  1. Past hour
  2. Thank you @Phil Starr. I think the Deltabass will be ok. I've got a gig on Friday almost immediately after work, and I'm working a long day tomorrow. I'll probably send a signal from my pedal board to the desk and use my cab and the deltabass for front of house. Thank you again. A lot of companies are trying this on lately. I had it when I bought a dehumidifier that was as loud as a Lightening Jet. "You have to send a video to demonstrate the problem". No, I'll send it back. You give me my money back.
  3. Fixed. OP did say politely, after all.
  4. Had a rehearsal today with the local pop classics and northern soul covers band with our new dep drummer which went really well for him. We covered a couple of sets. 2½ hours of playing, 2 hours chat!
  5. There sre no right answers as it all depends on what you want to achieve. I suggest you try a compressor before and after your pedal board and see what happens.
  6. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  7. A big festival that goes brilliantly for the whole band, organisers and punters! Back to reality, for the pub and function gigs I'm doing... * a crowd, that nearly fills the place, that dance and with fun banter * no gear issues, operational or transport * bandmates can hear themselves and everyone else without going out ears ringing at the end too much * we all play really well, we entertain, we sound very good and get compliments * a few punters effusively enthusiastically book us for their function and others take our details * we get paid a bonus (very rare)
  8. I have a vision of said singer only able to sing, whilst taking a bath: drums at the back; bass, stage right; guitarist, stage left; old fashioned, roll top bath, complete with mic, centre stage.
  9. I received a pedal bought from Ally today. Delivered in 48hrs. Very well packaged. Responsive comms. Brilliant! Ta!
  10. If you are completely stuck and have a gig coming up I have a Peavey Minimax I could lend you for a couple of weeks. Depends upon where you are in deepest Devon. PM me if you want to take this up, you'd need to drive up to Chard.
  11. You have a singer who takes baths? That's pretty rare. Don't be too hasty.
  12. For the last few years I've played in a church band and it really was ideal for me: * 10am rehearsal, before the gig at 11am, home in time for lunch, no loading in the dark * large car park close to the back door for unloading * nice people, no drunks * free coffee and biscuits * fabulous acoustics 🙂
  13. Distance trading regulations mean you don't even need to prove there is a fault. You have 14 days to return the amp for a full refund but you will have to pay postage unless they offer free returns in their ads. Distance trading regulations in the UK are primarily governed by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which replaced the earlier Distance Selling Regulations. These regulations require sellers to provide clear information about goods and services, including cancellation rights, and give consumers a 14-day period to cancel their orders after receiving the goods. which.co.uk autotraderinsight-blog.co.uk Overview of Distance Trading Regulations in the UK Distance trading regulations in the UK are primarily governed by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. 14. Literally, a bit of a dick.
  15. I’d suggest it’s worth airing any doubts before making a decision, you might find others feel the same & finding nice people might be half the battle? e.g. what changes might it take to keep you interested (for your own future direction & they probably will ask) That said, I’d understand why you might want to cut & run, it sounds like an experience mismatch too difficult to tackle… Taking the “not enjoying it / want to drop into something established” is probably honest & diplomatic enough?
  16. I put a set of GHS flats on my Cort Jazz. Improved the sound a lot.
  17. Over here it was never clear to me how much of the take on the cover the bands actually saw, unless the bar gave complete control of the door to the band. Daryl

  19. Call their bluff. Book a gig.
  20. The company that operates the AI music generator site may say this, but I don’t think the law is settled yet as to whether they are correct.
  21. I have LaBella Low Tension Flats on my jazz basses. They sound great.
  22. In the UK there are hardly any pubs or bars that charge on the door, especially for cover bands. People just won't pay for it. They will (to an extent) happily pay inflated bar prices though. I guess it's a psychological thing: paying for "nothing" vs. buying a slightly more expensive beer. That's my view playing in a covers band anyway.
  23. I wish I had something to contribute to this thread. The fact is we don't rehearse. I wish we did. We play around 65 gigs annually and easily have 4 hours of material. I'm not sure why we don't rehearse. I come from a different background than my bandmates. My background is based in rehearsals and exchanging ideas. This seems foreign to my bandmates. Anyone else here who's band doesn't rehearse ? Daryl
  24. Glad to hear that, thought my memory was failing me 🙂
  25. I'm stealing this topic from Dave. What is an ideal gig for you? Within the Bass Chat community we have different levels of experience age and location differences that can impact what folks think is a great gig. There are some folks and I know some who are what I call " I don't care I just want to play" guys. There's nothing wrong with that,I use to be one of those guys. However at 71 years old I'm not one of those guys anymore. . Share your thoughts. Thanks Daryl
