  1. Past hour
  2. I do live near Middlesbrough, for some value of 'near'. Two hours or so. I'm tempted by it but I wouldn't really know enough to spot a fake if I went to pick up and took cash. However "if it looks to good to be true etc etc etc..."
  3. Still buzzing from last night's gig with Nine Lives at the Harbour Lights in Peterhead. Yay, a stage! Yay, a sound engineer and house PA! So we found ourselves in the unusual position of being ready to go about half an hour before show time. It was pretty busy, certainly the busiest I remember it being at this particular venue, there seemed to be a constant, but varying level of 30-40 folk in the bar at any one time. I worried that we'd be a bit rusty, being the first gig since the beginning of December, but we played really well, a few minor bloops here and there but nothing showstopping. And boy did I feel frisky - I went on three wireless walkarounds during the gig (or was it four?). General shape throwing/posing on stage and I'm feeling pretty creaky today. But all in all, cracking night, got some great comments and chit chat with a few of the punters. Had the obligatory drunk guy thus: Punter: "Can you play some Metallica?" Me: "Sure, in a couple of songs" ... *band plays Enter Sandman* ... Punter: "You said you'd play Metallica!" Me: "Umm, we did?" Punter: "Aww, I missed it" *I shrug* Well, we're not going to play it again, are we? FFS! Anyway, apart from that, cracking night, loads of folks up dancing, a new song in the set went without a hitch, got some great feedback, got paid (and got told that we could up our price next time), reduced load in/out due to not having to provide PA. Just all kinds of good really. Gear was the Cort Curbow then the Ibanez ATK into the usual toan cubes (which weren't doing that much, mostly just providing the feed to the desk, had a wedge in front of me)
  4. If it comes in at £500 or less, although definitely not cheap, that actually doesn't seem like bad value for such innovative and cutting edge tech? And you can pay significantly more for some old-school analogue preamps or Eventide pedals. Be interesting to see how this stacks up against the Polyend Mess that @Kiwi recently got (currently £519 with Andertons) and also looks excellent.
  5. That's what did it for me: the endless repetition of a single piece to get it just so, and the aiming for one single perfect performance. I am guessing that if @SumOne has played something 100 times on the bass guitar, it is because it has been gigged it 95 times. However, piano is frustratingly different, and difficult. I confess to have taken an inadvertent break from learning recently - I am simply not practicing anymore, because failure is so discouraging. I realise now, that I need to practice little and often, and work through the difficulties that comes from learning something new. Onwards and upwards...
  6. Well I only bought a new bass because I had to go short scale from a shoulder injury. However, I really am gassing for a Behringer Meatball.
  7. I was just about to do an initial roll call😄
  8. I'm tempted by the PBM. I have some informal gigs coming up where it would be really handy to have a gig-bag-sized amp. It's pricier than others like the TE Elf or the Warwick Gnome, but I should probably put my money where my mouth is and support UK businesses trying to actually make stuff. It also looks like it could be used to hammer in nails or defend against bear attacks, which might be handy.
  9. Much as we all want it to be "the one", Belka is correct.
  10. Recorded in Paris, France on March 24th, 1996 Bon Jovi & Bob Geldof - I Don't Like Mondays (Live) | Hugh McDonald
  11. My thoughts too Belka, I’ve had a reply and it’s saying it’s genuine , if I was near Middlesbrough I’d be on my way to have a look
  12. Now what a top wood! And that grayish neck looks good.

  18. You have obviously been to better quality ones than I have!
  19. I can tell from the tuning machines and tort pickguard that the pictures show a real pre-CBS bass and not a custom shop. For that price it will be a scam. I'd guess the real Andrew from Middlesbrough has had his account hacked. He does have decent feedback, but only as a buyer. There are none for him as a seller. The scammer is probably abroad and has set the price at $5000 without using a UK located VPN, hence the odd price. There's no way someone who has bought 22 items on Reverb would not know a realistic price for this. If it looks too good to be true, it is.
  20. how long do you need 😁 I can hear the clanks and groans of a PC firing up !
  21. That was an idea I’d had for one of the remaining FI4 apps but it’s not likely to happen now due to another issue.
  22. Hello Collective... How do they compare to the equivalent Motu M2 and M4 units? The Motu's are more expensive. Are they worth the price difference....? Thanks.
  23. There was a little discussion about those Gretsch CVTs last year on this thread. I guess it’s good to have another medium scale bass on the market but I don’t really understand the significant price hike over the Junior Jet.
  24. Looks good, I want one! This seems more innovative and interesting than any pedal announced by the big companies at NAMM. Triggering recorded samples I think being unique for a guitar/bass pitch tracking pedal? I'm also interested in using it as a synth midi controlled by a keyboard, my keyboard is piano and organ type stuff and limited synth stuff (basically samples) so plugging this in could really expand that. I know the FI can do that, but this seems to have more hands on editing and the screen. I'm guessing it'll not be cheap, something like £500?
  25. Hi guys, For anyone interested in NAM captures, I am currently creating a series of captures of my Goliath FX Desolation bass distortion pedal. Essentially its a dual bass overdrive, one side being, what I believe is a TS9 style overdrive that can run in series or parallel with a RAT based distortion. https://www.tone3000.com/tones/goliath-fx-desolation--51904 IMG_5712.HEIC
