Not sure if I've posted this already. This is a gig where our mandolin player couldn't make it and I used the Takamine acoustic rather than DB. Sound quality not great but you get the picture

  • 2 weeks later...

As I said, quick recordings, very sick singer, not our own amps and a rushed recording.......

Not one of my best efforts but here goes...

From the Reef/Empire of Fools gig at Cheese and Grain, Frome, in July. Can't remember the name of the third band on the bill but they were pretty good. Very generous in letting us use their gear too in light of the set-up running hours late! If I remember rightly, I'm using my pedals through an Aguilar head and Markbass 8x10. Spot the mistake!! :P

Kev. That's f***ing mental :D

I love it! I don't normally like to say what BC members' music reminds me of, but is there some Beefheart vibe going on? It seems to share some of Beefheart's aesthetic syntax.

Anyway, whatever, it's quite remarkable!

Aw, thanks guys. I'm a Beefheart fan so I guess a bit of that comes out now and again- although in this band the influences are more Soft Machine, King Crimson, Can and bands that riff and repeat. The basic idea is to have atonal sounding riffs, funky beats and 'stuck'' passages that have no melodic development. It doesn't sound great on paper but the audiences at our gigs seem to love it!

The bass is an Iceni custom made by Mike Walsh.
