  2. As well as the thundering bass line, the demo versions (or at least the stuff they did before getting signed) also feature exactly what you’re referencing. The droning open D, whilst playing a melody on the G - akin to Hooky, Gallup - is all in there…
  3. I definitely favoured those raspy mids and punch low end. I’d love to find this P bass again. Fullerton ‘62 neck on a 70’s body, dimarzio P pup and a pair of 15’s delivered some warm lows too. My secret weapon (not pictured) was a converted HiFi preamplifier with a “loudness” control on it which paired very well with the punchy mids for a BIG tone@
  4. You don't think it fits right the tabs in the pfd i shared?
  5. Since developing arthritis in my fingers I’m playing a lot less guitar and thus am moving on much of my bass collection, keeping just a few essentials. Now I’m selling my Ibanez SRF700 fretless, I love this bass but I just don’t play it often enough to keep it any more. Full details here: https://www.ibanez.com/na/products/detail/srf700_1p_07.html It’s in great condition, other than a few marks around the jack socket. Also worth noting that the volume pot is a little loose but just needs tightening back up against the body. The bass is currently string with rounds, I may have the original Chromes it came fitted with. Collection from Watford, Herts preferred, but delivery can be organised at buyers expense.
  6. Everyone has gone against what I was going to say, be drastic! That mid control is like a Mini Moog, those amps have a lovely smooth treble so I used to engage ultra hi even if treble is at noon. I owned a mk1 SVT for a while but preferred the v4b ( late 70s), for me even though they're brand siblings that share an active switchable mid with massive boost, making each anp work to it's strengths was completely different, I found anyway. I never got to try the old v4b through an 8x10 so I guess the cabs being used would have caused the difference maybe.
  7. As new, used a handful of times , have attached Velcro to the underside. Comes with all the original packaging & price includes recorded postage. Now £375 !!!!

  8. Definitely, in my first proper band much of the bass work was on the D & G, with a sly bit of chorus added in of course.

  10. ….and of course if you installed a pair of Dimarzio model Ps in there the adjustable pole pieces would have it covered anyway 👍
  11. It's a brilliant bass part. It's a shame the album version of the track had synth bass instead of a proper bass guitar track. It also reminds me of how many people were influenced by the whole post-punk/goth thing - the P-with-a-pick midrangey tone, the melodicism, the high-register fills, etc - straight from the Hooky and Gallup school of bass.
  12. Dunno but apparently he got it from a nun.....😇
  13. Roland Bolt 60 The same Valve power section design as a Fender Deluxe Reverb Has Brand new Power Valves The Preamp needs attention as it is intermittently cracklly at the moment ( hence the price and parts listing classification) I guess it needs a service. I’ve been using it as a pedal platform bypassing the Solid State Preamp straight into the power amp and it that use case it’s given me no hassle. Collection only as lord know’s what devastation a courier might wreak!
  14. Antelope Audio interface new condition used twice in past two years from new. Any Questions message me. Barry / Cardiff Pickup Or can sent insured for £10 Thanks for looking
  15. Okay, so I picked the bass up this afternoon. First jobs already done. Flats gone. Elixir 40-95s added. Black Scratch Guard added (and single coil route inspected). Mute kit turned the correct way around and general setup completed. So what we have here is a really light weight Natural Velvet 1995 Stingray 2EQ with an OBP-2 Preamp, but the HS Aguilar pickups have been replaced with the original MM humbucker. Sounds huge and plays wonderfully, barring some small extra adjustments. Oddly enough, the second control, which I presume was the blender still has an effect, despite the Single Coil pickup having been removed. It gives three distinct sounds between the centre detent and the two extremes of travel in the rotary control. It's almost as if the 'blender' is splitting between the two banks of the humbucker, and the central point makes them cancel each other out very slightly. Is this possible?! (I didn't do the rewiring. It was done by my mate's tech who previously owned the bass.) Anyway, the obligatory pictures now it's home...

  17. Mass Of A Graviton — Izabella Khalo
  18. Yes (no pun intended),I read Trev's autobiography. The Yes/buggles connection came through them having the same management.
  19. Finally sorted. Bought a 98 mm one from the source suggested by @ratman. Purchased the large one because having no experience of how rigid they were I thought that a slightly over size would provide a nice snug fit. When it arrived I was impressed how stiff it was and sadly didn't fit properly. Bought a second from the same supplier at 96 mm for a sound hole of 95 mm. Problem solved! Nice snug fit and seems to do the trick by preventing the feedback. I have also created a new patch on the Zoom B1FOUR with HPF at 50 hz. Happy Days. Thanks everyone for your advice.
  20. Gravity - John Mayer
  21. Steve Howe played on the original album - him and Trevor Horn are long-time collaborators, even before the short-lived Buggles/Yes "merger". He does look a bit out of place here, sitting down and playing dobro though!
  22. Nasty! I recently bought a Chinese classic vibe precision deck and it’s amazing. That was £85 delivered, reckoned choose a name brand over these.
