  2. No, no push pull pot on this one
  3. You are @stewblack and I claim my £5. (no 'Smilie' for fear of transgressing Gummint guidelines protecting innocent children...)
  4. What do you feel was wrong with the ceramic magnets that alnico will fix?
  5. C4 synth I bought last week off here for the same price… I used to own one, liked it, sold it, wanted another, saw one at a good price, bought it and then remembered why it didn’t really fit into my rig. it will do synth, it will do octave, harmoniser, arpegator, phaser, drive, distortion, Wavefolding and pretty much every filter sound known to man… it’s just not what I’m going to use. oomos original sale post here
  6. I have experienced pretty much this exact scenario! William Morris Club in Wimbledon 1988, and it was 7" single. The dog was well behaved at least. Another time, about ten years later, with a different band, after a couple of pretty successful dates in the autumn, we were booked to play the small room at the Mean Fiddler on 2nd or 3rd January, so everyone was still recovering from New Year. What's more it was a Tuesday night, freakishly cold (something like -7C IIRC) and quite windy to boot. Unsurprisingly, I think we had about three people in the audience. I took a peep into the main room and even the headline act had pulled about ten people in. We were told shortly after that The Fiddler wouldn't be booking us any more because we were not able to get enough people along.
  7. Does this have that cap bypass switch in some pot?
  8. Nice! I got a 4003, my first ric several months ago. EB Cobalt flats sound absolutely massive it.
  9. About 20 years ago I was a deposit payment away from ordering one. I'd looked longingly at the photos on the Shuker website and exchanged numerous emails with Jon regarding specifications. Then I actually got to play one at (IIRC) one of the Manchester Bass Days. I can't put my finger exactly on what it was, but the bass just didn't feel comfortable for me to play and the whole experience left me feeling very underwhelmed. Especially as a few weeks earlier I'd been at The Bass Gallery in Camden and had tried a Rob Allen and liked it a lot. In fact had the two experiences happened the other way round I might well have bought the Rob Allen. As it was I changed my mind completely about the look I wanted and put down a deposit on a Sei instead.
  10. George Porter Jr. is still a very popular bass player The Meters - Little old Money maker
  11. I`ve always answered no to that question. Mainly because the actual answer was "your bum looks big in everything". Which of course I was far too diplomatic to say.
  12. We have a gig coming up there soon. This will be the first gig without our own PA and im just wondering what the monitor situation is.
  13. Great amps
  14. I like it in that it would be lighter, but your point is valid about taking it around. I think I like what I'm used to and tend to prefer the looks with the case.
  15. They do some out there things sometime ashdown. I can't work out why they'd market the new abm in that metal case with no protection. It's either to keep costs down, but then offer you the wooden sleeve at extra cost, or just a bit crazy. We know it won't last without protection with all those exposed knobs and sliders. I said it before about the RM - just add a clippable lid front and back and that would be miles better. Full protection, no need for a heavy wooden cover and very easy to use.
  16. Not sure if the toaster is original or not? Serial dates from 1998?
  17. Hi I've got a 62 reissue jazz, american made, bought new about thirteen years ago.my question is;does anyone know what size fretwire fender used on them.i want to refret a precision with the same size frets, but there are so many different frets out there I don't know which to get.i believe pre cbs fenders had the equivalent of dunlop 6230 frets, which are about 2mm wide and 1.1 mm high.here in the UK fender are selling vintage frets which are about 2.1 mm and 1mm.i don't have any accurate measuring tools and I do have failing eyesight!I imagine measuring the height would be inaccurate anyway due to levelling. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks
  18. If most their business is in guitars then I’m not sure G&L will have kept the Fender C-suite up at night. what it might let them do is have fender as the heritage brand and G&L as the wackier ideas brand, in bass world like you said they haven’t really changed much that catches on since moving the jazz pickup - it gives them two/three bass models that actually do something different - a decent 5 string and a more muscular humbucker
  19. That's a beautiful venue (the theatre one :-)). The outdoor one though... I'd have to laugh that one off. I play mostly original music so I'm used to small crowds, which I don't mind if we get an occasional amazing gig.
  20. and wear a large pink wig 🤣
  21. Very nice, looks great and bet it sounds better. Toaster must be a later addition.
  22. Try seeing if there's any dep work going locally. People in bands know other bands and you might get a lead that way and it gets you in the game. Same goes for your BIL and drummers are usually in short supply if they're any good.
  23. Dropped to £180, without the spare strings I was originally including. This bass is in hardly used, mint condition.
