Sadly selling this ridiculously beautiful precision bass solely because of my tiny hands. Can't get on with the neck at all, I'm more of a jazz/jag neck guy so it's time for this to go. It's in absolutely great condition for its age, with only the one wee ding in image number 9. Recently had a setup with my main man Alec, and it's strung with flats. Obv. 🤣 Comes in a Fender gig bag as pictured. Not really looking for a trade as I'm intending to finally get an ACG, or a short scale Rickenbacker. Welcome to try it out, and PM me about meeting halfway somewhere. Based in the South of Scotland in Dumfries.

How was your open mic or jam night last night?
TrevorR replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
Fun time at the Surrey Country Roots Jam last night. Bass players were thin on the ground with a couple of last minute drop outs, so I ended up playing a few tomes. I was down to play four tunes - one of which I’d suggested and three more I was asked to play or had previously volunteered for. Then I got roped in to play with a guy I kinda know from another jam - he’s “a character”and so I played an impromptu, in the wrong key version of Springsteen’s The River and then Country Roads (both hanging on by the seat of my pants). Best thing was, when I first sat down I saw another bass player off to my left who seemed vaguely familiar. However, with that whole “seeing someone you know but in the wrong context” thing, I just couldn’t place him… a which point, he waved and said “Hi”. Of course, it was @Happy Jack who had come along to check the jam out and see what the standard was and the split between proper old school country, country-pop and the seriously betasseled brigade. So good to see him and sit and chat. He ended getting up for one Hank Williams number playing his lovely old Ovation bass. -

Not if you ask questions. Perfect fit is rare when buying a replacement neck, £700 Fender necks come with a warning their official necks may not fit their bodies. Asking questions can save you a lot of work. Get a digi or Verner calliper and measure the pocket or the heel of the existing neck. Take photos with calliper in position and showing the sizes. If you want do the same for the nut width and neck thickness at a few points. Give the radius of any rounded corners if the pocket has them. Forward the photos to potential sellers and ask them to provide confirmation with photos. Legit sellers will reply, middle men with just a stock photo won't 🙂

The RBM has the octaver, the overdrive, the switchable EQ and the built-in IR system for the DI out. If you're happy with the 500W output and don't need those features, then go for the OBM.

OK, well for my own curiosity if nothing else, I'll still see if I've got a suitable replaceable screw anyway and if I find one, I'm happy to send you it. -

A wonderfully lightweight Precision Bass with a straight neck, fully functioning Truss Rod, uprated Seymour ‘Duncan Designed’ Pick ups, professional KiOgen wireless Loom with Bourns Pots, Switchcraft input Jack, Fender Spaghetti Logo and comes complete with a softshell rigid case. Lovely 50’s vintage two tone tobacco sunburst. This is one of the very few sub 8lbs P basses I’ve encountered during the past half Century, weighing in at a mere 3.4kg - or 7.5lbs in ‘old money’ It has had a Luther set up - levelled frets etc. & plays really well with a low action and sounds like a good P Bass should. The headstock has had a refin & had a spaghetti Fender logo applied to the headstock by a previous owner to a very high standard. What Fender say……. I have these tuners on one of my basses also: They're good tuners, well worth replacing that screw if you ask me. Let me have a rummage in my spares boxes and see what I can find. -

I'm going to get one of those UK-OBM-500 amp heads as it will fit my needs perfectly. If I don't, then its because I've gone for a UK-RBM-500 instead. Does anyone know know what the difference is between these two heads? Is it just a case of the UK-RBM-500 having more features but the amps are basically the same or is there a difference in the amps and the tone? For the record, I'm not a fan of the blue and much prefer the all black look. Saying that, I like that the look is original and not just another black or silver amp. I still miss the Trace Elliot green, nothing has ever beaten that.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
MacDaddy replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
The drummer forgot his cymbals 😖 Including hi-hats. We were in one of Pirates rehearsal studios, and they didn't have anything to lend or rent. So interesting rehearsal. Drummer put a tambourine on the floor tom, and tbf it wasn't too bad. -

I found a website via ai/ Google ( yes I know ) called Glued to music . I registered with them , and assumed I could pay via PayPal , but for some reason PayPal was unavailable at this time . Apple Pay was the other option but I decided not to proceed ! Site may not be legit as I haven’t received confirmation email . I’d rather not get soaked in this weather and it’s a bus ride to the nearest hardware shop . There is Amazon but they have too many options .. -

Oh and another thing, you won't find those Gotoh GB7s (if indeed they're even called GB7s) anywhere but the second hand market, especially those ones with the plastic, fluted bit below the button. The modern day GB707 has a different shaped button. -
@BassAdder60 please see SumOne's post above re. your comparison query? Plus my reasons for wanting the additional features on the GX10. Hope that helps!

There's loads on ebay. Yes, shipped from China. I bought a roasted flamed maple neck there for about a 100 quid. It was stunning. I didn't end up using it though but I know the basschatter who I sold it to liked it a lot. I couldn't say if the fingerboard was real rosewood but it looked good. Nice and dark.

Excellent session last night with my stoner metal band. I made a switch from my Spector to my 80's Yamaha BB1100S and it was the right choice. Really fun and productive session and we're definitely getting closer to being gig ready. Me and the drummer are starting to understand each others playing better. He at least knows a look of panic from me means "slow down ya bastard!" -

Take another one out, and measure it, then get a replacement? It's just a case of getting the correct screw. Perhaps a local, friendly fastener supplier could help? Contact Gotoh? -

A really nice example finished in the beautiful Fender Dakota Red. It has had a really nice professional set up - level frets, low playing action & is in excellent condition. The back of the neck has a lovely flame to the Maple. Other upgrades include a KiOgen wireless loom, Bourns potentiometers, Switchcraft input Jack socket, uprated pickups and a spiffing Celluloid top layer faux Tortoiseshell pickguard. This Bass would be ideal as a travelling instrument, for a beginner, or anyone with smaller hands. Because it is so small - about the same size as a Fender Stratocaster, it is ideal as a studio Bass or just for ‘noodling’ - Guitarists love these as they feel familiar in their hands. Included in the sale is a Gibson heavily padded Levy’s Gig Bag which although is a tad threadbare in places, still provides excellent protection. I didn’t have the classic F91W to hand… luckily I had enough room left on the board for its bigger brother, W217H! Happy to give it a new lease of life after a broken strap mounting hole saw it unused for years.
