matched pairs. The DELANO SBC 4 HE/S was developed to overcome many of the obstacles normally associated with most of the proven dual coil bass humbucking designs. We killed the nasal muddiness, broadened the spectrum and enhanced even order harmonics. Finally there is a bass pickup that perfectly blends the full bodied warmth of a humbucker and the airy openness of the best vintage single coils with crystal clear top end definition into pure luxurious bass tone.
