  2. I alternate between finger and pick dependant on the song in my current band. However, in my old band, for some reason, I decided to play the odd set all pick. It was a revelation and a nice change. A friend of mine who, before he retired, owned a sound reinforcement company (and is the best FoH engineer I have ever heard) and also plays guitar and records with numerous folks, said that he loves the sound of a pick on bass, as it focusses the sound and can make it fit the mix better. Certainly something to break out every now and again to ring the changes. I can do that. This was recorded during lockdown...

  4. Because both amp and speaker ratings are written by marketing departments, not engineering departments. Watts sell gear, amperes and volts don't. Wire capacity ratings come from engineering departments.
  5. Ahhhh, my old beautiful bass. A stunner of an instrument. GLWTS my friend. Someone is gonna pick up something very special indeed ☺️
  6. Foe sale or trade for a preamp pedal. The by now very well known and regarded MXR octave deluxe. In very good cosmetic condition aside from two small marks, and fully functional. Has some velcro still on the bottom. Price includes p&p to standard UK addresses. Cheers.
  7. I bought this off a good friend of mine and I've had it for a couple of years. It's a fatastic bass and comes with a lovely hard case. I can post in the UK insured for about 20 quid. 8. So the consensus of the thread is all bass players are angels and the rest of em are bastards! 😅
  9. Nice. I'm currently transcribing some Haslip bass lines too. Allan Holdsworth and Yellowjackets
  10. What made you decide to go with a pick rather than fingerstyle. Just curious as i've struggled with that issue over 40 yrs but always remained fingers. Usually guitarists that wanted me to use a pick because that's what they do 😂 Looks like it was a good gig and nice looking J bass too. Dave
  11. Ive managed to find a guitar box, so delivery is now an option

  15. Great that it felt right and not awkward. Good to hear your feedback on it as i remember it wasn't an easy decision for you to walk away. That's a nice happy Sunday morning story to cheer us all up. Dave

  17. Not actually my gig, and nor was I playing So I had a lovely evening going to see and support my mate who I've been playing with in a trio for over thirty years. Paul is an amazing guitarist, but plays bass for the 'Beat Club', and was playing one of my Jazz basses. So I had a highly pleasant evening of being an 'Audient', sitting and listening and drinking my blackcurrant and soda water. C2B0436F-F3D3-42F8-BA6B-500CF3A614FA.MP4
  18. I have owned one of these in the past. Don't be put off by the shape - I found mine surprisingly ergonomic - it balances well and the top edge of the body formed what I can only describe as a "shelf" for my forearm to rest on. Really quite pleasant playing experience, and sounded good too. I felt enriched and enlightened by the experience of owning and playing one. And yes, you feel like a bloomin' rock god when you're playing it - you will throw shapes and pull faces. GLWTS!
  19. I had the 2x8" combo too - really nice sound and very cool styling, but insanely heavy for a small combo. Made by Carlsbro apparently. OP amp looks a bargain for proper quality kit
  20. U.K. postage is around 70 on Shiply so would let this go for £400 delivered Thanks
  21. U.K. postage for this week a coming in around £110 on Shiply.com which would make the cab, 550 delivered so I’m happy to half the expense and sell for 500 delivered.
  22. Decided to sell individually as well as possible job lot(s) £120 for all 14 pads or £15 each plus postage. Thanks
  23. I haven’t posted in this thread in a while! Played a local bar on Saturday night. First time for the American Jazz and first time trying to play the set live with a pick! loads of compliments afterwards. Burned 600 cals according to my watch haha! Managed to keep ahold of the pick until the last song, have a gnarly bruise on my middle finger now. only issue was that my ACS in-ears are away getting repaired again so was using KZs from Amazon. Didn’t hear things quite as well as I’d liked! Got some pics and a video, it was live streamed but we haven’t got that yet. cfc5ed86-8502-438b-a48b-12c3ef413f55.mov
