[b]Kramer D-1 disciple[/b] - Pro's: Sounds great, EMG pup and Preamp give great tonal variety, asymmetrical neck is very comfy and fast, good balance. Cons : Can feel quite heavy and with a thin strap it'll KILL your shoulder. That's about all! Great workhorse. Fit/Finish : 10/10 [b]Tanglewood Funkmaster[/b] : Pro's: Lovely sound when it worked, 2 active soapbars, nice grain in the wood. Cons : Scratchy pots, wiring nightmare ( spaghetti junction - need to get it rewired, will post pics ) neck is quite thick and I have small enough hands. Fit/Finish : 7/10 [b]Vintage EST 96[/b] : Pro's : It'll look nice wen I finish painting it, nice neck, surprisingly fast for a Vintage. Cons: Action still quite high, dull sound from wilkinson pup (standard pup, may replace ) Fit/Finish: 6/10 [b]Fleabass Model 32[/b]: Pro's: Fun to play, very fast and smooth neck, funky sound, balanced. Cons: One tone and one volume knob means tonal variety is somewhat limited, standard pup, while sounds funky, could have more mids. No horror stories from me Fit/Finish (Very surprising) 8/10.

After a week of hard testing, I have to say I'm very very surprised. I paid 199e new for the Model 32 version. I like the sound (great sustain aswell) and the neck is smooth and very fast. It would seem that Fleabass did make some genuinely good examples, and I'm happy to say I seem to have gotten one. It hasn't missed a beat. Tuning is still perfect, action is lowered, and it's generally fun to play! The more I play, the more I like the sound of the standard PUP through my Laney DP150 4x10 combo. I may keep the PUP and change the pots I am a fan of cheaper, fun basses ( as my gear list suggests ) and am quite happy to continue this way

EMG-HZ will be going in soon I'd say. ( Most put the EMG-35CS in but I can't be arsed with the converting of passive to active ( It's the only passive bass I own ) I definitely go one of the good batch and for 199 yo-yo's.

I took a chance, and I got a fun bass with actually quite a nice sound. I'm happy with mine anyway.

Ok, I feel like I have had so few basses compared to some. I have never owned a high end bass, I actually prefer the lower end quirky stuff. ( Not that I wouldn't ever say no to say, a JB, or the like First bass - Yamaha RBX350 in dark blue. Can't remember it fully. Taglewood ( I think it's a Bassmaster, see the thread I made asking in help identifying it ) - still have t. Lovely tone when it's working. BC Rich NJ warlock 5 - awesome punch, but the looks, andthe fact it got dinged on EVERYTHING put me off completely. Epiphone Thunderbird - Hateful HATEFUL bass. Tone was dead, balance was crap and neck dive was atrocious. Vintage EST96 - Being modified (by me), painted and maybe a new pup down the road. Not the best tone, pretty dead with the standard pup but ok as a backup. Kramer D-1 disciple - Current main player, love it, can't fault it! Fleabass Model 32 water - Heard LOTS of horror stories, but mine seems to be a diamond in the rough. NONE of the problems I have read about and is great fun to play, Very fast neck! It actually surprised me when I played it through my cab. Very nice sound! Will definitely be coming to gigs

Hi all, I've had this for a few years now, it's in need of a service as the pots and wires have parted company and the neck could use a seeing to. I love the look and feel of it, and when it worked it had a great sound ( One pickup is semi working ) Needs a good cleanup. I'm sure it's a Tangewood 'Bassmaster' but not certain. Active with two soapbars, mahogany body, and a shape similar ( I think ) to a spector. Any help appreciated. (Far right.... The Vintage is being modded completely, hence no strings.... ) Cheers!

I got one a few days ago ( Model 32 Water ) and I must have gotten one from a good batch, feels solid, no paint overspray, nut is nice and neat, straight neck and no fret buzz, fingerboard is nice, no saw marks and fret wire is smooth. I think it's good fun to play, and using it through my Laney it did have a surprising presence after I messed with the EQ a bit. 90% of reviews seem to bring up the QC and there doesn't seem to be much love for them. I like mine and would have no problem gigging it along with the D-1, and Tanglewood Bassmaster. I do plan on swapping the pup in the future though, but that's about all.

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, I have a Kramer D-1 as my man player. Very nice to play and the sound........ ooohhhh the sound Vast range of tones available, from right low down punch, to more of a funk/flea sound when you boost the treble. I've got DR Neons on mine and the overall look is pretty cool. Very fast neck, very well built, and the EMG pup/preamp are brilliant. Can't fault it!
