It'll be different looking, even now, with the MM style guard, it looks a lot different, and with the other plate, will look better. (Call me mad, but I prefer the stock PU to the often used EMG-HZ that people use instead).

A luthier is out of the question, unfortunately, due to cost (and me back in college with no income........ :-/ ). I just had a brain fart, the college I go to, has a luthier class. I'll see what the cost is there

Acquired this bass, and I have to say, I'm happy with the tone!! Nice balance, and even though it's only the maple neck, the finish is great. A few nicks in the clear coat is about all. Chunky bridge, and although the action is higher than I usually like, I will leave it as is, as it is nice to play! Was a bit apprehensive before testing it, but all was good. Have yet to play it in anger through the EBS, but through the 30w Laney, it sounds sweet as a nut! New strings on the way too Now if I could get asses in order, and get the new project started.

[/quote] Being a Fleabass, it came with a small orange scratchplate, held on with strong tape, I had a spare MM style guard at home, so planked it on there with equally strong tape! A friend suggested oversized brass or SS washers, may try that as a temp fix as the bass still functions perfectly

So, ye may call me mad, but I have a major sweet spot for my Fleabass! The sound through my EBS, with mids boosted is sweet, and, it's FUN to play! Anyhoo, I was playing a gig befpre Christmas, aaaaannnnnd someone stood on the cable, as I was moving around, and there was a 'ca-CHUNK'. The body, surrounding the jack socket, cracked, and basically, is kind of shagged! I didn't realize how thin the wood was around there. Any suggestions/ideas? I do love the bass, for the reasons I mentioned. Maybe perspex to cover the top side of the bass?

Howdy! Been away for a bit, but now I'm back! Hopefully NBD tomorrow. Trading a Spector NS2000b (Defretted and repainted black), for a Warwick Rockbass (Early model). Question I have, is what are they like, I have researched, but can't find much info on the single PU version? There are a few threads here with mixed reviews. The Spector is spotless, but I'm not giving the fretless the time it deserves.... So trading it is a good option for me! Here is what I'm trading: And here is what I was offered: Good deal or no? i have never played a Rockbass, let alone an early model from what I can tell. Any advice appreciated

Post your Frankenbass efforts here!!! Here's one to start the ball rolling. This was the one I posted before with the horrible plywood body...... Wanted a beat up/roadworn look. Got bored the other day and decided to do some work on it. Good/bad or indifferent, it does look beat up! :-p

So, I have aqquired said bass, repainted in black from 'gold' and it's also my first fretless..... Finding the whole experience very different indeed. Will get pics up soon. Also, it's my first Spector, granted, it's the low end, but paint and de fretting jobs are spot on! Anybody have experience with these basses?

Needs a bit of TLC ( Wiring needs replacing ) but WHAT a bass Mine's different from any I have seen too. Recessed bridge, different neck extension, dark stain. Love it!

My first bass was an RBX170 in blue. I traded it for a Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk Go for the Yamaha!

It's difficult to identify a project that needs just the right balance of time and money to be a good deal, and it is too easy to get a bucket of parts and overspend putting it back together when a reasonable used bass with a couple of personal modifications would actually be less expensive in the long run, be a better playing bass, and have better resale value. Nut and bridge replacement will be sorted, and all the paint and finish will be done by me, so not too costly Apparently the wiring is OK from what he can see. I'll bring a mini amp up to test it.
